Daily driving, I average around 16 MPG in suburban/city stop and go traffic. My lifetime average (7,000 miles) is about 15.4. My wife's 2018 Malibu gets around 36 city and 42 highway; so that makes up for the RAM.

Lol at gear ratio. It’s always funny to me the things people have no idea about. And how important it actually is to your driving experience

But I suppose most people are just trying to get from point A to point B, with a little flare or comfort.

Reminds me of when people drive something like a NBS Chevy lifted with super swappers and assume all lifted trucks are like this.

A salesman told me yesterday itll go up a couple mpg once you get around 10k miles on the 5.7 so theres still hope for better mileage. maybe even better at 50k

Here is a little round trip I went on to Lake Placid and back home over the weekend. Plenty of hills and flat road to test out a true gas mileage trip. No major interstate roads on this trip all mileage is on the Adirondack roads some were pretty bumpy too. Filled up tank on way up near my house and came home with 1/8 below half a tank. 51900C4E-63AF-4D48-AAC9-4766CCF97F02.jpeg

Bought the truck a week ago exactly and did a trip this weekend. Best mpg on the highway was 22.8 between 65-70mph

A lot of heavy city driving in the average but over the first 700+ miles it’s doing well

Averaged about 17.4 mpg during first 1000 miles, 3.21 gears, tires inflated to specs, 20" wheels, OEM tires and suspension, 87 octane Shell, mostly short trips, non-aggressive driving. From short segments of 55 mph driving, looks as though I could approach 21 mpg on longer, leisurely trips, but no hard evidence of that yet.

I hover around 19mpg average in a limited with Hemi no etorque, and 3.21 gears. I should have taken a picture, but we just drove from Southeast Missouri to southern Colorado and back. I think we averaged right at 19.5 overall.

I've noticed my mpg is best (22ish) between 55-65mph. I have 14k miles.

What I can't get over regarding the overall mpg is how easily it is affected (even after 14k miles) by sitting still 5 minutes or driving 20 miles at 55mph.
Anybody know how it is calculated? There's no way driving 20 miles at 55mph should affect the overall by almost a whole mpg.

Yea, it seems to only be on the last 500 miles or something. I haven’t figured it out but it’s definitely not a lifetime average like most other vehicles.

I averaged 24mpg on a recent long distance hwy trip at a stead 70 -75mph hand calculated was within .5mpg of that so the computer was pretty accurate. Was very impressed with that number. I'm averaging around 16.5mpg per tank at home with 70% of that being city driving. I'm at 7k miles now. I was only getting in the 14mpg range for the first few thousand miles though. got much better after 4500 miles or so. 6YCrcNEy.jpeg

I have 2300 miles now and I am at 15.3 lifetime average. No I did not hand calculate, so the "real" number is lower. I must note that I live at basically 4500 feet so there is that issue, and the speed limits in Idaho are some of the highest. Our Interstate is 80 and the highway is 70, so that is about 85% of my daily 20 mile commute.

To compare, I have a 2016 1 ton Duramax long bed that is tuned and deleted (since 200 miles) that was my daily driver in winter and towed my 44 foot 5th wheel about 10 times a summer. My hand calculated lifetime average with 32,000 miles is 15.6.

I have not hooked up anything to my Ram yet, so that number will lower as camping season is here and I have a 28 foot bumper pull that the Ram will be towing. At this point in my trucks life, I only see the ECO light when I am coasting or below 40mph. I can make it come on at 39, but if I set the cruise to 40 it will shut off. I guess sitting at 4500 feet robs just enough power from the motor for it to not be able to use the ECO mode much. I really try not to look at the gas mileage as I enjoy the truck a lot and I figure that is all that matters.
I am seeing 15.7 average City and hiway combo.....I do try to coast when possible...my ECO light seems to shut off above 75 mph....hills, even moderate ones seem to kill mileage..1000ft elevation, 3.92 Gears and 2 wheel drive Limited

Great mpg. Guess your choice of a 3.21 was correct.
hope to see those numbers as well.

I was surprised at how quickly the 3.21 downshifted out of 8 down to 6 on some grades on I-40 going W past Asheville NC up into the Smokey Mts. Wonder if 3.92’s would have held 7th on the same hills...

Definitely didn't have the same ability to stay in the top gear like my 6 speed, 2.7 ecoboost F150 did a couple years earlier over the same road.. That truck never saw above 22 mpg though.

My limited with 3.92’s per the computer has an average of 17.1. The truck has 4K on it now. I do a mix of city and highway and have some towing thrown in there too.

That’s right about where the 2014 Chevy 6.2l that i traded in on this truck got.

I have zero complaints and I expect it to get a little better as it breaks in more. I run 93 octane in mine since where I generally get gas they only offer 87 and 93. I think it runs a lot better on 93 than it does on 87.
