275/50/22 Continental Terrain Contact AT

I recently had these mounted to replace the stock Goodyear 285/45/22. I wanted a little more sidewall but didn’t want to go to an LT tire. After searching high and low I gave these a go, based on the spec sheet they run wide for a 275. After mounting they are not visibly any narrower than the 285’s that were removed and offer better rim protection. I measured the tread of my wife’s 275/60/20 and the actual tread on these is about 3/4 of an inch wider due to a more square shoulder block.

So if anyone is looking for an OEM+ tire and don’t want to go with a 305/45 these may be worth a look. They measure 32.8in, and I do get a slight rub at full lock.

I too prefer more sidewall, but I feel with the OEM 22's, we're pretty much boxed in. Not many options to go bigger that don't jump straight to "off road" tires. 285/50/22 in a highway/all-terrain tire pretty much don't exist. Heck, even 275/55/22's are ghosts. So that basically leaves us with 275/50/22. I suppose with 97% of my life rolling on Southern highways, that should probably be fine. It would be nice to have a bit more meat though (no diddy ), and to fill the wells for aesthetic reasons too.

I have used these for a while and am happy with them. The slight rub can be fixed by drilling a hole and zip tying the flexible cover back slightly inside the wheel well where it's rubbing.

Hi, I have about 5k on them and they are great. 275/50/22 is a great size in this particular tire. Offers plenty of rim protection and measures 32.8” tall. I’d say they are a great OEM+ replacement/upgrade. Traction is night and day better wet and dry. There is minimal A/T tire noise, and cornering stability is much better and no tread block sound.

I saw a Ram with this same tire in OEM 285/45 and much prefer the visual appearance of the 275/50 and the added sidewall. They look so much better than stock with no drawbacks.
