Thanks for your reply. Here's the rub; my original battery was drained so badly, it would not accept a jump, nor did it have enough ummph in it to even be load tested. Dealer charged it for 3 hours, it accepted a full charge and they sent me on my way. That is not the right answer...

Thanks. I am not running CarPlay. But I am receiving texts without having CarPlay on, simply because i needed to turn on notifications on my cell phone.

As it turns out, I am able to used messaging/text without Carplay. I needed to "turn on notifications" in the Bluetooth settings of my IPhone.
