Hey Guys.

I have a 2019 Laramie Sport.

When I make a right turn at slow speed (around 5-12 MPH), I hear a griding noise - almost as if the wheel is touching something. I checked and it doens't look like it's touching anything. Any ideas what could be causing this? I want to take it to th dealer, but the problem is the issue is random so not sure if I will be able to reproduce for them. Please advise.

Thanks.

I've noticed the same thing happening with my truck and I can feel it in the steering wheel and gas pedal too. I think I read somewhere that it could be tires, transfer case fluid or rack and pinion. I can't recreate it so I know the dealership will be useless.

my suspension and tires are stock and I get a tire rub on the passenger front fender liner at full turn which of course only happens at slow speed

My fender liners also rub at entry/exit position and full steering lock. It's only noticeable in reverse when the tread catches. The first time it did it, I though I ran over a trash can. Only a tiny part touches, I could probably take a pair of scissors to it to fix.

Nice of FCA to include the liners on the higher end trucks and then not bother testing their fit in production.

Hey guys, I had the exact same issue and it was only on full lock left and it was in forward or reverse. In fact, when I would be at speed, full left lock AND hitting a bump (like imagine going up a driveway with a bit of a curb lip at the bottom) there was a LOUD clank noise.
Of course, could not replicate it with the dealer but the mechanics keen eye noticed the wheel liner was bent and after some testing, we realized it was the issue. They ordered me a new one last week, problem solved!

This was only the left side, right aide seemed fine.

I had the same problem with passenger tire rub in entry/exit in full left wheel turn in reverse the 22's rub the corner of front liner on my 2021 1500 limited. I just used a heat gun and put a bit more bend in the liner where the factory bend is. Fixed the problem in under 1 minute.

Hello everyone, I am sorry to hear about this concerning noise when turning. If at any point you decide to address this with your Ram dealer, our team is just a private message away and more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for further support through that process.

Doh! Great idea, would have saved me the trip! Nice work 👍

mine is not rubbing the liner -- it's in the steering -- almost feels like antilock brake sensation except I'm not braking when it happens

Hi guys have a 2019 Ram limited with stock wheels and rims. Dealer can’t recreate the issue but I was able to record it. Is this what y’alls sounds like?

I started getting this the other day on my 2021... it's like a clicking in the steering column when turning the wheel right/left and sometimes over a bump. Very noticeable. Going to have to take it in to the dealer. It's not when I'm at full turn and is very random (including straight) so I don't think it has anything to do with rubbing...

Slow turn to the right. Had the same issue and dealer replaced the rack & pinion. Problem resolved 40k miles ago and has not returned.

Just an update on mine (which I don't know is applicable to some of the other issues)... I had it into the dealer today and after a couple hours they said it is a defective clockspring making the sound and that I need a new one so they're got one on order. Fingers crossed that's the issue but they seemed fairly confident it is.
