I wanted to share my experience with other users and potential buyers. I have had my 2019 RAM 1500 Limited since last year and it has 19k miles on it. To date I have had to have numerous repairs on the truck. The latest repair was completed today where the radio was replaced. All in all I have been without my truck for at least 30 days due to all the repairs. My repairs have included:

1. ABS recall
2. Front brake caliper replacement
3. Hood repairs
4. Ground cable repair
5. Occupant restraint recall
6. AC repair
7. Rear brake and rotor replacement (4 times to the dealer on this issue alone)
8. Adjustable brake pedal repair
9. Radio replacement

I am very disappointed in Dodge. Having spent close to 60k on a new truck I would not expect to have had so many issues with it. I reached out to Dodge to have a discussion around a buyback (vs litigation) and was told by the case manager that she only handled radios and could not assist. I believe I have a strong case under NYS lemon laws to have this vehicle replaced by the manufacturer. I am very concerned about the long term viability of this vehicle. Once the warranty expires I am afraid this is going to cost me dearly to keep on the road given all these problems.

My 6-month-old Ram has also been in the dealership for over a month, but I think they need to be unable to fix the vehicle for lemon law to start being an option for you. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it's an easy process and I think having an unfixable problem makes a big difference.

It's not a Dodge, and hasn't been for many years. It's a RAM.
Recalls apply to most if not all of the trucks from this generation.
You have a warranty for a reason, and from what I can see in your list none of those items will qualify you for a lemon law buy back. Frustrating and disappointing sure, but be glad FCA has determined that these items should be fixed at their expense. Do you want them to NOT fix ABS modules or other important safety items?

I get the disappointment in your truck and whether you spend $20k or $100k on a new vehicle you expect to not have any problems, but that unfortunately is not the case with any of the manufacturers. I suggest you buy an extended warranty or unload it on another make and hope it's trouble free.

It depends on your state but many of the states have a number of repairs OR number of days in the shop requirement so even if they were able to repair it finally, if they've had it for X number of days (depends on your state but 30 is a typical number), then it qualifies for Lemon Law protection. Consultations with Lemon Law attorneys are free and they'll confirm if you have a case so you should look into it if you think you qualify after checking your state laws.

For reference, I lived in MA at the time and had a Mazda that went in three times for repair and they were able to finally fix the issue but I still filed a Lemon Law case and the Mazda settled for around $7K I think. They offered to buy it back but the issue was a dealer installed (manufacture supplied) remote start that ended up being the culprit and once it was fixed, I was comfortable the car would be good from that point on and had no further issues.

Sorry Mark but RamCares is a bug waist of time. I did PM you to ask if you could help or escalate my case; your team replied that the current case manager was the best person to deal with. Just like I have read in many posts; the case manager has not followup on calls or emails. Why offer your teams services if your not going to help; this just pisses off the consumer even more.

Hey I share you pain
I have a 2019 Laramie. My truck has been in the Dealer 10 times (2 different dealers). I engaged with Ram Care in June last year (2019). I have in that time had 5 different RAMCARE Case Managers. I have 3 issues that have been present report and requested to be fixed on all occasions. To date zero progress. Now the covid situation is 'the cause of the delays' .
So I agree with the assessment that RAMCARE adds little value to progress issues. I did hope that the RAMCARE reps here on the forum might actually be able to drive resolution but have had the same experience with them just oushing to the 'assigned' case manger (which is going nowhere slowly and painfully).
I hope your lemon laws are better than they are here in TX. I too am investigating this avenue.

All the best with the situation. Let me know if you find a better avenue in the RAM org that actually can drive resolution. I would be interested in trying any other avenues.

While I appreciate your honesty, @Mikemarshallau, this is not how we expect for our customers to feel. Please know that I did look into your current case based on your previous conversation with our team so that I could determine how to best assist. At this point, I have documented your outreach that you shared both privately in your last conversation, and the additional feedback that you have provided here for your case specialist to review and follow up on. If you have any trouble receiving a follow up from your specialist, please do not hesitate to follow up with me via private message so that I may reach back out to your specialist.

Mark,

I did receive an email asking me if I was able to contact the service manager, and provided me the dealership phone number. The specialist who should have a better relationship with dealers, originally stated that they would contact the service department and keep me updated on the status of my repair.

Several months back I had another case involving water leaking into the cab and rusted seats; that specialist also blew me off. This has nothing to do with the Coronavirus. I have owned many FCA products, previously Jeeps. Even backed by Consumer Reports, we all know that FCA ranks low in dependability/reliability; that's why I always have an extended warranty. I stuck with this brand because I love the style but what pisses me off is that the term RamCares is an oxymoron. A simple call stating "the dealership is still trying to diagnose the problem" is a lot better than a promised a callback that never comes. Regarding mine and a couple others on this forum that are waiting for a replacement radio; with the Coronavirus plants have shut down, there should be tons of radios just sitting around. Over 20 years in the military I was always able to find a resolution by hitting the phones, even finding replacement equipment from sometimes halfway around the world. RamCare, actions speak louder than words.

I can certainly respect and appreciate your honesty, @HMC8403, and I really do apologize that this has been your experience. After checking into your case, I see that your case manager tried to reach out to your dealer SA, but she had to leave a message as the SA did not answer her call. In her follow up email to you, she was just checking to see if you had a chance to speak with the SA on your end.

Please know that I have documented your feedback expressed here and requested that your case manager get back in touch with you as soon as possible. Should you have any trouble receiving a follow up, please be sure to reach back out.

it does, all time out of service does.
Not according to lawyers that specialize in lemon law cases.

The purpose of lemon law is to protect you in the event you purchase a defective vehicle and hold manufacturers accountable for a defect. If they recognize that defect and recall the vehicle to fix it, then lemon law no longer applies.

I’m having issues too. Tires been balanced 4 times. Truck only has 3800 miles on it, tires wore funny on outsides. Finally they are replacing the rack and pinion next week as it has been bad from factory. Causing constant vibrations and tires out of balance. I hope this fixes it. Driving to dealers and back and techs driving my truck that’s where most miles came from lol. They put 37 miles on it today, I almost asked for gas money! My breaks have also been replaced

Seems like you have had a lot of brake problems. What was the problem you were having? Were they not functioning correctly or did you have a squeak?

mine will be traded before my 3 year 36000 mile warranty is up for sure. I’ve never felt so bad about a car purchase as this truck!! Was my first and last ram!
