8.4" to 12" upgrade

I have been known to pay $2,500 for a Rolls Royce tonneau cover; however, I am not sure I could fork over $4k for that. It might be worth finding a new Ram with the 12" installed.

For me I’m feeling it would be better to grab a Ram with one already factory installed. At least I’ll have someone to “ glare “ at if anything goes wrong with it lol.
How exactly did you do yours? Did you just buy the screen and have the dealership install the software? Did you have to have any new wiring or modules?

Just throwing it out there. MVI sells the 12" full kit for a lot less. He's a great guy and provides very good support.
I just ordered mine, should have it in a few days. He only takes text until your ready to buy because he stays busy.

I have swapped my 8.4 no nav radio with a 12 inch screen and module and my hvac controls do not work i have a bighorn with manual temp controls what am I doing wrong

8.4" to 12.1" screen replacement
I am upgrading from 8.4 non nav to the 12. I got everything installed and the volume and tune knobs do not work as expected. The problem I have is once I shut off the truck and the screen goes off it will not turn on the next time I start the truck. The radio still plays and the SWC can adjust...

OK so what is the final say? I have the 8.4 and want to purchase the upgrade 12" Screen talked about here. Is there a software flash to change it from my 8" display to the 12" ? Do i need any updated cables to accomplish this? I would like to do this on my own without going through a dealer if possible.

You can't really have the dealer install and program the parts for you, they only go by the book and the book is blank when talking about adding features or upgrading radios... you want to upgrade your radio? Go to the sales department and trade your truck in for a new one with the features you want....
You can't (well technically you can but not really) upgrade your 8.4" nav radio to the 12" without replacing your module.
You will need to re-pin one of your connectors but that's it, no other wires needed.
You need:
Module
Screen
Bezel
A PC or an android phone, AlfaOBD software ($50) and an obd reader(get the BFX one for $20, it'll do the trick)

I am looking to go with the new 12inch with the Uconnect 5 software. My wife has the 10inch version in her Durango and the Uconnect 5 is so much better. Has anyone looked into going with that radio yet. I was thinking about talking to my dealer the next time I am around them.
