Preparing to order a 1500 Crew Cab 4wd & wondering, other than for looks, why people may prefer 20" or 22" wheels.

I'd rather save the $2000 and buy the rims/tires I want instead of what they only offer. Plus I've heard the 22" tires are more expensive.

I prefer my stock 20's. I think they're the perfect size and look. I will not buy aftermarket. I am not lifting. Probably going to level eventually though.

Just matters what your plans and preferences are. I think Ram did a great job with the night edition rims on the Bighorn.

I got a set of 20" AT tires for winter driving in the mountains. I'll swap out and put the 22" stock ones back in the dry months. Best of both worlds!

I'm use to off-roading, I don't even want the 18" wheels, honestly wish I could fit 17" for even more rubber like the they do on the Power Wagon 2500.

But if I was going to do a full on street truck, those 22" OEMs look mighty tasty! I would still likely go with 20" just so I can park up against a curb without any worry about scraping. I would hate to drive a big truck and worry about curbing a wheel like I do on my sedans.

I just traded my 2019 with 22's in for my 2021 with 20's and much prefer the ride with the 20s. The 22's look really nice but i prefer the way 20s feel. If you are gonna order one, see if they have the same model truck and options with both and test drive them. It's really gonna come down to personal preference. If you are getting a night edition, it comes with 22's and lots of other stuff for 4k. The 22 upgrade is almost 2k alone and think if you didnt max out the build, there are better options for the money

I'd rather have 20's, but the 22's were on the only truck we could find that had all the other options we wanted. We'll probably swap sometime down the road.

I'd say 20's.
You would have already known if you wanted the 22's.
There is no advantage other than the 'look'.

Larger sidewall will always ride better but aesthetically the bigger the better imo.

As I am preparing to order a 2021 Limited & the 22" wheels are in a package I want, except that item, I am wondering if you can delete that single item & get the 20" rims & perhaps even a few dollars off?

I have seen some Limiteds come with 20" wheels. Not sure what package you have to remove.. Might be worthwhile to go through a dealer as they'd probably have more specific control over what to configure/order.

I have 22's in 2WD, good looking rims, but if you figure discounted off of window sticker anyway, they cost you maybe 2G. Tires are about $130 each for replacements. I have a limited, they ride better than I though they would.

You don't need to remove any packages unless you are ordering a night edition. The 22's are a seperate option of around 2k

You cant delete them if they are on a vehicle in the lot, but you may be able to negotiate the price or if you are really lucky, have a dealer swap them out as part of the deal.

I have been thinking about the wheels a lot since purchasing my 2020 Limited. I purchased it off the lot and it has 22" wheels. Ps, the stock GY tires a crap in the snow.
Anyway, I purchased this truck so I can tow my Airstream trailer and I'm wondering if the 20's would provide a smoother, but still stable, ride while towing. The 22's can be a harsh ride due to the limited side wall, and there are limited options for tires.

The door sticker states weight capacity based on the wheel/tire combination when it left the manufacturer.

If I find someone to swap the wheels with and get 20's, what does that mean to the allowable payload and towing characteristics?

The original tires on the 22" are not the greatest and have seen people struggling in the snow with those Goodyears, in other words, you will pay to upgrade to 22" then have to replace original tires to your liking.

I Have a a custom set and stocks, I replaced the original on the stocks.
