These Transmissions are incredibly sensitive to transmission fluid levels. And that gets exponentially more unpredictable depending on ambient temperature and transmission temperature . And sadly because bean counters chose not to provide a dipstick, technicians are too lazy or stupid to check fluid physically, instead relying on plug-in computer sensors.
I posted multiple remedies thst one can take (about a year ago) somewhere on this forum that has helped several people. When I first got my Ram it was slamming into gear on 123 and 321 shifts. And I mean SLAMMING! It has gotten better, but other issues persist. There is a throttle pedal lag when accelerating from a standstill. Aggravated when stop/start is functioning. When it does start from a start-stop situation, the engine torque rocks the truck and wants to lunge forward a few inches. Additionally, sometimes with jabbing the throttle to accelerate (at low speeds) or get a good downshift, there will be a delay in downshifting/acceleration and or the engine RPMs will hold after I lift off the throttle. When coming to a stop you can feel the truck still slightly accelerating (fighting the braking) instead of coasting, as if the torque converter doesn't want to unlock. Intermittently, I will get a one time clanging slam sound when I start the truck after it sits for as little as 5 minutes. I can have hemi engine tock last for few seconds upon startup or until I finally put it in Drive. The truck will have a noticeable vibration when Eco mode kicks in and the Hemi will sound like a diesel with engine knock heard all around the truck. Quite embarrassing to hear engine knock as you're cruising past people in a $70,000 sticker gas engine truck. And yes, I still get the slamming sensation seemingly coming from the back when posting through a corner or rolling through a yield sign and applying throttle again.
I just stopped bothering to take it into the dealer after visiting three different dealers, at least 8 visits that resulted in everything from reprogramming, FCA engineer's cases, "it's normal operation", or "I feel it but there's nothing we can do about it."
Back when I was a service advisor and service manager, we would simply put a device into the customers vehicle to allow data capturing. But I've been informed that apparently no such device exists to work with me new DT generation of electronics.
I have been dealing with this sense brand new, August 2020 , and in Lemon Law purgatory for almost but a year now. So all of you who are at least getting a transmission, consider yourself lucky.
