2025 Laramie fuel gauge way off on 33 gallon tank can it be adjusted to be even half way correct?

talk about crazy at basically showing a qtr tank or just under not even touching the red it says low fuel.
I can't remote start it to cool the truck in hot days and heat on cold days the computer won't let it! IE it thinks it's low on fuel with 9 gallons left.
So when I go to fill up when the light comes on it wont even take 23 gallons.
I'm pretty off about it for the money spent , The truck has a 33 gallon I confirmed on last fill I just kept driving with 0 on the range LOL.
when I did finally get fuel it took just over 30 gallons. I had driven at least another 125-150 miles after it saying 0 miles left.

today I will be filling it up when it says close to 0 miles left and get a even better figure of how dang far off it is!!

So I am hoping there is a fix or something that can be done to make closer to actual amount.

thank you that was quick . will the dealership be able to take care of it? I called 2 weeks ago and of course never got an answer or call back.

They “should” be able to w/ whatever software they use but finding one that’s competent and doesn’t screw you around will be mission impossible not to mention getting them to do it on their dime and not charging you. Better off taking your few bucks and verifying it yourself. Cheap software (Alfaobd), bypass cable and bluetooth dongle and you can make changes, scan etc. do a search for Alfaobd you’ll find a thread with information and see what equipment others are using.

It’s not that. The 26 gallon acts similar. 1/4 tank gas light comes on and then it only takes 20 gallons.

On my truck w/ the stock what I later figured out w/ a 26g tank and now 33g the low fuel light will come on when theres’ approx 50 miles to empty left now then changes depending on what type of mpg I’m getting rather if I’m doing city or hwy driving.

Idk if there’s an actual fix other then verifying to its config for the right size tank. IIRC early on there was some guys with the 33g that had similar issues with the calibration being set for a different tank size and would be off as well.

I would offer to go and test this theory by switching to a 23g or 26g config but my tanks currently full but I can tell you when I swapped to a 33g setup for a the first few days I ran the same stock 26g calibration. The miles to empty was off but I again don’t remember if the fuel gauge ever changed or not.

Agreed sucks but nothing to lose sleep over either keep more in the tank if your rely on using remote start so much.

My brand new 2025 1500 Laramie with the 33 gallon tank just did this to me. Low fuel light, cancelled autostart with about a quarter tank showing. Only took about 24.5 gallons at the pump. Have anyone confirmed that Ram production line messed up the sales code calibration of some fuel tanks?

So don't know if you have the ram Uconnect app but when you go to the digital glovebox under vehicle equipment\other it says 5 additional gallons of gas at least it does on mine and I have a 2025 rebel with 33 gallon tank and I've noticed the same. Of course there's not another tank with an additional 5 gallons of gas I believe when the truck says low fuel u still have an additional 5 gallons before empty. So I don't believe there's anything wrong with your truck but instead one of the features they've added! hope this helps!

I haven't noticed anything unusual with the low fuel light on my 2025 Laramie with the 33 gallon tank. So it definitely doesn't seem normal that some are getting a low fuel warning with a 1/4 tank left.

Ok that’s good to know. I’ll have to ask about it next time I’m near a dealer. I also have the fuel range “tape” on the left side of the instrument panel and it shows XXXX on the top and 100 on the bottom. Seems strange, like it should say something else.

On my 15 limited 33 gallon and my 23 Limited 33 gallon, when fuel level gets low, close to the red, same.. I’ve never put more than 26 or 27 gallons in to fill up.
Here’s a question… why not just fill up sooner? I can understand if you’re on a road trip and you’re trying to make it to the next gas station or don’t want to stop.. but day to day driving? Just keep it above 1/4 tank so remote start works…and if you know you have a road trip or long distance drive, you have fuel to burn?

I'll probably put a 5 gallon gas can in the back and drive it to empty, just so I can understand what's really going on. My 2014 was the same way - it seemed to try to keep 5 gallons "in reserve."

That goes both ways.
Warning light could come on with 1 gallon left, people would still ignore them… just like check engine lights, low tire pressure lights, etc.

We live in a coddled society.. so err on the side of more fuel, or less.
More wins every time.

Here’s why you’re paying for a 33 gallon tank.
Because you get an extra 100 miles, give or take, between fill ups.
Are you paying for the warning light or the actual capacity and extra miles associated with it?
For me it’s the latter. Running a tank below 1/4 level simply doesn’t appeal to me.
But if I were forced to, I’m happy to know there’s plenty of fuel in reserve.
I tend to fill up when prices are right and I’m at half a tank or less.

They didn’t mess up programming on some of our trucks. They err’d on the side or more than enough rather than not enough.
You can either accept that or search for the perfect vehicle that fits the gas tank warnings of your idea of perfect.

Has anyone filled up right after getting the low fuel light? I am curious how much gas is in the tank at that point and what the norm is. My 4th gen truck that had a 32 gallon tank, if the low fuel light came on and pulled into a gas station to fill up, it would take just over 26 gallons. So lets say 26.5 gallons, so that would leave 5.5 gallons left in the tank. I will have to try this with my 2025 to see exactly what's left when the light comes on. Someone mentioned having 9 gallons left, that seems like way too much to me and probably not how it was intended to work.
