I have a 2025 Rebel X and I have installed the K&N Cold Air Intake on it. Sounds great, actually noticed a difference. Then....check engine light. It was in the shop for over a week with a problem with the EGR system. They replaced a coolant bypass valve and the light went off. A week later, light is back on. They're replacing the EGR valve this time and saying that it could be the fault of the cold air intake. Too much air, causing the system to freak out. Any thoughts on this? I would hate to take it off, but I don't want to deal with this issue over and over. They also said they'll cover this under warranty but if I don't remove it and the light returns, then it won't be covered.

they will blame anything on anything. i find it hard to believe the air filter is the problem.
in 2008 Chrysler tried to blame a K&N stock replacement for the excessive blow by and my turbo leaking oil.
that being said if i had a twin turbo hurricane i would just leave it alone till it was out of warrantee.

It isn't from too much air. They just want to blame the CAI. Have you tried putting the stock intake back in?

Modern engine being very sensitive to air intake volume differences? Maybe an installation issue with a sensor probe? It started happening after you installed the cold air intake, I would double check the installation, if it's correct than it's not because of an installation issue.

I would then install the OEM one, reset the light with an OBD reader and see if it comes back. If it doesn't, then you know what the issue was. If the light does comes back, then take it back to the dealership and let them figure it out since you removed the CAI variable.

They are replacing the EGR valve and testing it with the CAI installed. If it fails again, they're going to put my stock one back on and test it that way as well. I want to call BS on them blaming the CAI, but with the way they design stuff now, who knows. I just hate to take it off, it sounds great on the truck and I noticed a difference in performance and fuel efficiency with it on.

Well, actually you didn't notice anything except the sound. It is far better to have your truck running properly. Hope it works out.

I have the K&n on my limited HO, was running it for almost two months no issues.. both of cats are bad or melted. the dealership isn't blaming the intake at all they did a software update on the ignition or something they thought would fix the check engine light for the cats but it did not. now they are replacing both cats... but either way they haven't even brought up the intake messing up any sensors or whatever. so maybe ask the dealer you use if there's any software updates they can perform every problem i'm seeing seems to be falling back on the software issues and electrical on these rams... the engines seem to be pretty solid so far..
