2020 Big Horn - Ridiculous they still are leaking

So I have a 2020 Big Horn, had it for about 45 day, 1300 miles. Got a real good rain today and bang! Water dripping down from the 3rd brake light area. It blows my mind that Chrysler has not fixed an issue that has been going on since the first new style rolled off the line!

I took it to my dealer to fix the leak and front suspension popping noise issue. Since I have a shell, they won’t address the leak until I remove it. So, they are fixing the suspension issue now, I have to go pick it up, remove the shell and bring it back. It’s a pain, but I understand they don’t want the liability on damaging it.
Here’s my beef: they gave me a loaner for the suspension issue repair but tell me they can’t guarantee Chrysler will approve a loaner when I bring it back for the leak. Really? This issue has been going on with the new body style from the beginning and now I have to fight to get a loaner? Ridiculous!
Also, There are 2 spots on the back window that clearly have the cracking issue, you can see them forming. The service advisor tells me they can’t address that issue until it “actually cracks”. So, I’ll have to pull the shell again and go thru the song and dance all over.
RamCares, can you provide any assistance here?

Very disappointing that this is still happening. Like you, I don't understand why FCA has not addressed this.
Good luck with your repairs and hopefully you get a loaner for all the time it is in the shop, certainly should be entitled to one.

What's crazy is it's not just Ram, Silverado's are having the exact same issue. I don't know if they're using the same supplier or what but you'd think between the two of them they'd get this figured out. I would think they'd rather not pay to have all these windows replaced.

Bought mine used with 11,000 miles about 3 weeks ago. No leaks yet, I'm just hoping it happens before the warranty is up!

What is wrong with these new trucks! Just had my rear window replaced because it was raining inside my truck ... Now I have an issue with the steering that nobody can figure out! My warranty is up in 700 miles. Worst financial decision I've made in my life buying this truck!

Ram dealerships continue to make this truck hard to buy for many. You would think they would address this as this is most likely the last obstacle to overcoming competitors.

Not that Ford is spectacular, but I have an amazing relationship with my local one.

Fortunately my truck has been flawless, but I feel for those that are having these issues. I hope FCA finds a fix and takes care of everyone that is having a problem. Leaking vehicles in 2020 is completely unacceptable.

I took it in this morning, they had to order the 3rd brake light. They say it's on back order and have no ETA on the part. So in the meantime I have 2 choices: drive it around uncovered and leaking or cover it with plastic and drive around in a 55K truck with plastic taped over the 3rd brake light. This is beyond ridiculous. Dealership is telling me they have no idea how long it will take. I'm tempted to drive it around uncovered and let it ruin the headliner, back seat, etc and have all of it replaced. Although, just my luck those parts will be on "backorder" too.

What is your steering problem? I have a steering problem that they cant figure out either. Mine sticks when turning left. It does not come back to center. I can take some curves and corners and let go of the wheel and it keeps turning. Is this what you have?

Good luck with the fix. I just had my rear window replaced last week. I picked it up Monday and it rained yesterday. I looked at the back window, the new one is leaking also. I have had nothing but problems with this truck. It has been in the shop already for about 35 buisness days (about 50 counting weekends and holidays) and still has to go back again for a new rear window and to try to fix my steering problem. This is absolutely unacceptable.

No. Mine grinds when turning right at low speeds. Dealership wouldn't fix it because they could not replicate the issue. Now it's out of factory warranty. I know it needs a new rack and pinion

Does anyone know if there is an updated 3rd brake light. I noticed a stain in my headliner and had the Dealership look at it. They brought in a specialist who stated it was the 3rd brake light and that Ram has an updated part, but the parts department said their was no new part number.

1300 miles must be the magic number. Seen a few that had similar miles when the leak started, including my 2020. Mine is currently at the shop for leak diagnosis but I'm pretty confident it's the 3rd brake light. When it was leaking, you can push on the light from the exterior and see water push out.

Here is a video showing how saturated the seal is. It's basically a sponge that they used for a seal. 2020 Ram Water Leak video

Hi @Chrisdp23 - I am very sorry to hear that you are dealing with this concern. Please know that I would be more than happy to escalate your situation to a specialist who can provide both you and your dealer with an additional layer of support in handling this. We are just a private message away to get the process started.

So it was confirmed at the dealer today that my leak was from the 3rd brake light. They used black rtv to seal it, but not sure how much I like that fix. I would have preferred a new rubber seal that many of the people on here got at lowes and did the fix themselves. Now it will be hard for me to do any bulb changes myself if any ever burn out. But I guess at the end of the day if it stops the leak, it is better than before.

Black RTV is that a FCA fix or the dealers fix? If that is the best FCA can do that is not acceptable, if a temp fix by the dealer I can somewhat understand to stop further damage until a permanent fix is figured out. Did they put a bead where the gasket should be, or did they attemp to seal it once the brake light housing was put back in?
