Engine shutting down while driving

My 22 Big Horn doesn't have this recall. Does it only affect the 5.7 etorque maybe? I have the 3.6 in mine if that makes any difference.
5.7 eTorque

Make a report.
It could be several reasons. Here are some possibilities:

-The engine is low on oil

-There is a problem with the fuel system

-There is an issue with the ignition system

-The cooling system is not working properly

My recently purchased 22 Ram Rebel E torque did this 2 days in a row, 1st time the battery light cycled on and off until I shut the truck down and re-started; 2nd time no lights. This is a very dangerous situation. I dropped my my truck off at the dealer this morning, hopefully resolving the recall will fix the issue.

I bought my truck brand new with 500 miles on it Oct. 14th 21. I made it to around 70k when the truck would stutter and hesitate to drive. Took it to dealership and said No codes, nothing wrong after 2 days of "checking it". Brought it back at 76k and truck would hardly drive, but yet said they couldn't figure it out and sent me on my way. Was driving home at 85k and truck stalled going 75mph while on a 2 lane highway. The truck rolled to about 30 mph and completely died and locked up steering wheel and activated the E brake as I was almost safely off the road. After trying time and time again, I finally got the truck to start and off the road. Called dealership and was told they wouldn't tow it as it was out of warranty at this point. So I had no choice but to limp it to them 400 miles away. They let it sit over weekend and went to test drive it and drove as it would normally. Sent me back out with it, only for it to happen again at 99k and stall. Same process as before and had to lug it to them out of my pocket. They Finally agreed to replace fuel pump, but out of my pocket conviently since they sent it back numerous times and now out of any warranty. At 105k, I took it back to dealership with same issue as before and was told there was nothing to do and sent me on my way. At 111k it stalled on highway at night and almost caused a major crash as the E brake set it's self while traveling at 45mph in a construction zone. Limped to dealer yet again, and they replaced the EVAP cannister as part of their guessing game. Now today at 115.5k I have dropped it off again for same issue. Stalled while traveling 75 on Interstate and almost caused me to hit a pole as I only have so much room to get off the road before it shuts down. I have since called MOPAR themselves and have yet to hear more as the Dealership has not helped at all. This has ALL transpired over the course of 1 year with brand new 2021 Ram 1500 V6 Penstar. Please help.

you have put 115K miles on your truck in 1 year?

Yes. Roughly 13k a month with what time I am able to drive it. I use it to travel to and from location for work. Bought a new truck so I wouldn't have to worry about ******** and have ended up with more problems than my 2001 truck ever gave me in 12+ years.

Sounds like your in my neck of the woods. Sure hope I don’t have the same problems.

2019 Ram Rebel (5.7 eco) here, I’ve noticed driving on the freeway (just in mornings) that my truck has blinked off and on like it shut off really quickly. Today it happened and it almost swerved or potentially rolled as I’m assuming the emergency breaks kicked in. This is the first time THAT has happened but the 3rd time something happened like this. I’m going to take it to the dealer today but I’m not sure if it’s because I’m not letting it ideal before i leave home or if it’s something else, I’ve read a couple things and seen it could be not idling long enough before I just get on the road. Either way doing 65-70 on a highway at 5:30 in the am and having it shut off like that or blink off is too dangerous and i love mopars but i dont want to chance this. (59,963 miles on it) brought it at 55xxx from dealership and this is the first time I’ve experienced this. has anyone else in a rebel gone through this?

Update, i drove to the cafe on site for lunch, check engine light came on, weird, made it to the cafe ate lunch get back in truck doesn’t respond to key fob unlock, ok, use the key to unlock get it truck doesn’t start or do anything at all. currently waiting to get it towed to the dodge dealership. I know it’s not the battery, brand new battery is in it, but it has to be something electrical, im hoping anyway.

So, my 21 e torque did this today. Bought the truck brand new with 19 miles on it last September. My wife and I were making a dump run, and we hopped in, using my key fob, I tried to start it. I noticed it didn't seem to respond to the button push at first, so I hit it again, then it just goes to accessory. I had my foot on the brake the whole time. I finally get it to start. Riding through my neighborhood, I came up to a stop sign, and as I was rolling through, I noticed I had no throttle. Truck cut off. I was able to roll out the way, and restarted just fine, and had no issues afterwards, but man. This truck has been nothing but a headache since we bought it. Currently sits at 18k miles. Anybody have a legit fix for this? I'd imagine by this point there's something the dealers can do. Between this forum and the pages on fb, it's gotta be a thing, right?

What was the recall? I've had it happen several times over the past year. Dealer thinks its related to a low battery voltage. I'm thinking "brand new off the lot"?
Please send me that recall info. Truck is at dealership but they cannot duplicate it. Thanks...

