Just bought a 2019 ram Longhorn. I was backing out of a parking spot and the backup camera stopped working. Now it just has green lines running across the screen. This is not a good start since it's only my second day with the truck. What do I do now

Mine doesnt work either. I get a blue screen with "Rear camera unavailable." I bought mine used with 10k miles, it is a limited with the 12" Uconnect. When i bought it, the camera never worked. After a day or two, it started working on its own. After 2 months, it stopped working again and its been several weeks. Tried the battery disconnect method with no luck. Having a hard time getting it in to the dealership.

Have you checked the plug where it plugs in under the tailgate to make sure it's together good. Or unplug it and check and make sure the connections are clean.

I have not done that yet. Are there multiple plugs in that area? If so, would you be able to describe which one i would need to look at? That could be my issue. I know the Uconnect needs an update or replaced all together. I have issues with the left half of the truck not playing audio through the speakers randomly (with Harmon kardon system) i usually just turn the unit off and back on and it is good to go.

I don't know exactly but you can follow the wiring harness out of the tailgate and find the right plug.

I went through weeks of troubleshooting my camera issues when I first got my truck. The dealership checked the wiring and replaced a harness that runs into the tailgate with no effect. Mine presented green lines when there was high humidity, and blue screen after I drove through a car wash or very heavy rains (until it dried out, then it worked fine).
The dealership replaced the entire camera unit and it has worked flawlessly now for 5 months. Keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll have no more issues. :)

Sure I'm not sure how to send you a message. It seems to be working fine now. I noticed that when I take turns I hear a thump directly under my feet I am trying to figure out what it is. It does it when i turn left or right but not everytime.

So I have read through this thread and others and I too have had an issues with my backup camera. I did not get the blue screen others are getting my camera would not respond to putting the truck in reverse or choosing the camera icon in controls. I wound up disconnecting the battery to resolve the issue but obviously this is a band-aid. Is there an update I need on my Uconnect system or? I would appreciate your advice

Hi sparky01,

I certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you have not done so already, I recommend checking in at https://www.driveuconnect.com/support/software-update.html to ensure your vehicle has the most up-to-date software. If you do and you are still experiencing this concern, I recommend following up with your servicing Ram dealer as they are in the best position to address this further with you. Our team is just a PM away if you do end up working with your dealer and you are in need of any extra support for that process.

Maybe I will replace a new camera then lol. These trucks are so big now it's almost essential to have a rear camera working.

We just took delivery of a 2021 1500 Night addition. Back up camera just stopped working with less than 100 miles. Black screen. Not happy.
