Does it?
Really?
On an eTorque motor?
My understanding is that the auto-restart (on an eTorque) does not use the starter or the main battery. It uses the battery pack for the eTorque, and instead of the starter, it uses the same generator for eTorque that assists the motor from (engine running) takeoffs, going up gentle grades, etc..
And it seems like we do hear occasionally about someone with a dead eTorque battery pack. But, I don't recall hearing about anyone needing a new eTorque generator.
So, I'm really not sure if the Stop/Start does ANYTHING to the starter or the main battery. Nor even if it's particularly hard on anything. The eTorque battery pack is exactly made for that kind of thing. Constantly getting fed a little charge then switching to provide a little "push". Back and forth constantly as you drive. Does it really hurt it to add spinning the motor up from zero every now and then?
Again. On an eTorque. I don't know if the non-eTorque Hemis even do the Stop/Start thing. I know my '09 didn't, but my '19 Hemi had eTorque, so I haven't had a non-eTorque Hemi since they started doing that.