2021 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab, e-torque. The truck randomly turns off, happened to me once and my wife twice. When it shuts off the brake auto engages! As it should, but this shut off deal alot of people are experiencing is going to cause an accident. Of course the dealer can't find any codes, can't find any problems and cannot get the truck to stall on their 3 mile drive.
Any ideas yet? Dealership has had my truck for 2 days and cannot find any causes. Thx

I'm searching for answers also. Same issues with it killing. Only when the auto-stop is engaged.

Well, mine has done that now also. Both times at low speed when making a turn while I was adjusting something in the center stack. (1 time changing XM stations, one time adjusting HVAC). Turned off, auto brake engaged. Have an appt with dealer next week. Was hoping OP had an update? Edit to say: 2021 Ram 1500 Limited.
Any info on what they found. My dealership cannot find anything.

New to the forum here. Have a 22’ Rebel with the 5.7 e-torque. Just hit 3k miles today. Was coming to a stop at a stop sign and immediately turning right. Came to a slight rolling stop the truck shut off and never turned back on. Stopped right in the middle of the road after I made the turn and auto placed itself in park with the e-brake on.

Has anyone got any further info/updates on this? I filed a complaint through NHTSA immediately when I got home… this is going to get someone killed.

Same happened me for the 2nd time in 15k miles... Dealer appointment scheduled for Monday again (12/19/22) ... They couldn't duplicate the issue last time either. I've tried in the last 2 days and can't replicate it.

Something with a slow speed stop /rolling stop and battery voltage drops suddenly IMO.

12/22 edit: same as before... Couldn't duplicate. Asking for a StarCase... @ RamCares

V8 etorque
(Purchased: 3/7/22)

Details below...

Tue. 12/14/22 ~ 3:03 pm (15,222 miles)

- while making a left turn from Whitehall RD onto Sullivan road the truck abruptly shut itself off, went into PARK & applied the e-Brake with my truck stuck in the oncoming Lane. Oncoming traffic luckily stopped for me to clear the road.

- Same scenario as before, with the “Battery” fault symbol on the dash but was able to start the truck, release the e-brake, and get it in DRIVE again to get going again. During the rest of the 30 min drive to work, I had the digital gauges up on the radio and could see the battery voltage was at 11.8v - 12.0v for the entire drive to work.

Tue. 12/13/22 ~ 5:33 pm (15,252 miles)

- After sitting for 2hrs, I came out to call the dealer service for an appointment from the truck and saw the digital gauges on the radio and the dash cluster back at 13.9v -14.0v.

The issue hasn't repeated itself (yet).

- The only other recent change I can think of with the truck was that I reconnected it to my home WiFi for future radio SW updates/downloads a few days before. (v26.17 is getting released? TSB 08-211-22)

** No issues between 7,427 miles and 15,222 miles? **

------------------------

Sat. 7/16/22 ~ 3:05pm to 3:40pm

- While pulling out of my neighborhood onto Centerville Road, the truck abruptly shut itself off, went into PARK & applied the e-Brake with my truck sticking into the roadway about a foot (& another vehicle behind me). Oncoming traffic in the lane was able to go around me still. Thankfully traffic was light and I wasn’t stuck further out in the road when it happened… or Mon-Fri when it’s busier.

- I noticed the “Battery” fault symbol on the dash but was able to start the truck, release the e-brake, and get it in DRIVE again to get going again. During the rest of the 35 min drive to work, I had the digital gauges up on the radio and could see the battery voltage was at 11.9v - 12.0v for the entire drive to work.

Sun. 7/17/22 ~ 12:15am to 12:45am

- After sitting for 8hrs, I came out expecting to need a jumpstart to get home and found the truck started right up.

- I pulled up the digital gauges on the radio and the dash cluster and saw the battery voltage was at 13.9v -14.0v. That seemed weird, but perhaps the 48v Li eTorque Battery recharged the 12v system?

- During the 35min drive home from work, I noticed the battery voltage continued to drop to 13.3v, 13,2v, & 13.0v by the time I got home.

Mon. 7/18/22 ~ 7:30am (night drop)

- Dropped the truck off to get it looked at/potential issue entered into the system.

** Dealer kept the truck for a week and had someone drive it on short parts runs in town for 60 miles or so and couldn't duplicate it **
(can't really expect much more than that)

*** (April/May 2022) Previously had the Tow haul/limp mode issue with the hybrid charge Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) in the first 2k miles that was 'fixed' with a SW update. (TSP 08-93-22) ***

how long was the truck running?
imo the coolant temp gauge shows a low temperature

show pictures to dealer

"With the engine is running and the truck ready, Ram eTorque's motor generator unit delivers 48-volt current to a 430 watt-hour lithium-ion Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC)-Graphite battery. The battery pack on these Ram pickups includes a 3-kilowatt DC-to-DC converter. This holds the battery's charge and converts 48 volts to 12 volts so that power can be use to power Ram 1500's accessories and charge its conventional 12-volt lead-acid battery."
