My truck only has 300 miles on it today, and when I was getting into my car I noticed that the back window (drivers side) had a vertical streak of adhesive on it. After looking around I noticed that there was a small piece of what appears to be felt jammed in the window/door. Looking at the opposite side of the car I can see where that piece was supposed to be (rear side of the back window on the outside of the window and stuck to the frame. So now my car is missing that piece on one side, not sure if that will impact anything. It doesn't seem worth it to bring to a dealer to fix. Thoughts?

Of course, pictures would help with this, but we can't answer for you as to whether or not it's worth taking it in. We can only answer for ourselves, and for me, it would be worth taking it in unless I know it's something I could reliably repair on my own. Since I'm not familiar with that aspect of my truck I'd take it in.

Here are some pics. I’m guessing it’s a cosmetic piece for when the window is down. I can’t imagine it serves any purpose

@RamCares Is this a situation where Ram can just mail out a replacement sticker piece to prevent a dealer visit? I feel like I would waste the dealers time with this, but it does look bad with the window down.

Thanks for the pics. Makes more sense to me now. I doubt you can even order that felt piece by itself. You'll probably need to replace the piece it's attached to. #1 in drawing below...

To have this fixed under warranty, unfortunately the dealership will have to do the work. Why are you so hesitant to take this in? I know it's an inconvenience, but it's how the system works. If going to a dealer is too much trouble for you, it might be worth it to just order this part and replace it yourself, on your dime. If I've identified the correct part, cost of the part is just over $40. Shipping will likely be around $15 from BAM.

Disclaimer: This should be the correct part, based on my best guess. Any advice given is worth the price paid. Not responsible for misidentified parts.

If it was simply putting a sticker on it seems dumb to have to go it. If they replace the whole section then that makes more sense. I have a 20-30m commute to the dealer, then I would need to drop it and leave it, and be without a vehicle for the fix duration. Not worth it for a sticker. Maybe I'll wait and see if anything else comes up to justify the trip. Thanks for sharing that part number!

Thank you for the tag! A dealer diagnosis is required before we can suggest a repair.

My new 2022 Ram 1500 GT had this exact same problem last week at 500 miles. The dealer is replacing the the door weather lining on Monday.

Dealer ordered the part and scheduled me to come in. Went in and dropped it off for the day just to get a call that they didn’t order all the parts, three other weather strips were needed. Told me it would take three weeks and to not use my back window until it came in. Other than this issue, just passed 1000 miles and loving my first ever Ram

Took my truck in today for a few things brought this up and they said probably happened after th window tints. They don’t know if they’ll cover it.
