5th Gen Towing - reducing sway and sag

I am not sure on that either. I think it varies depending on year of truck and if you have the ORP. Below is for the 2024 for sure that I know of.

This is setting for non ORP. IMG_1987.jpeg

With ORP

I did order this today for rear track bar alignment once my XHD’s come in. I just went off the parts list for the Mopar 2” lift.

I ended up doing the 350-905xhd’s. I should get 2.5” of rear lift if others are right. If I do then I will lift the front 3” to offset the rake a little.

My ram 2500 rear ground to fender was 43”. My 2024 1500 stock rear is 39” without the 1” spacer I added.

look forward to hearing you experience with them! I mayyyyy try the 893xhds sice you didnt. im hesitent since I dont want 2in in the rear and dont really want to have to do a new rear trac bar or anything. What are all the parts you ordered for specifically? When i used to lift Jeeps at or over 2in you needed a new trac bar to re center the rear axle, but the parts you have listed from bam are all different to me.

It’s all the parts from the mopar ram 2” lift kit. It’s the track bar relocation bracket and bolts. I figured if it works for the mopar 2” lift it should be fine for this too. IMG_1983.pngIMG_1981.pngIMG_1982.png

The kit is $1900.

I peiced it together and with 5100’s and new ORP coils for the front I should be under $1000 all in. But as you and I both know we are spending more trying out different coils so I kind of have to peice it together.

Just got to the camp ground and overall truck did well. No sway until 70mph. Luckily it was just a 4 mile stretch. The rest of the trip was 60-65mph.

Still getting some bobbing once in a while but that could be the WDH not set enough still.

Definitely looking forward to the 905xhd’s being even a little more stiff.

Also may order some sway bar links to put the bar back into the correct angle.

Honestly the truck drove great. No white knuckles and was able to enjoy a convo with the wife and relax. So far I’d call the coils a success.

The 350-905xhd’s came in today. WOW are they much thicker and beefier than the tuftruck 1211’s.

I will get a side by side pic here in a bit.

I plan to install them this evening but it looks like I won’t need the 1” spacers anymore as these are longer than the 1211’s.

Honestly I am almost thinking I should have done the 351 variable. We will see. Driver side is going in now.

1” spacer no longer required. Fits like OEM. A little loose but no way it could ever just fall out of place.

Gained 3/4” from the 1211’s with 1” spacer. So overall if going to the 350-905xhd coil from OEM non ORP you would gain 1 3/4”.

*Edit to reflect correct heights I gained.

Thats pretty much what i got with the 893s. Nice

Still thinking your going to use the lift kit pieces for the rear?

Final measurements after torquing everything down and going for a 20 min drive the rear is sitting at exactly 40 3/4”.

So that gave me 1 3/4” over stock.

Honestly I think these cargomaxx coils ride better than the 1211’s. It will be interesting to see when I load up the camper to take it back to storage.

Since it’s so close to 2” lift in rear I am going to do the mopar track bar relocation.

I’m really pleased with the progress and how well this truck tows. I’m almost afraid to mess with it anymore. I feel like it’s really dialed in.

BUT….. I’m going to keep trying things :)

With the rear raised up it really needs to come up on the front to level things back out a bit.

Have you considered Core4x4 rear control arms and track bar? With urethane or Heim joints? There may be other makers as well.

I haven’t looked into that yet. I am planning on doing core 4x4 extended rear sway bar links.

Curious does the aftermarket control arms and track bar help to reduce additional side to side play? Is it mainly due to the bushings used?

Did some reading on replacing rear control arms and sounds like it helps more for rear end hop when launching. I’m sure it also may tighten up other things too but right now I am going to do the front level and rear track bar relocation. I may end up eventually doing the core 4x4 fixed length track bar but we will see.

If anyone else has any opinions on replacing rear control arms for towing I would love to hear if it did help improve towing or even giving a more planted feeling when driving.

I took my truck for work today and put on close to a hundred miles and with the cargomaxx 350-905xhds the ride was not horrible at all. Definitely a little more stiff but not really in a bad way.

Overall I highly recommend. I think they even are helping with the body roll in turns too. So win win
