Hey all,
Adding myself to the list of unsatisfied owners who have spent too much money to deal with these issues. My truck has a unique history. Purchased Black 2019 Ram 1500 Limited from a dealer at 15K miles in Dec 2019. The truck shows that I am the first owner because this was owned by the dealership during the first 15K miles. I thought this was a good sign as all of the problems with the truck would have been noticed and worked out. NOT SO. Here are the items I've already experienced:
1. On delivery of the truck, the passenger side mirror and door had scrapes. Went back for the first 2 weeks to replace the mirror cap and buff out the door scrape
2. The Ram limited logo in the floor mat was never installed. These are riveted in and the holes in the floor mat show no signs of ever having a rivet in it.
3. I live in a cold dry climate and so it took 2 months for the first rain. On first rain, my back seat floor was soaked and water trickled down the front windshield when I hit the brakes.
4. Uconnect system has reset itself twice now clearing all user settings (I'm hoping this is fixed with some wisdom about user profiles from this forum)
5. Weird brake noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when reversing. This is random and seems to happen only on select cold mornings.
6. Dealer installed bakflip bed cover leaks water into the bed. (Hoping to fix this with weather stripping after advice from this forum)
My truck is currently in the shop addressing items 3 and 5. I live in a small town and I'm not sure if the dealer is incompetent or playing dumb. I've read on this forum all the things that can cause these 2 issues and explained it to the service manager when I left the truck. He calls me at the end of the day and tells me that they put a hose on the front of my truck and can't see any leaks. I asked if they checked the brake light or the seating of the sunroof drain plugs and he said that's not something he's heard of and that he's not sure how that would cause water in the overhead console. He then tells me they can't reproduce the brake noise and it's another thing him or the tech have not dealt with before but there are open service bulletins about them. He wants me to describe the noise and tells me my description could be either one but because they can't reproduce it, they won't be able to do anything. To top everything off, they call me on friday night and give me an update, then on saturday (they have normal saturday hours), I call and ask for an update and a different person says he doesn't know what's going on with my truck. I ask if he can find out and he tells me the service person was off that day and there's no updates given. So I ask again for him to check. So he says he'll call me back. While I am waiting, I figure I'd drive by the dealership to see what's up. There, my brand new BLACK truck, is sitting outside covered in hard water stains from the water test. The guy calls me back and tells me that my truck is being worked on right now and that they'll probably have to keep it until monday. It got a little uncomfortable when I told him I was at the dealership looking at my truck not being worked on. He tells me that's just the update he was given and he "doesn't know what to tell me".
As if things at FCA aren't bad enough but then they also have dealerships that are either really shady or just not trained well enough. This is the first Ram I've ever purchased and it's looking like it might be my last. I've owned 2 Chevy's and 1 Ford (plus the wife's Hyundai) all brand new and not had issues. Icing on this cake, while waiting for my truck, one of the service employees explained to me how shady the salesmen at this dealership are. How they take in vehicles at blue book and then try and rip off unsuspecting customers by reselling vehicles for more than they are worth. (This sounds like standard practice to me but it was weird that a Service employee felt the need to tell me the salesmen were shady)
@RamCares I'll continue documenting my experience here.
