So, just noticed that my back window trim is cracked. After a search I see something about a leak. I don't think I have a leak,I've not noticed water or damp, but I don't want it to get that far. Will the dealer replace? I am at about 30k and 30 months in.

thank youñ

  • The Basic Limited Warranty Coverage, or the bumper-to-bumper warranty, lasts for 3 years/36,000 miles and covers all components in the vehicle (with a few exceptions) that have any manufacturer defects. If there are any problems, Ram will repair the defective parts or replace them with OEM parts.

base warranty should cover it, requires whole assembly to be replaced.

Lots of people have had the rear window replaced under warranty.

"we'll look at it and if it is actually a warranty issue then we'll cover your rental and fix it, if it isn't then you will have to pay for the rental and the diagnostic fee".

Ugh! So I brought the truck to a different dealer after the previous one was appalling to work with. HOWEVER, they said that the window will not be fixed as it isn't actively leaking. They will note it so that next time they have a record, but that doesn't mean that if I am out of warranty that they will cover it. They acknowledge the service bulletin, but said they can't fix it. This is so frustrating as I don't want to wait for it to leak and cause problems, I want to be proactive. How do I get help on this @RamCares

ummm...don't settle for that. Let them know in writing that you consider that response to be a breach of the warranty contract, specifically a "refusal to honor the warranty" based on the window surround crack being a "manufacturer-defect" , as it is NOT normal for that part to break on it's own. Inform them you will be notifying your Attorney General's "Consumer Affairs" dept, and filing a formal complaint. See what happens. Total bs from dealer not fixing that.
