Gas mileage on the 2019 5.7 hemi without etorque

Yes I have a tonneau cover too. my 19 Ram gets the worst MPG out of all 3 rams I have owned. I had a 2016,2017, and now the 2019.
There has to be some problem because the 2019 Ram 1500 has the full electrical fan instead of the mechanical fan like on the 2018 and earlier model rams with Hemi 5.7l engine m models. That should get an extra 3 mpg better on the 2019 models but instead they get 2 mpg worse why?????
I know that the mufflers are very restrictive TRASH and a magnaflow muffler and a K&N drop in gets me about 16.5 mpg combined and thats still bad! Truck is 3 months old and 4wd with air suspension.
I wonder if the new for this year carbon filter on top part of filter cover is partially to blame? I know it loses 4.5 horsepower on a 4 cylinder car put i dont know how much that affects a 5.7l V8.

Well I’ve had my truck now for almost a month and I’m averaging 20Litres per hundred kilometres. If anybody out there can let me know how they’re making out that would be great thank you ?
I am averaging 15.7 MPG mostly Highway and 75 to 80 avg speed. 5.7 Hemi without e torque but 392 rear

Just finished an 800 mile trip down I-95 from Maryland to Florida and Fuelio app says I hit 20.14 MPG going around 75 MPH entire trip. City driving is @ 15 MPG. Tonneau covered.

Just drove from Louisville to Panama City and got 21.7 mpg driving 70-75 mph on I-65. She's got a tonneau cover.

I had some random dude approach me at the grocery store as I got out of my truck. He was eyeballing it. Then he asked what type of fuel mileage I was getting with the hemi. I told him 15 mpg, as that is what I'm averaging floating around town. He then informed me that he used to have an older Hemi that got 36 MPG. I told him he should have kept that one. I've had just about every truck model in both gas and diesel since 1996, exactly zero of them ever got 20 MPG, much less 36 MPG. BUT.......Ram Care's, if such a unicorn ever existed, and I just missed it while driving some other brand, you may want to bring that one back.

Not gospel on the pic. I am more inquisitive on what RPM people are seeing going 70mph? My 16 with 3.92 did not rev at this level, seems a bit high. Only difference was 16 had 275/60R20 while 19 has 275/55R20, not much difference.

It might clear up some confusion if all the posters edit their posts with

trim/payload capacity
drivetrain
axle ratio
engine
mods

highway or city or both
average speeds (can get off google maps)
hand calculated mpg.

just a suggestion

Whit my 2018 Rebel 3.92 diff stock tires I was getting high 12 liter to 100K.
My new 2020 Sport, I only have 800km on the truck and do not have an average yet.

2019 Bighorn, all stock except for AEM air filter. Have tonneau cover, stock 5.7, 3.21 rear, 4 X 4, Wildpeak AT3W's no lift, 18" tires. . Hand calc: Trip: TX to NJ to TX, 21.8 mpg, 70-75 most Highway speeds, to include in Hills, mountains, curves, highway, city.

Continue to get 11.6 mpg in town and around 21 on the highway. Nothing compared to the Ford Ecoboost, think I was 15 city and 25 highway.

trim/payload capacity - Limited
drivetrain - 4x2
axle ratio - 3.21
engine - 5.7
mods - none
highway or city - 80% city
hand calculated mpg. - Hand calc was 18.4

If 14 MPG was OK with me, I wouldn't have bought a 1500 Hemi. I would have stepped up to a Power Wagon or a F-250 with that new 7.3L gas motor. Those are getting the same MPG, but have tons more power, payload, and towing. More truck for the money.

I've been there before.... driving half-ton trucks with V8s just trying with everything I could to pull 15 MPG out of a tank. Never again. If I'm going to pay that penalty, I'm going to at least get something for it.

Just did a 4700 mile trip from MA out to Colorado and Sturgis SD...pulling a Jayco 24 ft Hybrid ,total weight being pulled about #6000, averaged about 11mpg. Mostly flat terrain though. ( Got caught in the Aug 10, Derecho storm in Iowa! 112mph winds.. youtube that! ).

So far I am very happy with my gas mileage. I am known to be a little heavy on the gas pedal. For the first 1002.0 miles I averaged 19.4mpg I have a 54 mile commute each way to work. The drive is 2/3 highway, 1/3 secondary roads. I have found that it gets great gas mileage on the 40-50 mph speed limit secondary roads while driving 5-10mph above.

trim/payload capacity - Bighorn BTS edition Quad Cab
drivetrain - 4X4
axle ratio - 3.21
engine - 5.7 Hemi no Etorque
mods - Tonneau cover
