2025 Ram Rebel X Cold Air Intake Problems?

I have a 2025 Rebel X and I have installed the K&N Cold Air Intake on it. Sounds great, actually noticed a difference. Then....check engine light. It was in the shop for over a week with a problem with the EGR system. They replaced a coolant bypass valve and the light went off. A week later, light is back on. They're replacing the EGR valve this time and saying that it could be the fault of the cold air intake. Too much air, causing the system to freak out. Any thoughts on this? I would hate to take it off, but I don't want to deal with this issue over and over. They also said they'll cover this under warranty but if I don't remove it and the light returns, then it won't be covered.

they will blame anything on anything. i find it hard to believe the air filter is the problem.
in 2008 Chrysler tried to blame a K&N stock replacement for the excessive blow by and my turbo leaking oil.
that being said if i had a twin turbo hurricane i would just leave it alone till it was out of warrantee.

It isn't from too much air. They just want to blame the CAI. Have you tried putting the stock intake back in?

Modern engine being very sensitive to air intake volume differences? Maybe an installation issue with a sensor probe? It started happening after you installed the cold air intake, I would double check the installation, if it's correct than it's not because of an installation issue.

I would then install the OEM one, reset the light with an OBD reader and see if it comes back. If it doesn't, then you know what the issue was. If the light does comes back, then take it back to the dealership and let them figure it out since you removed the CAI variable.

They are replacing the EGR valve and testing it with the CAI installed. If it fails again, they're going to put my stock one back on and test it that way as well. I want to call BS on them blaming the CAI, but with the way they design stuff now, who knows. I just hate to take it off, it sounds great on the truck and I noticed a difference in performance and fuel efficiency with it on.

Well, actually you didn't notice anything except the sound. It is far better to have your truck running properly. Hope it works out.

I installed a AFE cold air intake inside my Ram 1500 Ecodiesel I had no problems/issues.

I have the K&n on my limited HO, was running it for almost two months no issues.. both of cats are bad or melted. the dealership isn't blaming the intake at all they did a software update on the ignition or something they thought would fix the check engine light for the cats but it did not. now they are replacing both cats... but either way they haven't even brought up the intake messing up any sensors or whatever. so maybe ask the dealer you use if there's any software updates they can perform every problem i'm seeing seems to be falling back on the software issues and electrical on these rams... the engines seem to be pretty solid so far..

I’ve never joined a forum because I knew they are full of douchenozzle know it alls who are holier than thou in every situation. Thought I’d take a chance and join this one. Nope, your reply proved me right. Glad you know what my truck is doing with all your wisdom and knowledge. Goodbye.

no and if it did it would definitely void the warrantee.

Typically when you install a CAI and have start having issues. Its bc it needs a tune. A tune doesn't void the warranty. If you have suspension issues. The warranty still exists. Not sure where people get this from. I purchased a brand new 2007 Mustang GT. and started modding shortly after. I heard the same thing back then as well.

If the cats have gone bad, I'd be fairly certain you're running lean and/or over-boosting.

I built my 2008 GT500 and was running 20 psi and 20° timing and a starter tune to get to the dyno shop.

I completely babied the car to get there (and even had Torco Accelerator add to 93 octane) and yet both cats were funneled in from the lean heat! (Dyno guy was brilliant and Dx'd it right away).

Did a cat delete..since cats weren't gonna play well with that boost and timing..trailered it back and re-dyno tuned and no more issues ever.

Cats are telling you you're lean and they're getting cooked..too much air, not enough fuel.

i guarantee if you tune your RAM the warrantee is void 100%. even if you take the tune off they can tell it was tuned the computer logs everything.
mustang huh, oh and let me show you how ford is. she explains it and she took it well.

there's a good amount of guys running the k&n now with either the JB4 or diablo piggyback without any issues, so I guess well see if others start having cats fail on them or maybe my truck is just a fluke I dont know... I know some owners of RHOs have had their cats melt or fail so maybe something with ram software who knows but they did some update as well as new cats hopefully it'll stay fixed..

5.7 - I am running the pulsar. technically we are changing the tune with piggybacks but at the same time we aren't if that makes any sense..
