If you're able to, get the garden house out and have someone spray the back of the cab with a misting spray while you're in the cab. Look for water intrusion around the window frame. Make sure the headliner is dry. Like I mentioned in my reply to you a few posts back, my dealer diagnosed it as the window and replaced it but that was not the problem. The problem was a cab vent. From what my dealer said is that the dealer does not replace the window themselves. They have a glass company come in to replace it. The dealer mechanics only strip the interior for the glass company. The dealer tech may assist the glass company but they dont actually do the window replacement.
Yeah, they already had their glass contractor replace the back window. That was their last ‘shot in the dark’ repair… I’m not comfortable taking anything apart to get to the cab vents, but I’ll tell the service guy to check those. You’d think they would know everything to check on these trucks. Surely this isn’t an isolated incident…

This is getting ridiculous… Got quite a bit of rain the last couple of days and sure enough, the pad under the carpet is soaked again… Ram Cares closed my case after the last non-diagnosis because the problem didn’t occur again after 2 days of the truck being released from the dealership. Where is the common sense? I contacted Ram USA and explained the problem. They won’t do anything until I have a service appointment date. Well now they have one. Let’s see if anyone there has any common sense or actual power to do anything about this problem. So frustrated…
Diagnosis it yourself. Then take it in. Sometimes you have to do that. I had removed my rear seats and back wall and leak tested it and mine is leaking from the right rear corner of the glass. I still have yet to take it in, but that way I won't be fed any BS by the dealer.

The tech probably never leak tested it after the glass was installed. Some techs are flat out lazy, others just suck.

Supposedly the tech, his supervisor, the service write up guy and the service dept manager were all personally involved in the 3 hour leak test this last time after they replaced the glass… 🤷🏻‍♂️
The truck is still under warranty, so I really don’t want to start taking things apart for them to tell me I ‘voided’ the warranty by doing that…

They fed you some BS when they told you that. Service writers are way too busy dealing with customers, calling ext warranty companies, calling customers to spend 3 hrs with the tech leak testing a car. Same with service manager, they have too much BS on their plate to spend that amount of time in the shop.

So if anyone cares anymore, this may be my last post on this forum.

After visiting with the service tech and ONLY the service tech on Wednesday (advisor and manager were “busy”) and after insisting multiple times that they figure out some way to test water coming up from the road and getting in the cab despite the fact that all of them emphatically and repeatedly told me they’ve never seen that and that it never happens… it rained hard yesterday morning and the tech ran the truck through some puddles. Much to his surprise, not mine, he found water seeping in through a seam in the floorboard that was not properly sealed FROM THE FACTORY… hopefully I’ll be picking my truck up today after the epoxy hardens so I can trade it in tomorrow on something that is not a Ram or is made by Ram, Fiat, Chrysler or whatever their company is now.

I would also like to mention that Fiat/Chrysler’s customer service is GARBAGE. Ram Cares is useless, nothing but empty platitudes followed by closing my case. The corporate customer service stopped replying to my numerous emails and my supposed ‘case manager’ never answers the phone and doesn’t have voicemail so I always get hung up on.

I’m done with Ram, Fiat, Chrysler, whatever. Nor will I ever recommend anyone purchase one of their vehicles.

Good luck to all of you who are loyal to the brand. I no longer am. Good day!

It's an unfortunate situation you've had to deal with and yes the factory screwed up but the dealer you are/were working with sounds like a bunch of a$$holes. As far as I'm concerned, it's the dealers responsibility to make your experience pleasant or at least less painful when dealing with any issues. Unfortunately your situation isnt the first I've heard of seams leaking so for everyone to say "we never heard of this" is just plain BS. Good luck with your future purchase

I have been having issues with water getting into the cab of my 2019 Ram Rebel. Bought it used in July 2021. Shortly after I got it, I noticed the carpets were wet in the front and back. The truck is normally stored indoors but sometimes it is parked outside and it rains a lot where I live. It went to the dealership for a pressure test. They found 3 leaks (panorama sunroof, crack in the rear window frame, and one in the brake light above the rear window). Warranty covered the everything including replacing the rear glass. A few weeks afterwards I noticed the carpets were wet again so it went back to the dealership. They kept it for two days and did another pressure test and they couldn’t find any leaks. They advised the sponge/insulation near the gas pedal was so saturated with water from the previous leak, the water just ran down to the underlay and carpet got wet again. They dried it out for two days and problem solved supposedly. Like I said, most times it stored indoor, but I have been working in the garage the last couple of weeks so it has been parked outside. It has rained lots and the truck is still leaking. I have contacted the dealership again and am waiting for a response as what they can do to finally fix the issue. I pulled up the carpet in the front. Crazy amount of water absorbed in the underlay/insulation. Very frustrating, smells moldy.

Are you able to provide the STAR report number?

Hello Mark,
I took it in this morning (made appointment last week) for their "leak specialist" to look at it. They called and confirmed it was leaking.. (No kidding). They said the body shop would need to remove the fender per the STAR report I gave them and that I would have to leave it until next Tuesday (when the leak specialist returns) or bring it back this Friday to leave. So yes it still leaks and hopefully they can fix it next Tuesday. **** Poor service from the dealer...I told them what the problem was last week and showed them the STAR report when I made the appointment, they should have been ready to remove the fender today.

