Anyone experience some sort of glitch in their cruise control?
I was towing on the highway with cruise set to 75 mph and notice this sudden acceleration and realized that cruise setting jumped to 99. If I wasn't towing (I think the weight prevent the truck from "taking off") this could have been a disaster. I bought the truck new in 2022, and this is the first time this happened to me, so not sure if this will remain a onetime thing and never happens again. But wondering if anyone else have experienced this and potential causes.

While I havent tried in my RAM, every other vehicle I have owned limited the speed at which you could set cruise control . Most were 80 or 85 max.

You must have held the set plus down. It will jump 5 at a time up to 99.

I assure you these RAM’s don’t limit the cruise at 80 or 85. My cruising speed when I was still commuting back and forth to work on the freeway was 82-83 mph and still worked fine after that. I’m guessing over the life of my last 3 RAM’s I did that for at least 200,000 miles.

Perhaps I didn't say it clearly. It was already set to 75, and I was driving like a normal person would. And it all happened too fast to be incrementing up to 99. On top of all of that, if my hand moved and held down a button without my brain registering it, I have bigger problems. :)

We're regret to hear of an experience as such. Our team would like to take a look into this matter more in-depth. We have already reached out to you for further assistance. Thank you, and we hope to hear from you soon.

I guess there is an extremely slight chance that it actually glitched out and set itself to 99 on its own.

I'm not sure if RAM is using ECC memory in its vehicles, ECC memory - Wikipedia , so theoretically a bit flip could occur, and depending how the system was programed, jumping to 99 MPH might be the outcome.
I get that. Just seems unlikely given all the FCA vehicles out there driving with cruise control everyday. But again, there is a slight chance this one off glitch happened. I'm not saying it didn't, just saying there could have been something else happening.

This past winter, my truck started automatically accelerating on its own. It was a gradual acceleration similar to if cruise control was on, but it wasn't. I could only slow it down by using the brake. Scary stuff.

After it happened a second time, I removed the Pedal Commander running on my truck. I haven't experienced the problem since. It could be all coincidence, but if you've got some kind of tuner or throttle response device (like a Pedal Commander) try removing it.

I have no aftermarket mods for my truck.
Like an earlier poster said, it could have been some sort of memory (bit flip) issues.
It is not like this is an issue I can reproduce anyway. I figured I would just let the world know that this can happen :)

At least Ram is looking into it. There are always ghosts in the machine...
Maybe, but not through me. I had promised access to my truck and whatever data they wanted to pull off. I am willing to go a reasonable distance from my current residence for them to do so. But that is about it. Maybe they are waiting for more people (if any) for cruise glitches, who knows.
