I have the 3.92 Laramie Sport Crew, 4x4, etorque. Mid, West, and Upper Peninsula of MI trips (good size rolling hills and some flat farmland, highway speeds around 65-75). Update-I run 87 octane, no brand specific. I had my first oil change done at dealer with Pennzoil Platinum synthetic 5w20 (68247836aa) at 6,200 and I initially calculated the first 5 fill ups with fuelly/gas buddy, which both jived with the computer.

First pic is trip pulling Honda Pioneer 1000-5 on 6x12 open aluminum trailer north from house into higher elevations.

Second pic is going North to Marquette, MI with 2 kayaks in back with tailgate up and Tonneau open. Heading into higher elevation and generally a 5-15 mph westerly (drivers side) headwinds.

3rd pic is heading south from Marquette back home with same kayaks, but tailgate down and Tonneau closed. Heading into lower elevations with mostly tailwinds generally 5-15mph, hitting passenger side.

All in all, not much difference from my 2014 Silverado Z71. Ram pulls better and rides smoother.

Here's where I'm at for total:

Got a big out West trip (MI to SD) coming up end of August-trailering Pioneer and two Harley cruises in my 25' enclosed. Will follow up with that trips as it unfolds.

I can get 19-20, sometime a little more, with my Laramie Sport with the 3.92's. I have to keep the cruise below 70 to do it though. Nice numbers!

I don’t know what to say about mine, with 3.92’s no etorque, I get about 16-17 no matter what I do with the cruise set at 60 all the way up to 73. Doesn’t seem to matter the speed, I just get 16-17.

In the last 9 years I’ve owned a 2011 F-150 3.5 eco, a 2014 Silverado LTZ 5.3, 2016 Ram Eco diesel, and a 2018 F-150 platinum 3.5 eco. I love my new limited, but it gets BY FAR the worst mileage of any of the above trucks with similar gears on the same roads.

On Hwy, I can get around 19.5 MPG if I keep it around 75 MHP. Would def be a bit higher @ 65-70 MPH. I would imagine 21 or perhaps 22 @ 65 MPH.
City is another matter, as I have a commute that‘s under a mile ea. way which kills my mileage. My avg there is bet 8.5 - 9.5-10 MPG. I currently have around 7300 miles on the odo.

That’s my issue that drives me nuts. I can go on a FLAT road with the cruise set at 60 and I can’t get better than 17. In fact today, my 40 mile round trip on flat road at 60 was under 16.....no wind.

Filled up today, mixture of fwy (70), county roads (50-55), and around town (35-45) and got a measured 18.7.

Agree, as expected anything over 75 takes it into the 17-18 range, even with no load.

That seems about right for 3.21 and no etorque. Mine consistently shuts off at stops. City stop and go is where etorque comes in handy. And yes, anything under 65 shows real decent numbers for our trucks.

I had the stop and start on my 2015 F150 ecoboost, cant say I was a fan of the constant on/off, mpg savings or not. I just dont like all the additional wear and tear on the engine and starter/battery. E-torque may be a good idea, just needs some fine tuning which the early adopters are providing I guess.

As far as mpg differences between like RAM trucks, while normally there are far too many variables for comparison between drivers in different locations, the same driver on the same route who had a competing make of truck last time can get a pretty good idea. While I have not heard of the hemi being a very economical v8, no one ever said it lacked the power.

I recently went on a 1300 mile round trip and got between 20.5 and 21.3 average per tank. I have a camper shell on back and used about 1/4 to 1/3 mid-grade gas per tank and the rest regular. Was almost all interstate 70-74 mph. I've got a regular hemi with 3.92 gears. I was quite pleased with the mileage, my gas receipts closely matched odometer and gallons used so I'm guessing trip meter was pretty close. Currently have just over 7000 miles on the truck.

Out of curiosity, how many miles does the RAM computer factor into its MPG calc? Is it since last reset? Do miles roll off (i.e. only looks at last 100, etc.).

Thanks

I'm averaging 17 and change which is a couple mpg better than my 2nd gen Tundra got with the 4.6L V8.

I just filled up today and hand calculated 17.4 over 460 miles of driving mostly around town. Computer said 17.8. Pretty hard to argue with those numbers, I’m impressed.

It can't be averaging since the last reset. I have one tripmeter that I use to track oil changes and it was showing 19.3 last week with 4200 miles but 1300 of those miles were towing where I was getting about 9.5 mpg. No way can the truck bring the average up to 19+mpg in 2900 additional miles.

Just did a big trip to Northern Michigan from Toronto with some buddies. On the way there I averaged 18.5 with headwinds the entire way. On the way home it creeped up to 20.5 with calmer winds. Pretty decent. I have a limited with 3.92s.

It seems the MPG really drops off once you go past 70-75mph. Truck only has 3000 miles on it so it should get a little better as it breaks in.

Mine has done some sitting in traffic or it would be higher

Off-road package and A/T tires included. I live in a very hilly area (big hills like 6 miles)

The other pic is just for laughs so don’t lose your knickers over it sweethearts!!

:)

I am averaging around 16 to 19 (city & highway) in non cruise mode and cruise (very rarely use it). I have just over 1000 miles.

Laramie sport appearance package, 4x4, crew cab and 3.21 gear ratio.
