Daily driving, I average around 16 MPG in suburban/city stop and go traffic. My lifetime average (7,000 miles) is about 15.4. My wife's 2018 Malibu gets around 36 city and 42 highway; so that makes up for the RAM.
What’s the average mpg you guys are getting I am pleased with mine...
I am seeing 15.7 average City and hiway combo.....I do try to coast when possible...my ECO light seems to shut off above 75 mph....hills, even moderate ones seem to kill mileage..1000ft elevation, 3.92 Gears and 2 wheel drive LimitedI have 2300 miles now and I am at 15.3 lifetime average. No I did not hand calculate, so the "real" number is lower. I must note that I live at basically 4500 feet so there is that issue, and the speed limits in Idaho are some of the highest. Our Interstate is 80 and the highway is 70, so that is about 85% of my daily 20 mile commute.
To compare, I have a 2016 1 ton Duramax long bed that is tuned and deleted (since 200 miles) that was my daily driver in winter and towed my 44 foot 5th wheel about 10 times a summer. My hand calculated lifetime average with 32,000 miles is 15.6.
I have not hooked up anything to my Ram yet, so that number will lower as camping season is here and I have a 28 foot bumper pull that the Ram will be towing. At this point in my trucks life, I only see the ECO light when I am coasting or below 40mph. I can make it come on at 39, but if I set the cruise to 40 it will shut off. I guess sitting at 4500 feet robs just enough power from the motor for it to not be able to use the ECO mode much. I really try not to look at the gas mileage as I enjoy the truck a lot and I figure that is all that matters.
Yes they likely would have, however you would be running about the same rpm with 3.92 in 7th as 3.21 in 6th.Wonder if 3.92’s would have held 7th on the same hills...
YepAveraged about 17.4 mpg during first 1000 miles, 3.21 gears, tires inflated to specs, 20" wheels, OEM tires and suspension, 87 octane Shell, mostly short trips, non-aggressive driving. From short segments of 55 mph driving, looks as though I could approach 21 mpg on longer, leisurely trips, but no hard evidence of that yet.
