I just turned 1500 miles on my 5.7 hemi 3.92 rear end with no Etorque. Waiting to open her up at 2,000 miles. Has anyone had any issues? I keep reading how the new models are lighter and faster, but every video I see, the 4th gens seem faster.

You should hit full throttle (briefly) even during break-in. Mine gets a good highway launch at least a couple of times a week!

As SpeedyV states, don't beat or abuse it, but vary the throttle input throughout the break in to set the engine correctly. Don't maintain full throttle with a heavy load, but definitely surge it every now and then. When on the highway, don't maintain a constant low throttle input; let off to let it slow down a bit, then give it enough gas to catch back up every so often. Essentially, make it work a little and then let it rest a bit over and over throughout the break in.

This is also reflected in your Owner's Manual.

Go ahead and mat it now if that is something you feel you need to do. It certainly won't get away from you. These trucks are pretty pokey. All trucks are in stock form. The things weigh about 5,000 +/- lbs. Even if they had 600 hp they won't be fast. A lot of Ford drivers think their 3.5l Ecoboost is a rocket. Not hardly.....

I feel like my 4th gen was faster, which makes no sense since my 4th gen had 3.21 gears, and my DT has 3.92's, is lighter, and more aerodynamic, with otherwise the same drivetrain. All I can assume is they changed up how the transmission shifts, or maybe throttle response. Because it just doesn't feel like it pulls as hard when it drops gears as my 2017 did

Wild idea - the DT has more gears so the difference between gears is less. Could shifting to a closer gear give you the feeling of less power? I.E. your 4th gen had a larger gear jumps so maybe you felt it more?

You're mention of "drops gears" made me think this way.

My 4th gen was a 2017 so it also had the 8 speed, I think I've heard someone say they changed some of the gear ratios between the 4th and 5th gen 8 speeds, so that could play a roll. It really feels like they've softened the gear changes or something.

The 4th gen would hit hard and pull, the 5th gen just feels more smooth and less abrupt. It could just be that they "improved" the transmission and I just prefer a more aggressive shift and perceive it as faster.

I agree, my dad has a 2017 with 3.21 gears and feels faster. I told him that after I get another 1k miles, we will have to run them.

I feel the same way, my 2016 was equipped with exactly the same drive train and gearing and yet it did feel faster than my 2019. I believe that most of the difference is in how quite and composed this truck is compared to my DS. The DS was louder and rode a little more truck like IMO. Hence, felt faster even though it is probably exactly the same.

That is a good possibility, the ride in the DS was decent for a truck, but nothing like how refined the DT is, especially for a truck. My DT is louder than my DS was thanks to a muffler delete, but before that this truck was seriously near silent.

I think you're on to something with that feeling more like a truck might've made it feel faster. It was coarser, perhaps that does play into a feel of speed. Kinda like how drive 100 in a 94 Ram felt like you were on the brink of death, and doing 100 in the 2019 is like you're going 70

They probably changed the computer strategy for throttle inputs. Previous Gen's may have opened the throttle more with similar pedal inputs from one Gen to the next. Was probably done to meet some EPA requirement.

Why not compare stock 0-60 times from the 4th gens to the 0-60 thread here? That would be the defining answer with evidence to back it up..

Hammered mine quite a few times now, certainly, didn't wait to do so. Trucks got good power, just rolled over 1K miles, but my foot was in it well within 50 miles on the ticker or so.

Well, all I can add to this thread is...when I stomp down hard on my skinny pedal (2019 Ram 5.7 4x4) wife says “ you get this huge grin on your face when you do that” I say to her “It’s a HEMI baby

Here are the TFL 0-60 times in Colorado. You can see the turbo at high altitude advantage. It also verifies the no replacement for displacement saying on the naturally aspirated.

My '19 is definitely faster, especially off the line than my '12 w /4.10s. I think the larger size of the 5th gens makes it's hard to tell how fast it is.

The Roush Nitemare F150 I think is the quickest truck out there that you can walk into a dealership and buy. 0 to 60 is 3.9 sec.

It'll be interesting to see what the TRX will do.

And way back in the day (mid-2000s), the Dodge Ram SRT-10 regular cab could run 0-to-60 in 4.9s.

It would’ve been slower at altitude, but it might still be the fastest truck on this list.

Even further back, the 1991 GMC Syclone ran 0-to-60 in 4.3s. But that wasn’t a 1/2-ton.

My 1999 Lightning was really quick for its time. I think 5.6 or something 0-60. And the supercharger sounded pretty sweet.
