Hello everyone, I am sorry to hear about this concerning noise when turning. If at any point you decide to address this with your Ram dealer, our team is just a private message away and more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for further support through that process.

Mine does it from time to time as well.
It did it again today at the Beginning of a Right turn.
Can You send some sort of insight to Boerne Dodge RAM in Texas, and tell them what it could be??
I am FB friends with a Master Mechanic There, and he said he would have to Hear it...But how can he do that unless he drives it everyday??
Let me Know...

Just an update on mine (which I don't know is applicable to some of the other issues)... I had it into the dealer today and after a couple hours they said it is a defective clockspring making the sound and that I need a new one so they're got one on order. Fingers crossed that's the issue but they seemed fairly confident it is.
I Do Not think Ours is the Clock Spring....Completely different sound.

I have this when I'm backing up and the wheels are turn to max to the left. Think the plastic wheel well is hitting the tire but haven't confirmed it.

Hi @RAM/Cuda,
What we are able to do from this level is escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for an additional layer of support as you work with your dealer. This will provide the dealership and yourself with an individual who will review your concern, then assist in exhausting all available resources until it is fully addressed and resolved. Please send us a PM with your VIN if you are interested in beginning this process.

Hi there, we recommend having this noise properly diagnosed by your Ram dealer in order to determine the root cause of the concern. If you desire any additional support during that process, feel free to private message us here!

THANK YOU for the assistance. I have a 2021 Bighorn w/10k mi - I'm having this issue with strong turn left or right, fwd or backing - low rumble groan like a bearing is not lubed is the best I can describe it. My dealer Stateline RAM, Chrysler Alpha in SC has been working with me, they've said they've flashed the software, they have replaced the rack and now I'm going back on Oct 4 for another try to resolve it.
I've printed the TSB everyone refers to - TSB 08-137-21 B - and will discuss with the service manager there when I drop off, I'm also going to be asking about Wheel Bearings, CV shafts, joints.

As an IT person I know how I'd troubleshoot it - break it down to the following:
- What parts are moving when the truck is turned full left/right and truck is moving forward or backward
- The sound "feels" like it's on the outside of front end, not in the middle, not in the steering column
- so what parts are "rotating" when this even occurs and what is the potential for it to create a "rubbing" "resistant" " non lubricated " scenario.

- Rack has been changed - Check
- ESP software can cause a " Resistance" so was the update done properly by the tech and can they prove it somehow?
- How to check/test wheel bearings
- How to test front drive shafts

Thanks for listening and helping

Bill

Has anyone replaced the front unit wheel bearing on a 4th or 5th gen truck? I have done a dozen on at least 5 different cars and trucks and they all had accessible bolts. I see the Ram is obstructed by the overly large lip of the CV cup/boot. I assume I have to pull the axle to get access to the bolts? Does the axle attach with a flange with bolts? And hopefully not a slide in spline on the differential side, like a car? Edit to add: Looks like a slide in spline, so is there enough room to pull it off the differential? Or do I need to pop off the knuckle?

Thanks for any tips! I'm doing this in an apartment parking lot on my kids truck, so it has to appear whole when you walk away for the night.

I'm heading in to the dealer tomorrow, and my 2020 1500 is making this same noise on slow turns. I'm going to show them this TSB... hopefully that resolves it. Thank you for sharing this!

The dealer followed the TSB, at the whopping cost of $75.

It's only been a week, but the noise is gone. Fingers crossed that's all it was, and not something that's actually expensive!

For what it's worth, I got the noise turning both left and right. Even though the TSB only specifies "right", the TSB may be worth a try if you are getting noise on a left turn at low speeds. It can't hurt...

Awesome news. I used to hear the grinding more when backing up.

I had this sporadically to but would do it turning left or right. Went in for an oil change today and they performed the TSB no questions asked. I hope this works!

I don't know if it was my dealership specifically or a part of the TSB protocol but it reprogrammed my tire size back to factory. I reprogrammed with AlphaOBD prior to TSB and it was zero'ed out to Waze. Tire MM was changed back to stock

I have this exact issue with my 2021 Ram Limited. The truck is int he dealership and I was told that my tires are 2" too tall. I am running Michelin Tire Size: 285/45R22/XLs which was what the truck was sold with.

Mine was the steering rack. It was replaced and the problem solved.
