So the first week or so after I bought the truck I notice water on the inside of the rear window (weekend & no cracked frame).. next night it rained and no water and no water for the rest of the month.. Fast fwd to this week and I see drops of water on my back seat, seat backs, but not my back window this time.

Called the dealer and their 'water doctor' only comes in on Wednesday's.. so I have to wait till next week. Ok, no huge deal.. but what is a 'water doctor'? Then they tell me I can't get a loaner until the problem is officially diagnosed and they do not have after hour drop offs! Their hours are like 7:30am - 6:30pm (-.-) So I'm basically going to be without a vehicle for atleast two days (Tuesday drop off and Wednesday diagnose) before they can even think of giving me something to drive. I've owned a dozen Fords (different dealerships too) and they literally had a loaner waiting for you when you dropped it off, no questions asked.

Am I expecting too much to have a vehicle to drive while they fix my brand new damn truck I paid alot of money for? ...or for that matter, for it not to leak water before it leaves the factory?

You should be able to get a rental (from their partner) and once it is diagnosed as a warranty issue, they should pick up the whole tab. If it is not a warranted problem, you will be stuck with the bill.

My dealer partners with an Enterprise next door, that they use when they run out of loaners.

Call Ram, get a case opened, and insist on loaner with case manager, either dealer loaner or rental.

I don't believe there's anything in the manufacturers/dealers level or service (LOS) contracts that require dealers to provide free loaners. Nowadays many do as an enticement to either buy or have your vehicle serviced at that dealership. Mine does and always have, although they occasionally run out of loaner vehicles.

The one thing that seemed strange to me is that by your description the dealer's offer for a loaner is contingent on already knowing what the problem is. I've never heard of that before.

..so far my first RAM is not really impressing me..

I’m also in South Jersey, can you say which dealer you dealt with ? If you don’t want to post you can always Pm me with that. Hopefully I may have ones that will work with you.

So after making me wait for a week, I drove over there with a ride home following, they saw the crack, took pics, said to take the truck home, and they would call me with ETA when FCA approves the repair...

Asked why they couldn't have just taken pics last week.. they said the receptionist didn't know what she was talking about..

Asked why the initial leak was above the window and they said it was the window.. they saw it before no need to test it further.. so I have a feeling I'm going back once they replace ththe window..

Thank you. Got a call that the repair has been approve for the replacement rear window assembly.. though I doubt that'll totally fix the issue, so we'll see. They ordered the part, but have no ETA for me yet.

Thank you for the follow up on this, JF19Longhorn. If it would be of interest, we would be more than happy to connect you with a specialist who can work alongside your dealer to try and get the part in as soon as possible. We are just a private message away to get the process started.

So pick it up tonight.. nice new window.. betting it still leaks.

So I check the backseats for cuts etc and find extra pieces under the damn seat.. service was closed so now I have to go back in tomorrow..

After I got home I looked closer and two out of three seatbelts aren't hooked up and there are three or four nuts / bolts on the seat track either missing or finger tight!!!

...my 6m old rides on that damn seat

I'm usually not a knee-jerky guy, but man somebody ought to lose a couple paychecks for that. Completely no excuse for the seatbelts and missing/loose bolts, that's horrifying.

Yep...like you I try to go with the flow and be cordial when dealing with stuff like this but that would have sent me off the rails. I'd take photos/vids and then march down to the dealership and demand to see the GM and show him the evidence. Maybe even get media involved if necessary. I understand everyone makes mistakes but this is way beyond a simple error and could put lives at risk. The person(s) involved should be canned, no question. Idiots like that should have no place in servicing anything and that something this careless happened you can be sure they're screwing up on other vehicles.

nah, that's the kind of stuff that should get a vacation in club fed. that is criminal negligence.

So I went in this am and ofcourse the manager they told me to talk to wasn't in.. no mangers were in.. They pulled the truck right in and the guy had the seats out, seat belt fixed, seats back in, and bolts are all there / tight in like 15 minutes.

There were also 2 scratches by the rear window and backdoor. They took pics and said manager will call me Monday.. so we'll see..

Usually the send the truck out to a glass shop to do the replacements unless your dealer does thier own glass work. That said the dealer should inspect the work before giving it back.

I pulled my rear seats/belts and the back trim because I did not want them to mess up my stuff, I understand that not everyone has the tools or know-how to do this. I told the dealer what I was going to do and the actually preferred me doing it...:ROFLMAO:
