2025 RAM 1500 BIGHORN 3.0 I HURRICANE twin-turbo, SO, 420HP - check engine light

2025 RAM 1500 3.0 I Hurricane TT Standard Output: A Six-Month Review

Current Modifications:

  • Interior: Custom red leather upholstery
  • Exhaust: High-flow exhaust system upgrade
  • Audio: SKAR Dual 12" 1,600 Watts Max Power Loaded Subwoofer Enclosure, paired with a SKAR RP-1200.1D monoblock amplifier
  • Exterior: ALIEN custom black coated steel rollbar with spikes
Performance Evaluation: After six months of ownership, the 2025 RAM 1500 3.0 I Hurricane TT has demonstrated exceptional performance capabilities, primarily attributed to its responsive engine and the aftermarket high-flow exhaust system. The stock exhaust was replaced to enhance the vehicle’s primal acoustic profile, which not only augmented the auditory experience but seemingly improved performance metrics as well. However, it is important to note the vehicle's fuel efficiency, which stands at an average of 17 miles per gallon under spirited driving conditions—a figure that aligns with expectations for a truck of this caliber, though it remains a point of consideration for potential buyers.

Comfort and Usability: The cabin offers a warm and comfortable environment, albeit with some drafts experienced during colder months, suggesting slight improvements could be made in insulation.

Service and Maintenance: The service quality provided by RAM has been generally satisfactory, though not without room for improvement. A notable concern has been the high turnover rate among mechanics and managerial staff, which could impact the consistency and reliability of service, especially about specialized Hurricane engine maintenance.

Corporate Oversight and Customer Relations: STELLANTIS, the parent company, faces significant challenges in customer relationship management and service quality assurance. The persistent issues within their flagship truck line are exacerbated by perceived neglect in addressing customer complaints effectively, inadequate communication, and a lack of proper training for service personnel. To sustain and grow customer loyalty, it is imperative that STELLANTIS undertakes a comprehensive overhaul of its management practices and commits to substantial improvements in product quality and customer service.

Conclusion: The 2025 RAM 1500 3.0 I Hurricane TT Standard Output excels in performance but is let down by suboptimal service experiences and corporate oversight. For STELLANTIS, the path forward should involve a strategic realignment focusing on customer satisfaction, quality assurance, and internal training to avoid becoming obsolete in a competitive market.
So no more CEL or issues with your truck since the last time? Also, what high-flow exhaust did you get?

My ongoing frustration regarding the unresolved Check Engine Light (CEL) issues that have persisted despite six months of investigation has driven me insane. Despite extensive research and numerous discussions with various engineers involved in troubleshooting, a definitive solution remains elusive.

From what I have gathered, there is a temporary workaround that involves a specific sequence of actions when the CEL activates without any loss of power: remotely start the truck for 30 seconds, then stop it remotely, unlock it, and start the car manually. This process seems to clear the CEL temporarily. Additionally, I have been informed that aggressive acceleration might also trigger the CEL, which suggests variability in the triggers.

It is pretty concerning that after extensive efforts, they (STELLANTIS ENGINEERING) still do not have a clear understanding or a permanent fix for this issue. I urge that they prioritize a comprehensive diagnosis and develop a sustainable solution. RAM drivers depend on the reliability of RAM trucks, and they must address this matter with the urgency it warrants.

Guys...those trucks pushing and sometimes WAY over $100K!!!! Wake the **** up, STELLANTIS!

I'm shocked you stuck with it through all of this.

What's even more shocking is how they took an overall pretty good '19-'24 truck and released the '25 with a host of issues (that admittedly not everyone is experiencing).

If I had to buy a new truck today, it'd be a Sierra and not a Ram.

Hopefully by Tim Kuniskis coming back, he can get Ram back on the right track!

Do maintenance records transfer from dealership to dealership? I'm going to try a Ram dealership closer to my home and am wondering if my maintenance history will be available to the new dealership and vice versa if I toggle back and forth based on availability to get my truck in for maintenance.

Been to three dealers and they don't seem to know of the other visits.

That seems a bit wrong. The VIN history should follow the vehicle where ever it gets serviced at a dealer. How do they track factory recalls, software updates, etc.? Wow

Anyone have a Service Uconnect System at Dealership pop on their Infotainment screen? I had this pop up twice and disappear. Doesnt appear to be affecting anything and I'd rather not have to go to the dealership unless I have to. Thank you in advance.
Yep mine just started doing it at about 7500 miles. Super annoying. Good old Chrysler electronics.

Ya I know...one dealer even asked where I purchased!!!!

I gave up on Ram about June after wanting to order for 3 months and had been experiencing the order issues and hearing of the CEL and other issues. My ‘24 GMC 6.2 1500 Denali at 8000 miles is a joy so far. I know they all can have problems but so far so good. Will take a look at 26-27 model RAMs.

That sounds like an excellent strategy. I wish I had followed something similar. I'm currently making two truck payments, as I wait for the lemon law process on my '25 laramie. My '24 rcsb f150 has given me zero trouble so far.

What problems did you have again? I am currently waiting for the same thing :censored:

That has to sting having a new rig parked. I'd be going crazy.
It sure is. I'm tired of seeing it there in my driveway covered in dirty, bird poop and leaves. Hate more that I'm paying for that and insurance.

Since purchasing my 2025 RAM 1500 Warlock, I’ve encountered about 3-4 CEL (Check Engine Light) issues:
  1. Battery Issue - CEL appeared (unsure of the code). The dealer checked both batteries and replaced the smaller one.
  2. P018B - Fuel Pressure Sensor B Error - The dealer flashed the ECU to address a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin). My truck’s build date was September 2024, which was outside the TSB's recommended range, but the dealer still suggested this fix.
  3. P018B CEL Again - The error cleared itself at one point but reappeared intermittently.
  4. Finally, I dropped the truck off at the dealer and requested a thorough diagnosis. The dealer worked with RAM engineers and opened a STAR case.
  5. The dealer identified the fuel pump as the root cause. It took 9 days to get the replacement part, but once it was swapped out, the issue was resolved.
Since the repair, I haven’t had any more CEL warnings. While the truck was running fine before, I noticed a significant improvement after the fix. Gear shifts are now much smoother, especially under light throttle, where you can hardly feel them. Also, my fuel efficiency has improved to around 21-22 MPG in combined local driving (35-55 MPH).

I hope this helps anyone experiencing similar CEL issues with the 2025 RAM 1500!

Fuel pump repair/changed was my fix as well.
