BDS 4” lift kit vs Stock ride. How do they compare.

The BDS kits level your truck or maybe give you a half in of rake....I didn't know you could only order half of their kit LOL.....Id get the rest of the kit with their Fox shocks and call it a day!
Nah I think the truck would sit an inch or more higher in the back with the full 4” BDS kit. I want the front about .5” higher than the rear because I just like that look, so I think 2” in the rear will be fine. I just have to make sure the Bilstein 5100s will work with 2” of lift. That was another reason I didn’t do the BDS back half with Fox shocks, because I planned on doing Bilstein 5100s I didn’t want Bilsteins up front and fox in the rear, I’d prefer to just do all one brand (maybe I’m just weird lol). Yeah I’m doing things different but I think it’ll turn out exactly how I want so it’s worth it to me :)

I think however you do it and it turns out your way will be a win. I’m trying to figure out if I use my Limited wheels, which 20” tire will be right for this lift. I really don’t want to buy a fourth set of wheels just to make this lift work.

Thanks! I’m not sure if Walmart is still running the special but I got my 315/60r20 Toyo RTs for $300 each and I freakin love them and you won’t find any other tire in any other decent size for that price. They’d definitely bulge out a good amount on the stock limited wheels, but I think it would look sweet. And if they fit my truck with 20x10 -24s then it’ll definitely fit yours with the stock offset. I guess mayyybe they could rub on the UCAs or something but in that case just add a small Bora wheel spacer or something.

Looks like I can go with a 35x12.50R 18 as long as the wheel is at minimum 8.5” wide. Are the Rebel wheels that wide ?

I thought you had 20” limited wheels?
I think the rebel wheels are 18x8 but that minimum width doesn’t really mean anything. You’ll be fine running those tires on the Rebel wheels for sure

I have Limited 20” wheels, 18” Laramie wheels and 18” Bighorn wheels lol.

Yes just like my exhausts and car audio, I sadly have issues lol.

Well here goes I’m going to use my Limited wheels and have a “ beefier “ looking tire installed. For those with the B.D.S lift and 20” wheels, which tires did you go with ? I don’t do anything truck related but I also don’t want to look like I skipped leg day lol. So all suggestions are welcomed.

295/60r20 or 285/65r20 would be the absolute smallest I would go personally. And you’ll definitely want to run wheel spacers to push them out a bit too. Rule of thumb is generally the higher the truck is lifted, the farther the wheels need to stick out to keep it looking proportionate. If you do the full 4” kit and your wheels are set inside the fenders or even flush it’ll look goofy

I’ve ordered 35x12.50 Nittos. If a father seeing them in my Limited wheels I’m not feeling that look, then I will acquire wider / different wheels.

Oh nice, congrats! You might be fine since you went with a wider tire

if not trust me when I say I know how to spend money to make it right ha ha ha ha..

Well luckily I’ve ordered 35” tires so I’m good there lol.

Oh nice man! It’s a rare size for sure! I got them for a killer deal so I pulled the trigger! I actually run about 36-39 depending on the outside temp and they’re great. Yeah my truck is completely stock in the rear right now. I purposely didn’t order the rear half of the BDS kit because it says it lifts the front 4” and the rear 3” so I figured it would maintain the factory rake which I didn’t want. The shop agreed that 3” in the rear was too much so they talked me into leaving the rear stock & then decide if I want to lift it. One thing I didn’t realize is that if you lift only the front then it’ll raise more than if you lift the front and rear together (because of physics). So ultimately the front of my truck raised 4.75” and the rear actually lowered .5” from stock. It looks goofy now though so I need to lift the rear. I’m thinking 2” will do the trick. I still think the BDS 3” in the rear will make the rear too high. I like the front sitting about .5” high.

Was there a cost savings for not ordering the full kit?

Sorry I’m just now responding to this, I never saw it. But yes, it’s actually a lot cheaper. If I remember correctly it saved me around $600 on parts and $500 on labor. And then I bought motofab rear spacers for $70 and install was $250. So it went from $1100 to only $320 & the ride is 100% like stock and I personally feel like the truck looks better than it would have with the full BDS 3” lift in the rear.

Looks good. I wish I would have gone that route. Thanks for the info.
