Any Drawbacks to 33 Gallon Tank?

Not picking sides in the discussion, but I remember the discussion of the tank weight back when I was researching options. The 70# is the filled additional weight over the standard tank, correct? So the actual additional tank weight is probably 10ish pounds? I mean, how can a 7 gallon tank (the increase from 26 to 33) weigh 70#? It's not a more of plastic or metal.

Yes , payload is calculated with a full tank.

Tank weight (plus supports and hardware) from 23 gallon to 33 gallon is 8 lbs

Yes, gas included. The 70 lbs discussed is for 23g to 33g (not 26g to 33g)

It’s about 49 lbs for 26g to 33g

When the 33 tank became an option, I wanted it. Aside from all the childish responses in this thread, I have discovered some useful information to apply to my decision about the tank size and other options.
I did see a sample of a chart with the weight of options, wish there was a list of all options and their weight. This would save me from trying to find a truck with options I'd want and then plug the vin into the towing and payload thing to see what the results are.
Back to the tank, it was a must have, but not so much anymore. I never really take trips in the truck and it won't be my daily driver. If I fill the 33, the gas could get bad before I use it. If I only fill it part way, why have it. I guess my decision will be made when I am ready to order.

I recently had some experiences with my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 which has been resolved (so far anyhow) by using up the gas from June and refilling with fresh gas. The 2001 is kept primarily for winter driving (aka salted roads), 4 wheel drive and doing the dirty jobs and can sit for months. Both my parents and in laws have minimal miles on their vehicles (2011 Honda with 8,000 miles, 2003 Mercury with 75,000 miles) and see that as my future. I don't tow right now and the times I did previously I had the wife and 3 sons and "pit" stops were part of the journey.
Less fill ups is an added benefit with the 33 especially if you are able to run it down and fill up but I do enough "top offs" when the price is right or Costco shopping reducing that benefit.

And than there is: "Why does Ram charge $445 for the 33 gallon tank?"
Because they can.
I don't know Ram's cost but it does seem excessive.

If I towed, drove higher mileage (currently 28K with 38 months of ownership) requiring more frequent fill ups, limited fuel access or time was a factor with fill ups I would probably go for it.

I'd buy the truck with or without the big tank. Makes no difference to me. I buy whatever I can get a good deal on that's sitting on the lot ready to go. Just like the Ram boxes would've been cool to try out, but not too many BH with them on the lot. I'm not that picky. My biggest concern is getting the best price possible. I still can't believe how much these trucks are selling for now & people are still buying them ! I can't imagine paying MSRP for anything!!

I put a build order in and got 13% under MSRP, before tax, title registration, etc. Deals can still be had. No trade in.
