Are you happy with your Ram??

The question really should be if the issues you experience taint your view of the truck. I do research on vehicles before I buy, so I'm aware of potential problems before they pop up. My truck had the leaky rear window, but it wasn't an issue because I knew how to fix it. I also had the cracked manifold issue, but it was replaced under warranty and is a known issue.

The only problem I had that took years to resolve was the clunk over rough terrain. I solved it with the body mount replacements. I love my truck and the issues that are known how to fix make them non-issues to me.

Now, the electronics in EVERY vehicle today are what concerns me. My FCW light is on and it irritates me, but functionally, I don't care as I don't need, or want, that feature, so I live with it.

45k miles on y '21 and I love my truck!

On my 7th year of ownership and 0 regrets. Everytime it starts, everytime I get on it and it winds up, while I'm towing for hours straight.... usually nothing but smiles.

I had the window leak and exhaust manifolds, but taken care of. I have no doubt this truck will take me to 15+ years of ownership as long as my needs don't change.

I'm at about 130k KM's at this point. My other rides I never kept beyond 200k but there is something about a simple, solid v8 drivetrain that makes me comfortable keeping it as long as I can.

That, and the fact that it was a custom order so I got everything exactly as I wanted it.

A good truck is like a good pair of shoes, (or a good horse!). Why throw it out when it's paid for, not costing you money, does everything you want and then some.

Almost 30,000 (s)miles on my 25 Longhorn with the SST HO. Love every mile. Been driving Dodge's/RAM's for almost 30 years, from HEMI's to the Cummins and now the SST HO. Best engine and drivetrain in my opinion. All truck makes and models (foreign and domestic) have their quirks, go with what stirs your soul and find and take care of your local reliable dealer....for those just in case moments. My 25 is the smoothest, quietest, fastest and most refined truck I have ever owned. Take care of the small stuff and the truck will take care of you!!!

Brand new 25 Laramie… 4k miles…. 9 trips to dealer to attempt to fix multiple issues… so happy and pleased that I contacted an attorney to help me share my enthusiasm with FCA….

What are the issues?

Dead battery is the main problem. Tranny is another issue. When I drove it regularly, I had to bring a jump box everywhere lol. Took it in multiple times and every time the batteries would pass their test lol. They finally replaced the aux battery and it still dies lol. JUNK !!!!!

Actually just got the truck back today from the IPC recall (B4C)… after being told by a dealership that the code they pulled… for a faulty IPC.. had no fix lol.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully your lawyers will fight Stellantis

I have a Nused (new to me - previously owned) 2020 Laraime - I have had some minor problems when compared to others on here. I had to replace my front shocks at 50k miles. The passenger side failed and was leaking oil; the exhaust leak main manifold was replaced on the passenger side. My radio was really buggy when I first got it. Through my research on various forums, I found the solution to upgrading the radio software. Since that upgrade, the radio works every time, all the time.
I now have about 71K, time for the fluid changes in the drive line, the radiator, and the brakes. I will do those as the wallet allows. I keep a regular oil change schedule about every 6k with full synthetic fluid.

So, based on my limited experience of about 3 years. I would buy my truck again as an exact clone if possible; it's a sports car with a truck body. But I do not push hard on the go pedal, and my truck is not a driveway queen either.

am i happy with my truck? most of the time yes. here's a full list:
  • Truck: 2022 1500 Rebel V8 ordered through Mark Dodge
    • Currently at 50k miles
  • Reliability
    • Never had issue with the truck. Truck never saw dealership service department since delivery. I do my own service at 5k mark and driveline & transmission at 50k mark (early)
    • No drivetrain issue, no driveline issue, no transmission issue, no electrical issue aside from the 12V starter battery that went recently due to age.
    • With TWO additional power systems (1 Victron DC-DC charger in the cab charging my Ecoflow Delta 2 + add-on battery for fridge and USB charging, and 1 Renogy 50A DC-DC w/ MPPT in the camper for a 100AH LiFEPO4 for camper lights, diesel heater, laptop, and always on Starlink Mini) plus the LP9s, XL Racers, 4 S2s, never ran into issue where I drew more voltage than the truck can handle.
    • No ball joint popping out, no axle issue - this is probably because I did everything correctly and not exceed suspension geometry.
  • Performance
    • 5.7L V8 with ZF 8spd is a good combo, delivering plenty of power when needed while returning steller fuel economy, even with over 800lb of constant weight.
    • 4WD works great. Never ran into an obstacle on the trail where I couldn't make it. But again, I know my limits and the truck's limit, so I don't go do things that the truck is not capable of. And yet, the truck still surprises me with its offroading capabilities every now and then when crawling.
    • Honestly, I never understand why people are chasing "speed" with this truck. Buy a sports car if going fast on pavement is a priority.
  • Drivability
    • Drivers perfectly for a daily with stock suspension. Can't comment on offroad driving because I never took stock suspension off pavement before upgrading. Yes, I swapped suspension at 400 miles because I knew what I wanted and ordered the suspension package right after ordering the truck.
    • IFS system is pretty good for on pavement and long distance driving as is. Nothing to complain about.
  • Comfort
    • Seats are comfortable as is, though I added some seat risers just because I was bored and got money to spend. But still, with stock seat I could drive for 6+ hours non-stop.
Now the part where I am not 100% happy with the truck:
  • IFS
    • Yes, IFS is a double edged sword. It's great for long drives, but does not have an edge of solid front axle when off pavement.
    • To step up the suspension even more, the only option I have is long travel. However, with solid front axle, I can just throw in some 3.0" shocks and springs, truss the axle, add some brackets for long arms, and call it a day. Much less work involved.
    • Crawling capability and ground clearance is not as great with IFS.
  • Ground clearance
    • Truck is long but ground clearance is not as high. The approach, breakover, and departure angles are all less than the 4Runner I built before this due to... length.
  • Aftermarket support
    • This one is gonna touch a lot of nerve. Unlike Toyotas or HD (2500/ 3500) the Ram 1500 DT platform is absolute terrible when it comes to aftermarket support for legit things. This is because there's simply not enough demand for these high end legit items because the community is all about doing things as cheap as possible. On other platforms where communities are very supportive and drive demand for LT kits, portal axles, bumpers, lighting packages, interior organization and mounts, etc, legit aftermarket support usually come up with things shortly (within 6 months) of vehicle being released. Not the DT. Even when asked, the response is always "it's in the development" or "truth is, there's not enough demand for us to make it to turn profit." Well, they aren't wrong about it.
Bottom line:
  • If you take care of your truck, your truck will take care of you if you choose the established powerplant. If you choose the new powerplant, well good luck.
  • Do your services regularly and early.
  • Don't do mickey mouse things.

You probably need a recall or two. There is an ABS software update needed on my '22. So far we both seem to have dodged the rear window leak and cracked exhaust manifold. Do not know if you have eTorque, I do. So far, so good. Really is a nice truck at a good price.

I bought my 2022 Limited new and now, 3.5 years in, have about 40k miles on it. No real complaints so far. I've had it in for some niggly things but haven't had any big issues. My largest complaint is that my dealership is slow as molasses. When I would take it in during the warranty period, if I wanted them to check something it would always be there overnight. If they had to fix something, like when I needed a new 12" radio, it sat for days as they waited for a part. Other than that, the truck has been reliable and does everything I want it to. To top it off, my wife thinks it's the best riding truck she's been in. So, the WAF is two thumbs up. Although I did tell her that if Stellantis finds it in their budget to put the 6.4 in the 1500, I'm trading immediately.
