2020 Overland Ram Build

I must have confused your truck with another overland centric truck on this forum that sits on 37s. Embarrassing because I’ve paid attention to your Texas based build as closely as Desert Dawg’s. I thought mine had recalibrated itsel, but realized that the speedometer only matched what I thought was GPS calculated speed through Waze when connected through CarPlay. Unplug the cord and only then does Waze display GPS calculated speed. I think I’ll pull the trigger on a Rough Country calibrator and see if I can get a little drivability back after my swap to 35s. Some have said that properly setting tire diameter improved their transmission shift points/feel, and in addition to proper speedometer and odometer reading, that’s something I’d really like.
I was honestly surprised with how much 'get up and go' I still had switching to 35's.. I may of went with 37's if I knew it was going to be this good.. I may consider 37's when these are done.. I also have the 3.92 gears though. I had roughly the same lift and tires on a 2010 Silverado 1500 and it was a dog.. I think that truck only had 3.08's though which would explain it. Hopefully by the time the 35's I have wear out there will be gear options for our trucks so if I need to change gears they'll actually be available.

Finally got my tow hooks in so was able to get this @VICE design winch mount and winch installed!

I'm horrible at taking pictures along the way, only snapped one pic during install :(
Since I had it all taken apart I went ahead and removed the front air dam and that active air dam thingamabob that was behind it.

I ended up going the "Cut the honeycomb grill insert instead of running the piece that comes with the winch mount" method. I think it gives it a cleaner look. Now to find a black fairlead and clutch lever because that amount of silver on the front is already irritating me. Also need to go ahead and get some black license plates while I'm at it.

Either way, happy with how it came out!

Still in progress of adding all my lighting but here's an update on my Switch Pros SP-9100 and lighting setup. For Pods, since I'm going to be running 8 total and to me I don't need $250 Rigid Pods.. I opted for Nilight which so far have been awesome and all I need. I picked up a couple spares to carry in the truck in case one goes out but I got all 8 of them for less than a pair of the big name brand so I'm content with that.

The 8 Switches will be:

Ditch Lights
Left Side
Right Side
Rear
Rock
RC 6" Grill Spots
All On
*Both Sides
*Temporarily until I figure out what other lighting I want for the last remaining switch.

Installed the Switch Pros controller in headliner (Was a bit nerve racking drilling holes into a brand new truck's headliner!!)

Still to come:
2 more flood pods on each side of the rack, the pair on each side will be wired together for a "Left Lights Button" and a "Right Lights Button" (I'm about 3/4 of the way done installing these)
8 RGB-W Rock Lights (1 above each tire, 1 on each side, 1 in front, 1 in rear)
Pair of Rough Country 6" Grill Spot LED's

Almost forgot! Some pics of them actually on

Quick little video playing with the strobe effect on Switch Pros

And here's just some random pics from a day out actually enjoying the truck in the Sam Houston National Forest with my friend in his Rover.

RE: your Vice setup, I was always curious about modding the OEM insert instead of running the winch kit blank. Knowing you can run this way I am more tempted to get this kit myself. Nicely done.

I had an ARB bumper and a Warn winch on my old 3rd gen 2500. What winch did you end up using? I’m leaning towards a Smittybilt this time.

I went with the Smittybilt X20 12k Gen2 Comp.. synthetic and wireless winch controller were why I went that route.

How bad were the pinstripes after that trip through the undergrowth?
Not too bad actually! I got a few on the front fenders pushing away the brush.. We were definitely on some trails meant for Jeeps and other smaller vehicles but the wife sat there and took it like a champ and didn't say a word.. I was expecting her to start freaking out but she did good!

@Tex_Ram have you seen the roof rack/tonneau cover set up from Nuthouse? Think this is exactly what you are looking for. They will fabricate to the height you want as well. I found them and interested in going this route due to them having a similar solution for my ram box set up. You are far ahead of me on build, but it appears we are going similar directions.

Ok been slacking on getting a picture up here! Have had it on about 2 weeks now, Tuff Stuff Alpha Roof Top Tent!

*She's sitting really low in the rear in this picture.. I have 800 bottles of water that were being donated to Louisiana Hurricane Relief I had just picked up.

Could I ask which fuse number slot you used? I’m trying to install my own but the fuses I’ve found keep the switch pro running 100%

Fuse F66 under the dash.

This isn't my picture, I used a Fuse Tap but this is which fuse it is

Well I can't find it.. but there is a couple screws you pull out then the panel under the steering wheel pops off then you can easily access the fuse panel.

This post kinda shows what it is

Thank you!!

I have stripped most of the overland stuff off my truck and built it out differently. Closing this thread.
