2020 Ecodiesel Engine Oil performance & Breakdown

Yes, also MS-12991 oils are mid-to-high SAPS, which is going to clog your DPF sooner. That's why I'm running a low-SAPS oil with diesel certification and getting an oil analysis with each oil change to cover my *** with the warranty.

Conflicting Oil Standards in Owners Manual

You could buy the Amazon oil for $35, the filter online for $44, and an oil analysis for $40. That's only $119, and you not only have the data on oil quality to cover your butt in the event of a warranty claim, but you might also get an early warning of serious engine issues.

    2020 EcoDiesel 3.0 Oil Recommendations

There is a mistake in the list. The Motul X-clean is not compliant, but the X-cess is. Having said that, I still went with the X-clean because it has lower SAPS.

Conflicting Oil Standards in Owners Manual

Same thing happened to me. They are using the same product number, VV966, for both full-SAPS and mid-SAPS products, apparently. It's very confusing. I settled on Motul 8100 X-clean 5W-40 as my oil of choice. It is NOT MS-12991 compliant, despite its inclusion on the list on page 1 of this...

Conflicting Oil Standards in Owners Manual

Here is a thread on a Fiat forum, where they list the Valvoline 5W-40 Euro (ms-12991) as a low-SAPS formulation: https://www.124spider.org/threads/oil-filter-master-thread.15041/. I've read other sites claiming it is a low-to-mid SAPS formulation. In any event, it's probably better for the DPF...

    Turbo Lag

I think the fact that I live out in the middle of nowhere with no traffic has some bearing on my not experiencing any issues with turbo lag. However, what I have noticed is that the tranny is often reluctant to downshift when I slow down to round a corner and then try to accelerate back up...

    Turbo Lag

Oddly, I've never experienced the turbo lag. The truck always seems to have plenty of acceleration, to the point of spinning the tires if I give it too much gas from a standing start. In what sort of situation would this lag present a problem? Merging on the highway towing a heavy load?

    MPG ?

I have a 2020 Lone Star 4X4 with the Ecodiesel, and I just finished about a 400-mile round trip between west Texas and east New Mexico. About half of that was highway at 75 mph, and most of the rest was 2-lane blacktop at 60-65 mph, with a little 4WD action on ranch roads thrown into the mix...
