Truck in signature. I found pretty much 1 thread about this and it was 2 years ago yet all over the place so going to ask again.
My truck will sit for a long period of time sometimes (for example my last post was the last time my truck turned on, so a month ago and i likly wont turn it on this Sunday for a trip up north, so sat for 5 weeks total without ever turning on and no charger, wouldnt be suprised if my battery is shot by now tbh, if it is welp ill get another and slap it on their). That said i would like a trickle charger/tender/maintainer recommendation so i can buy one today online. The one i have is for my toys so its probably not enough for the truck and well, i use it for my toys. That said i also want to know what amp i should get as well, obviously a 12V one id assume but what amp and what are yall using specifically for these trucks? Would be great if yall could drop links or exact names so i can look them up. Thank you

I used a tender type device for my 2019, it was a H Fright 4 amp with the quick disconnect leads. You need more than the puny .75 to 1.25 amp ones IMHO.

NOCO Genius 1 is all you need.
You need to maintain a charge, not create one.. big, big difference.
Same one in use for many of your toys will work just fine maintaining the one in your truck.
Key is use it before you need it…not after :)

You use this one personally? And as other user said the whole difference between maintainer and charger. Is this good for my situation just trying to maintain the battery while sitting? Or is this a charger?

I have it hard mounted under the hood of my truck. It does an awesome job maintaining the batteries. The 5 Amp models are the most popular used by members on the HDRAMS forum, Cummins or Hemi.

IMHO, 1-2Amp maintainers are for ATV and lawn mower/cycle batteries. I do use a small 1A maintainer for my boat batteries when pulled for the winter but probably wouldn't need to do so if I wasn't too lazy to carry them from the garage to the basement.

If you just need it to maintain the charge of a good battery a 1 amp maintainer/charger is all you need. Even if the battery is somewhat depleted a 1 amp maintainer will eventually charge the battery if the truck sits for a few days.

If you need it to charge a depleted battery overnight you can spend twice as much and get a 5 amp charger/maintainer.

I use the same charger as Brutal_HO for several years now. An awesome charger. Pretty much does it all. As the battery gets fully charged it will drop down to a maintainer mode. Charges all modes of batteries found in the automotive applications. I use their 1 amp charger on my Harley when I'm not out on it.

Man thank you guys for all the help. I greatly appreciate this. Nothing against anyone else but gona go with @Brutal_HO and go with NOCO 5amp. I have a 1amp on my toys just in my head it doesnt seem enough for the truck, didnt think people actually use them for trucks. So even though i dont have a HD im gona go with the Noco 5. Appreciate the advice

question
what about an agm battery?
do you need a special unit no matter the brand for the agm?
The Coco 5amp has a setting for regular lead batteries, AGM and Lithium. It seems to a good all around charger from mu experience. I live in a small town, so I don't have to drive great distances as in a larger city so I use this charger once a month to freshen up the battery.

The 5Amp is overkill for simply maintaining a battery.
But if you forget…or wait longer… then you’ll be fine.

I left my Noco 1AMP on my 15 limited when I parked it for a month due to a back to back to back work, vaca, work trip, actually… 29 days… and when I got home, fired it up like I just got done driving it.
This was on a 5 year old factory battery, mind you…

And yes, I still use it on my Harley for the lithium I put in it. Honestly, for just maintaining a battery, even a 1AMP is fine.
But if you feel the need for more, you’ll be fine with the 2 or 5AMP too.
