A/C wind noise

I think this is by system design as others have stated. I've already brought my truck in to the dealer service center regarding the subpar AC temps, even though I knew it would not be rectified other than the AC hack methods mentioned on this site.

I brought it in to simply have it documented with FCA with the hope if enough of us do it, there may be some FCA movement (even though I lost 3 hours doing so o_O).

I'm not going to bring it in for this issue because I know it would burn at least a half a gas tank or more and it will still go to the same AC issue I originally brought the truck in to document. I just wish RAM would have previously tested the trucks in the hot, humid climates so they can understand what a lot of us are now experiencing.
Totally agreed, 100% percent with you.

Same issue for me. In an hour drive I will hear it do that once or twice.
Me to, I have the same problem. I go to the dealer and the technician say don’t duplicate. Because this happens at different hours or minutes.

I believe that when that happens the evaporator is about to freeze up and the HVAC ECU kills the compressor and switches to outside air and a higher fan speed to defrost it.

It's such a common complaint, you'd think @RamCares would run it past some technical people and find out for sure.

If it is working exactly as designed, maybe issue a TSB so that the dealership mechanics can say "Working as Designed" and attach a printout rather than the hated "Unable to Duplicate."
I understand but the problem is when the noise start the temperature change and do not feel to cold, when finish the noise the temperature it’s set again.

FCA have to respond with a TBS not the technician because this is an internal problem.

I think others will say the same, but the issue may not start kicking in until 45 mins to an hour into a trip and most service centers can't afford to have a service member out on the road for that amount of round trip time just on the off chance the issue would trigger.

FCA have to responde.

I have the plain Tradesman model with the basic manual HVAC controls and I have the same issue.
One assumes that's just the way it works with these newer trucks??
Same problem with the new rams. Please share this situation and invite people to the forum to claim action by FCA to respond because it’s so difficult to the technician find because this occurs in different hours depending the temperature. Run the voice!

If I'm right, then you don;t really have a choice. It has to warm up to defrost.

I had a 1988 Ford Ranger and they added the AC at the dealer. It was the same kit they used on Aerostar vans. That thing was so oversized it got the cab cold enough to see your breath, no exaggeration. But if I ran the AC for long periods, like a road trip to the Grand Canyon, it froze up and no air flow got through at all and then it really got warm in the cab. Shutting off the AC for five minutes was enough to defrost it and it would work again for another half an hour or so.

I'd rather have it do it automatically,

I am pretty sure my old Ram did the same thing. It's not a big deal to me... especially if I know its keeping my AC working in the long run.

Ok no problem. Me and more person wait for FCA respond. This trucks are 2019 and sell for more than 50k. Other brands of expensive trucks don’t have this problem. Why ram ? Ram 2019 was the truck of the year. It’s very rare. Respect your opinion but FCA have to respond. If this is normal why FCA don’t say nothing.

Do you have evidence that no other vehicle does this? Are you expecting FCA to respond here? Only FCA reps on here are RamCares and all they do is schedule an appointment for you.

Hi Alex2014,
I have noted this additional concern in your case. I can see that your case manager has not reached out to you and I do apologize. I have made my lead aware of this to ensure someone reaches out to you.

Just got my Ram last weekend. I drove 7.5 hours one way to get it. On the ride home, I noticed this phenomenon as well. I couldn't figure out what was going on. Thought maybe a window was lowering itself sporadically, but the sound was not the same. Maybe the door seal was allowing air to blow in with the right cross winds, but the sound comes on and then off like a light switch, not random enough for a cross wind at highway speeds. I have not noticed it around town at all this week. Seems lame that the engineers could not design around it if it is indeed by design.

More noticeable at highway speeds.

Add one more truck to the ever growing list with this problem/phenomenon. It happens to me on longer road trips on hot summer days. I didn't notice it until late June or early July here in the south, but now it happens pretty much any time I drive 1 1/2+ hours on the interstate during the afternoons. I highly doubt our service techs would be able to replicate it on their test drive, unless they live 90 miles away and take it home one afternoon. I'll be watching this one.