For them to give you that response goes to show that the tech sucks at his job, if that was the case. How are you NOT going to dry out the full carpet once you fixed the leak? Find another dealer if you can or try and diagnosis the issue yourself.

I can relate, this is getting ridiculous.
HI, Did you ever find a resolution to this?

It sounds very familiar. After some funky smells, I found mold under the passenger rear seat. In a fit of frustration, I yanked out the whole lower interior. (Seats, carpet, center console) The carpets were soaked....so much so, when I pulled the subwoofer, I could literally squeeze water out of the carpet.

Having driven around w/ a bare cab for almost 3 weeks, the leak is still there, somewhere....I've traced water to the lower tray where the window slides. I think it then travels in the door sill to fill up the front passenger foot well I don't have any staining on the headliner, so I haven't pulled it down yet. Every time it rains, the smell comes back.

My previous 2 trucks both had a bad vertical seal on the rear sliding window where there was a bow in the glass and the slider never sealed up proper. I found it after I washed my truck and had water all over the inside of the passenger window.....and subsequently a murdered rear camera. They replaced the rear window/slide assembly. That was a 2016 1500. Also, had a warped center brake light that needed replacing which very well may have been contributing to water but this was all discovered and fixed shortly after getting the truck.

Fast forward to my 2019 3500...had the same thing with the rear window but I was already looking for it. Will be one of the first things I look at when taking delivery (was told this week....thank God!)

3rd Brake Like seal (for the rear leak)

If you have the panoroof, the front tube drain. There are these plastic 'drains' that have "X"s cut into them to allow water to drain (seep) out but actually back up the water.

but -- a lot are leaking without the pano roof, so they had to dig deeper :
There is also a portion of the seal on the windshield that leaks more than the pano drain tube. The windshield has to be removed and the seal requires to be redone. (This was found by another user on here as well.)

I've only had mine 3 weeks and I can already start to smell the mildew smell after only 3 rains. :(
Are there any threads that show where the leak is at on the windshield seal?

OP here. I am glad to report that our dealer got us out the door before our trip. I checked after a car wash to clean the Colorado dust off and it seems my leak is fixed. I will update if the floor gets wet again. Love this forum! Got some pics of the Colorado trip in the Off road part of the forum.

Gerry
What did they do, seal the seam under the weather stripping at the door, or at the windshield? Did they remove the front fender?
Thanks

I'm not familiar w/ the Panoramic Sunroof leak. I have a fully loaded Rebel without one option, the sunroof, and this is by design, I purposely did not want one due to water leaks, RAM has enought of 'em. I looked forever for my 2020 Rebel, and finally found one; the only thing it did not have was the e-tourque. I'm a HUGE RAM fan, but I'm done with water issues. I had a 2019 Laramie that I sold back to the manufacturer via a Lemon Law attorney due to massive water leak at front drivers floor board, in addition to rear window leak. They finally found the front floor board leak, it was a faulty weld. (There was a TSB on this as well). My son has a 2014 Big Horn, he just noticed water under his back seats; I bet it's coming from the two rear vents behind the back seat. ($8 each to replace), but you need to pull out the rear seat or remove the bed of the truck. My 2020 Rebel just got out of the shop yesterday; they replaced the third brake light and gasket to fix a leak there; I might still have one more leak at the corner of the rear window. They won't replace the window until the leak comes back. FCA/Stellantis did a 8 and 10 yr/150,000 mile extended warranty on the third brake light and rear backlite (rear window); for this very reason. But on top of all this, I need to now play close attention to the rear two vents behind the back seat. I freaking love my Rebel, but didn't pay $60K to have WATER issues. I bet if I dug deep in to GM, Ford and Tundra's, they have water leaks as well. Not a FORD person, but not bad mouthing the F-150's either; theres a reason why they're the best selling vehicle on the road (not sure why though).

Insist on them checking the cab vents. I brought mine in for a water leak and the dealer diagnosed it as the rear window. They ordered it and I brought the truck back so they can replace the window. I couldn't pick it up that night so it sat their overnight. Well it rained that night and when I went to pick it up water had leaked in again. They told me to leave it (no duh!) because I still had their loaner. They called me about 5 hours later and said they had to replace a cab vent. I'm a mechanic and didnt tell them I already diagnosed it prior to me bringing it to them originally because that's what I do always. Long story short, they replaced the rear window for no reason. The cab vent was the culprit. It's been about 4 months and it's still good. I still check everytime it rains
What do the cab vent look like/are located?

Attached is a picture of the rear cab vents; there are two of them. There's an old style, and a newer, improved style that i'm being told has a much tighter fit. My other leak is in the upper corner of the rear window. I see exactly where it's coming in. If it continues to leak, I might choose to place some easy flow sealant on the outside of the window inside of the groove where the roof molding meets the glass. That just seems like a more permanent fix than trying another window. The window is not the issue, it's the seal around the window. Who knows what else they'll mess up when replacing the rear glass. I really think one or two drops of sealant will do it. It'll be in a spot that's not noticeable by anyone.
