2022 Orders

Sucks they're shutting down, but it's better to "reset" the parts rack instead of building them incomplete and storing outside like Ford.
You couldn't pay me to buy a Ford truck right now, with no guarantee that it wasn't a model that sat in a lot unfinished for months. Might as well buy a year-old used one for way less money at that point.

Going to be real interesting to see what Ford does with all those trucks, can't re-vin them, can't really sell them. If/when they get the parts to complete them, I think it'll be a fire sale to sell them and then a bunch of warranty work on those trucks due to them sitting.

It will be very interesting to see, but if I was a betting man I'll bet Ford's 40-some-odd-years #1 selling streak is going to come to an abrupt halt this year. I understand what/why they did what they did but I think it's royally going to nip them in the bud short/long term.

I truly believe RAM may take the sales crown away (and you bet your @$$ they'll capitalize on that marketing!) 😂😂😂

Just to get you all excited about the new Uconnect 5 on the 12 inch screen, Autoblog posted this today:
https://www.autoblog.com/2021/09/01/2022-ram-uconnect-5-update/

This justifies me ordering a 2022 instead of buying a 2021 off the lot. The full screen Carplay looks awesome.
They must have pulled from the official Stellantis Media website:

Actually, I think if anything it'll probably look like Ford made a killing, with how many trucks they sell, due to probably having to sell those trucks that sat at a loss. So their units moved will be huge but their profit margins, not so much.

Also, I'm wondering this about the TTPMS myself. Please let me know if you find anything out!
My dealer just got back to me on this one. The module and software are still supposed to be present in the truck, it's just the sensor kit won't be supplied with the truck. We'll be able to buy it and program them to the truck later on.

That's good news! I wonder if we need to have sensors specific to the Ram's built-in system, or if most any sensors would work...?

If this holds true, that makes me feel a LOT better about them dropping the package cost by only a $100.

Maurice with Ram Chat gave me the following update on my 2022 Laramie SW Edition (VIN 121303):

"I am showing all of the materials needed to start the build process have been received and your vehicle is waiting for its turn in the assembly line. The vehicle should be entering the build process very soon. The 2022 RAM production has not started quite yet, In this case we can suggest checking back early next week for an update on your order. Congratulations again on the purchase! We appreciate having you in the RAM family!"

No word yet from the dealership.

Guessing this means I'm in D1 status??
That might be a good sign? Usually it seems like Ram Chat tells people to check back in a "couple weeks".

I read part of the U5 article. It said off road pages will be on the center screen on Ram with U5. That would be nice to have. It doesn't say if ORG is required to get off road pages. I hope they'll put it on all the trucks.

Yeah, it may very well go that way too. I don't truly know how the sales numbers are calculated. (Actual units produced/completed, UCC filings, invoiced to dealer, or sold/registered to end-user) I think it will depend on which metric they end up using.

Either way, I think long-term it's going to hurt their resale value on these 21 trucks because buyers will know (if they don't forget) that these units most likely sat somewhere for quite a while in storage. There will be no way to prove/disprove if a given unit was fresh or not-so-much once the unit was purchased.

Yes, me too. The part number for the sensor kit is: 52112451AA. I have not checked with the dealer, but can't find pricing online anywhere for this kit. I've attached the installation/programming instruction manual.

I believe you'll have to have ORG to get the OR pages, and/or the G/T or TRX to get the Performance Pages. AlfaOBD anyone?

Friggin sweet man. Just saved that PDF to my OneDrive, that will definitely come in handy. Thanks for posting it!

Wow, what a day for SOME updated info I guess. My dealer just sent me some screenshots from my order (as he wasn't able to provided an "expanded" view of the POC) and it shows the LL1 package with the Technology Group items included now. It also confirms FOR SURE that LL1 will contain the ASG features and these have not been disbanded altogether. It's all comforting confirmation for quite a few of us on here. :D

Wait, I posted a reply but realize I was wrong. It's "sold by the dealer".

So wait, are you saying the dealer has confirmed that despite your order having been placed prior to the change in package contents (limited level 1), that your specific order has been updated to include the revised version of the package, to include the added items (HUD, etc.)? If so, that’s huge news.

Or is he just showing you generic screen shots from the rose system of what the packages are now, which would NOT necessarily be a reflection of your specific order which again was placed prior to the change?
I ordered just after you so I’m keenly interested here!

Just FYI for everyone I got that document off the FCA US Fleet website. There's actually some great information there including some "engineering" drawings of dimensions, specs, etc. Worthwhile to check out. (I regularly go there to check for updated information as I've seen in the past that new MY information will get posted there BEFORE the "public" website does.

He said my POC hasn't updated to match yet, but that it will. But his system is now showing the updated package contents.

More juicy bits from the Stellantis website today. Must be early Christmas!

  • Confirmation of Trailer Hitch Light (was fairly certain it was coming)
  • UConnect 5 (we already knew)
  • N95 Cab filter (we already knew)
  • Mentions Blue Shade exterior for 10th Anniversary (again) Not sure what's up with this one......
  • Longhorn SouthFork....this is new....they must be trying to clear out the parts bin on this one

It’s “hasn’t yet, but will” that’s the real rub. It’s not surprising that the option descriptions have finally been updated, but there hasn’t been any real confirmation that the change is actually retroactive to customer orders, just dealer stock orders. I fear it won’t be until a Limited Level 1 purchaser, that ordered prior to the change, gets their actual build sheet that this will be a settled matter.
