Get the Best Price on a Factory Extended Warranty

This sounds like a line of crap that a finance department employee would say to earn his commission on selling you a 3rd party warranty.. Hopefully others can chime in.
This DOES NOT relate to Zeigler....... I just asked Bob Cline. Bob is a finance manager at a Dodge/Ram dealer in Michigan, and ONLY sells the MOPAR/FCA Genuine ESP.

However, it does happen at other dealers. Some say the MOPAR/FCA warranty isn't sold anymore......Only for teh opportunity to push a more profit/margin/commission related product off on a customer.

Hell, here, a Nissan Dealer will NOT sell you a Nissan Backed warranty, only their third party one
 
Not sure if this is the right place to post this but finalizing a deal with Aaron @ Mark Dodge. They have an interesting take on Ziegler, wondering if anyone has any feedback or if the finance department is just being the standard finance department...


“Ziegler offers Mopar. Now that the Mopar warranties are no longer facilitated by Mopar (meaning it’s a 3rd party that they do not disclose who it is) we ceased using them. When it came to claims, it became a “yes” or a “no” and no flexibility in between. Occasionally there can be an in between and we found that in those situations they would not side with our customers and there was no one to call to explain.

Mopar VP is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau and their affiliate Mopar Performance has a C- rating.

Perhaps Aaron @ Mark Dodge is pushing his LDS warranty (THIRD PARTY) because there is more profit/commission FOR HIS DEALERSHIP.

The MOPAR ESP is a service contract just like any of the 3rd parties...except it's from MOPAR.

My Max Care plan is a service contract with FCA, but it is a service contract. It's not the same as the basic warranty or an extended version of that as the common nomenclature would suggest ("extended warranty").

I am sure many people have had success and are happy with their 3rd party service contract that is not underwritten by the factory (Ice T, Chris Berman, etc.) but from what I've read they are the exception instead of the rule.

All of these companies (including FCA/Stellantis) make money on their product as none of them are a non-profit organization. The FCA contract is directly attached to my VIN so shows up on the dealership computers so there is no question of the coverage...and it's instantaneous. I don't have to pay now and be reimbursed later after filing a claim. The dealership approves the repair, gives me a rental, performs the repair, bills FCA, and I pay my $100 deductible and get my truck back...fixed.

The unique situation with FCA is that if their ESP program is not making money then they charge a little more for next year's trucks or raise the ESP prices. Part of vehicle pricing includes repair cost analysis for the previous model year and price adjustments to offset the company's repair costs.

I also don't have to worry if MOPAR will be around in 2025 to support the service contract I purchased. (y)

Good points. I'd never buy a THIRD PARTY warranty, period. I'd buy a genuine, factory backed one.

As stated earlier, a dealership will make up lies about the factory warranty just to build selling points for their third party warranty, which is profit/margin/commission related.

I've been in two RAM dealers that didn't have any of the information on the MOPAR warranty posted..
Nissan dealer would NOT sell a Nissan factory warranty, but they WOULD sell their $1,000 more third party warranty.

I appreciate how transparent and easy Aaron makes the process so I wouldn’t mind buying the ESP through them so they get a little kickback. That being said, I’m not about to buy some garbage, waste of money.

Glad I know that Sam is a she. When I get my 3rd party I will give her a call and purchase through her if they give me a deal!

Maybe more appropriate of a question? Can someone with a warranty purchased from Ziegler talk about their experience utilizing the warranty coverage? I see a lot of people here getting a great deal on their warranty but has anyone here had to use it yet?

And Greg, please don’t take this as accusatory or offensive but are you a sales person or affiliated with RAM? You post a lot in this thread with a lot of authority. Are you just a fan like us? I mean that as a sincere question, you seem to know everything about warranties and I’ve appreciated your replies but you seem to know a LOT about them.

I got some great feedback, as usual from this forum. Obviously hit a nerve with some ;)

Mark Dodge gives great deals and is a great dealer. IMO, if the business office trying to push a their preferred ESP, just like every other dealer, is the worst thing about them, I’ll take that :)

Enjoy the new truck. A lot of salespeople suck. I’be never worked in the industry and so I don’t know what it’s like on the other side of the desk but I hate being screwed over especially when I’m about to spend a huge chunk of my salary on a truck. It was good you asked the question and I hope we can all learn and figure out what’s going on. It’d suck for you to get a mile down the road and not have the warranty you thought you were purchasing.

