Are you happy with your Ram??

No kidding..... they just have many other failures without correction ever. Manifolds, Etorque, camshaft/lifters, and so on. Stellantis hasn't every made improvements, they let them fail over and over

True but not in same scale as tundras.

My wife has a 2024 Lincoln Navigator L with all the bells and whistles.

The seats have 32 different ways to adjust them.

Me, I schlep around in my 2022 RAM 1500 Limited.

About eight times per year we do a seven hour road trip (one way) and given the choice I would take my RAM any day of the week over the Navigator.

My truck with air ride is far superior in ride quality, the center console has a better layout for mugs & cups, the seats are a 1000 times more comfortable.

We bought the Navigator specifically for these long haul road trips and I’m extremely disappointed in the car.

After the holidays I’m going to look at the GMC Denali and the Jeep Grand Wagoner.

Sure I’ll take a huge hit on deprecation if I trade in the new car but the seats are just that bad.

I would much rather have a big comfortable seat with memory foam and a mere six ways to adjust the seats.

I’m extremely happy with it.
2019 Bighorn, 5.7 non etorque. Bought brand new. Only issues besides recalls were:
Power mirror gears went bad. They told me the old design were plastic.
Clock spring was making a weird noise. They replaced it.
Radio screen got weird. I thougut it was because I cleaned it with some “electronic la screen cleaner” but they said its common.

Any other issues werent directly related to the build of the truck but rather my customizations. Even still, nothing expensive or life threatening.

Broken manifolds happen on the other engines as well, including tundra and titan.

Keep in mind that FCA has sold like 10+ million hemis over the decades. Even a 1 to 2 percent flaw means 100,000 to 200,000 affected engines. The shear scale is in a completely different world than the peasly numbers the tundra 5.7 sells at.

As far as "not ever making improvements", that's BS as well. Back in 2016 or so they switched manufacturers of the lifters and failures do appear to have gone down since then. But lifters affect other engines as well, because it's not a design flaw, it's a manufacturing flaw.

I purchased my Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi with e-torque, Lone Star edition, 4X4, brand new back in July 2023. It has been a fantastic truck, the fourth half-ton I've owned, the others were all F-150's, one with the 5.0 and the other two with the 2.7 ecoboost. Granted, being retired at the young age of 55, I don't really go anywhere and after almost 2.5 years of ownership, I only have 22,600 miles as of today, so not many miles. But it has been flawless in terms of reliability. This Ram is better than my F-150's in terms of quality, driveability, etc. Granted, this one was more expensive, maybe you get what you pay for, but my F-150's were not that far off. It is not the fastest, as my 2.7's both had custom tunes and even if I tuned my 5.7, the 2.7's would walk it. But I didn't buy my Ram for the 1/4 mile. I bought it to haul my service dog around, tow things here and there, carry stuff when needed, etc.

I don't know if this will be my forever truck, or a short term truck (to me, short term is 4-5 years of ownership). I did drive a 2026 Ram Warlock with the Hurricane and boy, I liked that motor!!! The low and mid range torque was just as good as my tuned 2.7's. But I also really like naturally aspirated V8's, so I'm keeping my 5.7 for now. Of course, if Ram puts the 6.4 into the 1500, I'm buying that. If not that, maybe the Ram HD Power Wagon, big fan of that truck. But this Ram truck has made me a fan and for now, brand loyal.

2026 Ram updates with Mark Dodge team is the Hurricane engine failing and market crashing?

Hurricane truck demand has increased since the HEMI return

This is actually a great share. I really appreciate it! It led me down a few rabbit holes on YouTube that I found pretty enlightening.

For example, I didn’t know stellantis was building a massive facility in Detroit exclusively to stockpile mopar parts. Hopefully that bodes well for people waiting on back ordered stuff since I’d assume a new facility means increased/improved supplier parts (like etorque??).

55K on my Ram up zero problems. Now I heard a whine in the rear end and need a new rear axel. 11 days our b4 they can get a new part. Good thing that I took the extended 10 yr. 100k warranty. FYI 36k of the miles was towing a 4,000 # Airstream.

2023 Lonestar with Hemi etorque. Only 22K, but zero issues. It's an absolute love affair. My wife is jealous.

Great looking truck!

One thing I didn't add was the E-Torque. I've had no issues with it but, over the 23,600 miles that I've had it, it has become a bit more rough. Meaning, it used to be very smooth when it would start the motor, dare I say, I didn't even know it had shut down and came back on. But now, I can hear and feel it start. I don't know, maybe now I'm just more sensitive to the motions the e-torque. My fear of course, are issues down the road. I didn't research initially, but if I had, I would have opted out of the e-torque.

5th gen ram's are trash lol. ram got 19,20,21 and 25 truck of the year not that that means anything.
i had a bighorn without the console and i stepped up to a Laramie/console a year ago 12in , pano roof......... i have owned quite a few vehicles. literally more than i can remember, well over 30 since i started driving 40 years ago. 3 stick out as favorite's, CRX, 85 MONTIE CARLO SS but the Laramie is my all time favorite i freaking love the thing.

Loving my 2026 Bighorn SO Hurricane so far. Just under 1500 miles and first family road trip this weekend. Drove through torrential rain on way home this evening and factory tri-fold tonneau cover didn't leak (made possible by the C-clamps I added at front corners to close the gap). Only issue observed so far is Android Auto and Carplay occasionally cutting out for a moment. Fuel economy is worse than I expected at 80mph. Hoped it would be better than the 5.7 Durango I traded in. Still a happy camper though!

If those numbers are accurate, that’s a terrible failure rate.

We don't have official numbers. The hemi doesn't seem to fail more than other v8's if you account for the sheer number of these engines sold since 2005/2009.

You’re looking at it as just numbers. I’m looking at it from a sigma level. I’d expect all engine manufacturers to have a failure rate much closer to six sigma vs. the numbers you posted. I now understand those numbers weren’t official.

I'm looking at it from a percentage and probability of failure; they've sold millions of these things, even a small flaw will show up as 100,000+ problems. But a 1 or 2 percent failure rate (even 5 to 10) is probably not going to affect me personally.

There is no manufacturer that is doing any better, definitely not in the half ton space. Tundra is getting brand new engines for everybody, ecoboost has had issues, coyote has better years and worse years, GM v8s have lifter issues, 6.2's are dying like the plague. Then you need to get into transmission flaws as well; the 10 speeds have had a very bumpy ride, GM 8 speed has had serious issues, the ZF 8 speed is pretty much flawless.

So I'll take my chances with the hemi and 8 speed. It's been out for about 13 years now and is very solid. 2026 is like the 17th year its been in production in its current form, and before that last update it was running for another 4 to 5 years before that.

the ZF 8 speed is pretty much flawless.
Until Stellantis started to build them, the 850RE has issues, IIRC its the Stellantis version is the only one they allow internals to be repaired under warranty. I think ZF wont be building the trans soon for them, will be the Stellntis version only.

I would take it to your dealer now. Chances are the eTorque is going bad, specifically the bearings. Maybe they will order you a new unit. Best do it soon as they are back ordered over 5000 waiting, for months.
There is a guy in NY state that puts in new bearings for 350. He told me if you hear noises, take the unit off and send it to him before it gets too bad to fix. The company is Rons Auto Electric , 845-361-4227.
The eTorque is the reason I will go Hurricane if I order a new truck.

4ys, 58k miles, over half towing 7K# enclosed car hauler and the only problem has been the leaking rear window. Filled up the rear window gap with flowable silicon… Fixed! Haven’t taken it back for the two recalls and don’t plan to.
