I have a rattle that seems to be coming from the steering column or dash display panel. The frequency sounds like plastic on plastic and/or aluminum, also sounds like a washer on a loose bolt vibrating and similar to the sound i used to hear on the old cars when the speedometer was about to go out when the little plastic cogs were going bad. The rattle is loudest around 45mph but is not consistent. The rattle started around 20,000 miles in October 2019. I noticed on cloudy days it would not rattle and seemed to be affected by heat. The dealer could not hear the sound so i drove all winter with no problems BUT as Spring arrived so came the rattle. I took the truck to the dealership where they were very reluctant to work on it if they cant hear it. After about 5 trips to the dealer they finally tore into it and thought they had it fixed but the noise came right back after about 50 miles of driving. It is now August and I just got the truck back after another week in the shop, where they supposedly tore out the entire dash and replaced the accelerator/brake pedal assembly (not sure why) and assured me they had found it. Within 15 miles of driving , "ITS BACK"! I am now waiting on the dealership to contact me when they have a loaner available and now have 35,500 miles on the truck. Another thing is the sound seems to be instigated after a mild jolt on the highway or a turn out of a drive.
