Greetings to the Ram forum and our fellow 5th-genners. This will be my introductory
posting; a bit long winded perhaps because there's Ram excitement
about. Across the years I've owned 2 Chevy trucks and 5 Ford trucks.
This is my first Ram truck.

We took possession of a 2019
Laramie 4x4 this past Saturday. As is the case with Kapnbill, we tow
a boat from time to time (with a gross trailer weight of 2200 Lbs).
We did find 2019 Laramies on dealer lots here in the NW with the 3.92
ratio and limited slip diffs. Upon thinking on it, my driving style
nowadays is 95% on improved roads. Think compromise; what sold us on
our truck was the nearly $9K discount off the sticker price. And that
was our dealer's advertised price ($48,999) so there was no need to
negotiate. Ours has the 3.21 ratio diffs. For our uses, traction
control should suffice in place of limited slip. We've got the Level
2 equipment group, Advanced Safety group, bucket seats + console,
Dual Pane sunroof, plus the 20" x 9" rims/tires (wide ones
these are!) One option I'm adding right away is the Ram
wheel-to-wheel sidesteps to make it easier on Grandma to get in and
out. I also opted for a 5'7" box to make it easier for to
maneuver when she's driving. We do a weekly hay run for our 4-legged
critters. While my own preference leans toward the 6'4" box, we
believe the shorter box will work out just fine for both of us
(thinking compromise).

For serious off roading I'll
borrow Grandma's '17 Jeep Cherokee TrailHawk. It's been rigged for
flat towing. The 2019 Laramie can also be rigged for flat towing.
It's an expensive undertaking, adding the towbar pieces and brake
actuator components.

Our new 2019 Laramie lacks tow hooks
and that's a good thing in our book. It does have the factory hitch,
rear trailer plug-ins, and anti-sway software, yet lacks a manual
brake controller. Last time I had use for one was back in '99 so it's
doubtful I'll miss it. I noticed Mopar sells these in their parts
store for the legacy Ram 1500 so it should be a relatively easy
upgrade item.
Nits on the electric parking brake. That seems to be the direction
we're headed but I learned to really dislike it on our TrailHawk. Perhaps the Ram version will serve us better.