No, I'm not a dealership salesperson, nor do I work for RAM (I have worked at the same retail store for 21 years), I just have happened to own several(RAM's). I just happen to do a lot of research on anything I buy, whether it be a $40,000 truck, a TV, or a computer. While I never tend to buy extended warranties on consumer electronics, I always seem to buy them on an automotive purchases.
I've been thru the finance manager's pitch to drill an extended warranty a number of times, almost always a third party warranty.

I happened to discover Zeigler a couple of years ago (before I was even a forum member). They were very helpful folks, answered every question I had about ESP's, and at the time, had the best price on the internet. I researched the Factory ESP's. This was on a F150 at the time (They sell those ESP's) as well. Down the road, switched to RAM, and knew I could get a good price online as well.

So, in response to your query, I suppose that I do know a lot about extended warranties. I've read every word of the contract, and when I had a question or uncertainty, I'd ask questions. So, some experience buying them, using them, and keeping on top of online prices to make sure I always got the best price. Happened to run upon the promo codes for Zeigler, so I try to share those online where other folks can save some money as well, and NO, I do not work for Zeigler.

I've always tried to share accurate information on the forum, and share my experiences with my RAM, as well as trying to answer questions what ever the subject matter is. Just happens to be extended warranties.

So, what is super frustrating is when another forum member comes in and starts posting false or inaccurate information (for purposes of this response, extended warranties). Sorry, but I will call that person out in a heart beat, because its not fair to other people reading messages in the forum. (Example, the most recent posts---OP posted quotes from a dealer who was flat out lying about warranties in order to sell their own---also bashing another online dealer).

There are about three or four actual dealers selling the Genuine Mopar/FCA Extended Warranties. I share experiences with Zeigler because they are the ones I've dealt with over the years and I always felt like I got the best price from them, and the people over there are super friendly and helpful. But, everyone should do their own research online, and buy from who they want. If $25 made a difference from online retailer to retailer, I might go with the cheaper retailer, but I'd also consider repeat business from another. Its the same Mopar ESP.

So, in the end, if you post false/inaccurate information (esp's in this thread), you will be called out (and I have no problems calling you a liar if you post information I know is false). If one person is causing problems, as a forum member, I will report them. If I have an experience to share, I will. If I find a better price, I'll let forum members know, so they can save as well (doesn't matter who the retailer is).

This is a public internet forum. There are going to be disputes between us, everyone isn't going to get along, and message threads will always deviate away from the original message content. To try to participate in a useful informative way, but if anyone doesn't like my posts, then it is your right to block me.

But you did post information quoted from the dealership which was highly inaccurate, and possibly misleading to anyone else reading the message thread. Enjoy your experience with Mark Dodge, and his "transparency"....

You stateed you was just looking for honest feedback on what I was being told by the dealers business office, got honest feedback. They flat out lied to you.

I bought my truck from a dealership that is owned by two brothers, one of which I have a golf association with. I got a good deal, he made money I didn't get butt hurt. As soon as I stepped into the finance office the experience changed. I felt like I was meeting with a malevolent power, the room got dark, thunder started to clap. Ok just joking, but out came the 3rd party warranties and service agreements, with no mention of FCA backed agreements, it was like they didn't exist. Every dealer no matter how good of a dealer they are push warranties and service agreements that are the most profitable to them, some even require all services to be done at their dealership, watch out for those. Ended up going with Zeigler 8/125. Have not used it yet as I am not to that point, likely not many have here since the 5gens are still pretty new. I hope I never have to use it, I will not be one of those that gets pissed that I bought it and didn't use it, I will be very happy if it remains as unused insurance.

Some of the confusion can possibly be that the FCA service contracts is a division of FCA just like Chrysler, Ram, Chrysler Capital, etc. It is part of the corporation but a separate entity under the Corporate structure. No different than any other auto corporation but that nuance can certainly be used to try to get someone to pay more for a non-Mopar contract.

My dealer was great when I purchased my 19 but the finance guy wouldn't even talk Mopar contract, they wanted to sell me a $4800 third party 8/125 that I got from Nichols for about $2300.

I suspect FCA could go out of the service contract business but I'm much more comfortable with their situation than a third party one. Buyer beware.
