Air Ride with DAYSTAR and REVEL Links!

Thanks for the info on the lift, way above my level of mechanics, I’m going to a shop to do mine! I just like to have all the info to relay to them as they don’t do many air suspension, every tip I can get them makes it easier for them!
Is your truck a Rebel or a truck with the ORP? I can’t seem to find a definite answer on if the UCA’s on a ORP truck are the same as the Mopar lift ones you installed?
Mine is a Limited with the OR1 and OR2 option which, to my knowledge, means it has the ORP. If that's the case, then I'd recommend the Mopar UCAs as you can see from the picture above that the angle on them ball joint is more acute than the factory ball joint. They were fairly cheap... $48 a piece, I believe.
 
Got my links adjusted at lunch time today. I may be doing something way bad wrong but my links are shorter than anyone I've heard of on the forums. Mine are in the 53mm range... see pictures. With that length, I can still get the truck into OR2 mode after the air system cools. I don't plan on putting it into OR2 mode ever, though. I also snapped some pictures of my ball joint angles and it doesn't look that bad to me but I'm far from an expert. The attached pictures are of the new OR2 and Normal heights. There's also a picture of the UCA angle and link measurements. Thoughts? Am I messing up? I'm going to try to get 35x12.5s installed on my stock 20s tomorrow, though a much more knowledgeable member here said I'll have problems rubbing the UCA.

I feel like my links are that short too. I haven’t measured them though.

60mm is common because it's just above the error threshold. Most leave there after installing the spacers to retain the factory ride.

I never got an "error" really. The system would just pause and cool down before going into OR2. I'm not sure if that's the same thing or not... :unsure:

Yes, but you've the spacers so I'm assuming that's the difference, & you won't be retaining the factory ride. Before I added the spacers 59mm was the sweet spot w/o any of the warnings. 58mm I couldn't get it into OR2 w/o the the system needing to cool & 57 wouldn't allow it into OR1 before cooling.

Is your front end the same height on both sides? I've noticed mine no longer is.

I drove it for a while tonight. It still feels like the factory ride. I left the links in that 53mm range so OR2 is a stretch but I don't plan on having it in OR2 ever really. What are you running the links at now that you have the spacers?

My front is the same height on both sides currently. Maybe that will change over time. Seems like it'd be hard to get out of whack if the sensors are the same length.

Still at 59mm. 1/4" difference L:R which I thought was very odd considering I'm measuring my links w/ a caliper. Obviously not noticable at least. Ha

When I did my 2016 links I chased a 1/4 difference side to side for hours and never got it perfect, actually made it worse, then went back to the 1/4 difference and left it! Like you said you can’t notice it with your eye. I researched and found that most trucks are off like that from the factory!
I never measured mine before I installed the links so I never had a base line!

I have a rebel and want to put links and spacers but i dont know if i need to put the UCA's. Ive seen some talk on here about people who have the off road package wondering if they have the upgraded UCA's already, however didnt see a solid answer. Anyway, would my rebel have upgraded UCA's or do i need to get aftermarket ones? Please let me know. Thanks
 
When I did my 2016 links I chased a 1/4 difference side to side for hours and never got it perfect, actually made it worse, then went back to the 1/4 difference and left it! Like you said you can’t notice it with your eye. I researched and found that most trucks are off like that from the factory!
I never measured mine before I installed the links so I never had a base line!

They were the same stock and immediately after install. I drove it for a week before I decided to tweak the rear a bit more & that's when I noticed it. Shouldn't have checked again! lol
 
Got tires put on today. Still need to get an alignment done but the off-road shops around town are apparently killing it in the midst of corona and booked up for a few weeks out. I put a set of recapped BFG KOs on the truck... I've never dealt with a set of retread/recapped tires but some people swear by them so, for about half price of a new set of KO2s, I'll give them a whirl.

With the 35x12.5x20s, I have a VERY slight rubbing while locked out in reverse in Normal mode and no rubbing in OR1 or OR2 mode. There's also no contact with the UCAs or the height sensors. Once I trim some of the inner fender liner, rubbing should be gone.

I didn’t even know they sold recapped passenger car tires

I’m in the same boat, no one seems to know? I have the part number for the Mopar lift upper control arms, I think I’ll just have to call the dealership and get a part number for my upper control arms with off-road package and see if they’re the same!

Bumping this thread with an update:

4500 miles of driving since installing. Besides having to retorque the sway bar links, no issues. No clunks, no shimmy’s (as a result of the level) and no issues. I’ve taken it off-roading twice. Never gotten an air ride error, nothing. It’s been rock solid for me. I installed myself as you can see above from my photos.

I have stock control arms and frankly, I’m not entirely sure where in the range of motion of the strut and arm would impact. From what I can see in all my suspension settings, there’s about 1/4-1/2in of clearance at all of them. Is the idea that they’d impact the air strut fully extended? I’m not entirely convinced.

If the airbags are fully extended, they’re going to be skinnier as the air is not being compressed in the bag so to speak so I don’t know that it would impact at any point. Maybe my understanding of the suspension is limited, but I haven’t had any issues. And I almost caught air off some rail road tracks in downtown Columbia SC without seeing them and nothing crazy or out of the ordinary happened.

Hopefully this will speak to the longevity of the modification a little more than has been so far. We often only see posts with problems, not how well a mod has served. This one has served me well.

l have a Limited and have done the spacers with DIY links as well and have not had any issues with error codes or getting the vehicle in either of OR1 or OR2 ... and my links are at 60mm ... only have just over 1,000 miles so far and completely happy ...
 
Just started a new thread on this question, but anyone do rear lift links on a ORP truck along with the Daystar Revel front link kit?
 
Hey thanks for the info here. I just got my daystar spacer and links installed. I confirmed with the mechanic that installed mine that he did need to trim the strut studs as stated here.

Also confirming for those wondering that the kit does work on 2WD. I’ll send the info to revel and hopefully they can adjust their instructions.

Mine is sitting about 41 fender to ground in the rear and 40.25 in the front. So I’ve got just the smallest bit of rake still. I might adjust it some more, but I figure I’ll let everything settle and see how it is in 1000 miles.

Nice setup, got a similar 1500 ordered. What is your wheel offset?
