Hey all,
Adding myself to the list of unsatisfied owners who have spent too much money to deal with these issues. My truck has a unique history. Purchased Black 2019 Ram 1500 Limited from a dealer at 15K miles in Dec 2019. The truck shows that I am the first owner because this was owned by the dealership during the first 15K miles. I thought this was a good sign as all of the problems with the truck would have been noticed and worked out. NOT SO. Here are the items I've already experienced:

1. On delivery of the truck, the passenger side mirror and door had scrapes. Went back for the first 2 weeks to replace the mirror cap and buff out the door scrape
2. The Ram limited logo in the floor mat was never installed. These are riveted in and the holes in the floor mat show no signs of ever having a rivet in it.
3. I live in a cold dry climate and so it took 2 months for the first rain. On first rain, my back seat floor was soaked and water trickled down the front windshield when I hit the brakes.
4. Uconnect system has reset itself twice now clearing all user settings (I'm hoping this is fixed with some wisdom about user profiles from this forum)
5. Weird brake noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when reversing. This is random and seems to happen only on select cold mornings.
6. Dealer installed bakflip bed cover leaks water into the bed. (Hoping to fix this with weather stripping after advice from this forum)

My truck is currently in the shop addressing items 3 and 5. I live in a small town and I'm not sure if the dealer is incompetent or playing dumb. I've read on this forum all the things that can cause these 2 issues and explained it to the service manager when I left the truck. He calls me at the end of the day and tells me that they put a hose on the front of my truck and can't see any leaks. I asked if they checked the brake light or the seating of the sunroof drain plugs and he said that's not something he's heard of and that he's not sure how that would cause water in the overhead console. He then tells me they can't reproduce the brake noise and it's another thing him or the tech have not dealt with before but there are open service bulletins about them. He wants me to describe the noise and tells me my description could be either one but because they can't reproduce it, they won't be able to do anything. To top everything off, they call me on friday night and give me an update, then on saturday (they have normal saturday hours), I call and ask for an update and a different person says he doesn't know what's going on with my truck. I ask if he can find out and he tells me the service person was off that day and there's no updates given. So I ask again for him to check. So he says he'll call me back. While I am waiting, I figure I'd drive by the dealership to see what's up. There, my brand new BLACK truck, is sitting outside covered in hard water stains from the water test. The guy calls me back and tells me that my truck is being worked on right now and that they'll probably have to keep it until monday. It got a little uncomfortable when I told him I was at the dealership looking at my truck not being worked on. He tells me that's just the update he was given and he "doesn't know what to tell me".

As if things at FCA aren't bad enough but then they also have dealerships that are either really shady or just not trained well enough. This is the first Ram I've ever purchased and it's looking like it might be my last. I've owned 2 Chevy's and 1 Ford (plus the wife's Hyundai) all brand new and not had issues. Icing on this cake, while waiting for my truck, one of the service employees explained to me how shady the salesmen at this dealership are. How they take in vehicles at blue book and then try and rip off unsuspecting customers by reselling vehicles for more than they are worth. (This sounds like standard practice to me but it was weird that a Service employee felt the need to tell me the salesmen were shady)

@RamCares I'll continue documenting my experience here.

Good luck. On the plus side, it sounds like you only have a few issues, and they’re well-documented/fixable. The water intrusion issue (in my mind) is the biggie to focus on. Here’s hoping that patience and perseverance will pay off for you!

Op good luck with it all as sadly every manufacturer has their pro and con sales / service wise. What really sours the deal is your first experience has to be this. Please keep us posted and you may need to move this up the chain as far as service manager / general manager. Definitely make your presence known and make them aware that you are NOT going away...

Bring in the Brake TSB and tell them to fix exactly what's on the paper. It's a known issue and they don't have to be able to replicate the issue in order to fix it. They sound lazy like my place so if you give them a paper with the exact parts and procedures they have to do it.

Thanks for the replies! I did get my truck back yesterday. The entire report said "Could not replicate" on each service item. Interestingly enough, my climate control was set to 85 degrees on defrost so it seems they were trying to dry something out. They also re-seated the drain between the cab and the bed but didn't note it in the service report.

For the brakes, they did say that the parts are on back order with no definite time for delivery and they'd just call me when ever they come in. The service advisor said probably a couple months. On the up side, they did vacuum and wash my truck. On the down side, all of the sudden there's a softball size of scratches on the interior of my back passenger window. Of course they said they have no idea how they got there and they weren't even in the back seat (except to vacuum). I just can't describe how much I hate going to the dealer for anything, it always seems something else is wrong when you get your vehicle back.

Man...sorry you're going through that....sounds to me like your dealership is a flake. Not sure how far another dealer would be but.....I would find another. I am surprised someone from Ram Cares isn't reading this thread and responding to you.….they usually do and can help escalate a problem. Good luck....find another dealer.

Hi copekyle,

I am very sorry to see all of the trouble that you have had to endure during your ownership experience. More than that, I understand the frustration associated with the dealer not being able to duplicate your concerns. At the very least, I would like to get you connected with a case specialist who can work alongside your dealer to try and get the brake parts in as soon as possible. Your specialist would also be able to work alongside you and your dealer regarding your additional concerns as well. Our team is just a private message away to get the process started.

Sounds like mostly dealer issues on a well used truck. Some of that has nothing to do with FCA. The water leak is obviously a big deal, so hopefully that gets squared away. I also have the groaning brake issue and I'll have it fixed the next time it's in for an oil change.

Just an update to this. The dealer called and said they have the parts in for the brake repair. So that's taken care of.

I also believe I figured out the deal with my water leak. The rear drains were obviously not seated and water leaked in there. I only drive my truck once or twice a week and so the water from the rear floors most likely evaporated into the roof of the truck and created condensation that rolled forward when hitting the brakes. Only time will tell but I think I'm free and clear for now.

Thanks for keeping us posted, and good news that the brake repair parts are in. As was mentioned before, your # 3 and 5 have a documented history on the forum, and there should be TSB's or other known fixes you can print off and take in with you, even if it means the (pain in the butt) trip to a second dealer.

The other thing perhaps is to photograph your truck on all sides before you drop it off for service, (while the service writer sees you doing it), so they know you are concerned with the truck's condition.

Push the issues with RAM Cares, document document and then be willing to look at your state's lemon laws for the water fix. Remember there's a time limit on that procedure.

Hopefully these issues will be resolved.

Lastly, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater... Over on the F150 forum you'll go blind reading about their problems.
I know, I came from a Ferd and read extensively on the 15+ forum about their many, many issues.

Thank you for following up to share this update, copekyle. Please know that we are still more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf so that a specialist can work alongside your dealer for the rest of the time you are in service. We're always just a PM away.
