Bad fuel mileage 5.7 hemi

well in the olden days when i had manual locking hubs on my 1974 Dodge Power Wagon, 360cdi and 4 speed manual trans ... when i unlocked the hubs there was a significant gain in mpg (8 mpg vs 12 mpg) ... of course people today are too lazy to get out of the truck or plan ahead and lock the hubs, it is MUCH easier to push a button
My first rig was a 77 K5 blazer, still have it actually. Warn hubs and an NP203 transfer case with part time conversion. 4wd always worked never had to worry about an actuator of some sort not doing what it was supposed to. I had a 95 Chevy extended cab, This was the last 4wd vehicle I owned that had a floor shifted manual t-case but still relied on an electric CAD to lock in the front wheels. My last 5 trucks have all been push button 4wd. Manual anything just isn't an option any more to make matters worse GM has actually done away with a low range transfer case on their lower trim 4wd models for 2019 you have to get a trail boss, LTZ or high country package just to get 4wd lo. Hopefully this isn't where everyone else is headed.

well the manual hubs always worked good for me till one night at 2 am we were racing our trks thru the pond on my farm ... there may have been some adult beverages involved ... and a "friend" unlocked one hub .. needless to say they had to pull me out of the pond ... it was still one of those nights i will never forget ... and a couple of months later during a blizzard the "friend" got his Jeep stuck and i was doing donuts around his Jeep making him beg me to pull him out ... yep manual locking hubs were great fun

Again.... stay on topic guys. 4x4 transfer case discussion do not belong with gas mileage discussion.

I only have 60 ish miles on my rebel but so far I'm at 16.8 mixed driving. I'm happy with that considering the size of the truck.

1100 miles, 4wd (only 2wd engaged), I average 13.5 MPG and I do mostly highway driving... now sure what is going on, time to dig through the forums and find the solution.

7500 miles still only getting 12.5 mpg, was getting 16.5 to 18 with my 2012 ram

2200 miles and 16.9 overall and it slowly keeps climbing and
I drive faster than I should.

Note: I use remote start very little, normally if I use it I am 1 minute or less from
climbing into the truck.

13.7 MPG at 4,000 miles, mostly highway, 2WD, mid 70s on the highway and average on the pedal. I’ve stopped remote starting to try to conserve fuel. I haven’t noticed a difference. I’m not thrilled with the fuel consumption.

I’m only getting 10mpg. 3.92s ,2” lift , 35” tires. 500 miles on it.

i too am disappointed right now. Have 500 miles on it and seeing 8-10 mostly city and 13-14 highway. I hope this improves. Truck is all stock.

Curious.....you replaced stock tires? If so, did you recalibrate speedo?

The dealer said that they did. I had the dealer install it all for me before they delivered the vehicle to me.

Nearly 6,000 miles, 90% city, ~10% hwy/fwy, drive very conservatively/easy, seeing ~<12mpg average. Stock Limited.

3800 miles am I'm driving very calm and only averaging 13.3-14. Have been using remote start to warm the truck up in the morning so hoping that gets better as the cold goes away. My 2016 challeneger scat pack was getting slightly better about 15mpg and i drove that car hard.

Yeah, I live along the highway. Eg, Highway traffic is built around the city (San Antonio) and I'm getting about 12-13mpg. Granted most of these trips are stop and go as I'm only on the highway about 1-2 miles for my commute to work.

However, the claims of "19 combined" or like 18 city is just downright inaccurate in my opinion almost to the point of false advertisement. If the claim is around 17 city and you're getting 12, that's 30% difference.... 30%, that's about 90 extra miles per tank of gas.

I'm hoping warmer weather helps significantly. I'm also in frozen IA and thus far my best tank is 14.6 in mixed conditions. In pure in town, I'm getting about 10.5. I drive like the old man that I am, so it isn't my right foot. I have a nice 8 hour roadtrip on Saturday that I'm interested in seeing the results from. Btw, in my Fuelly log my best fill ups so far have been with 89, even though that requires ethanol mixing around here.

500 mile trip yesterday, interstate driving, average speed likely around 73. 15.5mpg.
