Not many people keep their vehicles a long time but I do and after reading this article, the Ram truck sorta makes me rethink this brand.
Replacement cost
Since the system hasn't been out for 10 years, we don't know how true the article may be.
Based on the Ram web site, the Top View of the Surround Camera shows the following.
It takes up about 1/3 of the screen.
Anyone with this feature able to confirm this is all you get? Having such a small viewing area doesn't seem like it would help.
Are you able to have the surround view...
Thanks. I figured as much but was hopeful since the web page still shows it.
Updating the web page is such a simple task. No idea why they don't just remove it to avoid any confusion.
The RAM web site gives the option to build either a 2022 or a 2023.
Does that mean if I wanted a V8 without eTorque and a truck with specific color and options (that I can not currently find) I could actually go to a dealership and request they custom order me a 2022?
But then in theory wouldn't...
Yes and probably more technically correct. If we are going to get technical about the truck, I will have to call in my wife as she is more knowledgeable in engines than I.
Interesting....
Don't you miss out on deals a specific dealer may have going on?
Maybe its the end of the month and the dealler is willing to discount a truck more than normal to meet a quota?
Built a few Rams using the Ram web site and at the end used their search engine and they never come close to matching my requirements.
My list contains about 3 must have items.
Have you found a better search engine to find a Ram truck with specific colors and features?
Took my first test drive with the e-Torque system and can say.....not a fan.
Definitely one of the better systems with regards to stop/start, but every time you go to stop or slow down you feel the e-Torque system kick on to capture the energy to recharge the system and assists with slowing down...
One of the top rules is to not let the dealership know you need a new truck immediately
My thinking is if you told 5 dealerships you need a truck now and will buy from the one of the five with the best price, why would they not give the best deal as it would be a easy sell?
Usually when working...
Seem like the 2023s will have the e-Torque system and curious what are the major complaints from owners (if any)?
Also for anyone in the southern states, how did the e-Torque manage through those hot humid July/Aug months?
Does the e-Torque system cut out the A/C unit?
Standard rims are 18 inches but the ones I like are the 20 inch rims.
Is there a noticeable difference in the ride between the 18 inch and 20 inch rims?
Objective is smoother and comfortable ride over aesthetic.
Good comments about the paint.
My old truck has a combo of paint and fake chrome on the front.
The chrome portion still looks great, but the painted area is pitted through the clear coat.
Now, I may be rethinking the Sports package.......but maybe not as I really like the look.
With the Laramie, all I really want is the surround view.
Not a fan of leather seats, but figured I would have to give/take.
Also, the Florida sun will definitely deteriorate any dash (leather or plastic).
I generally don't upkeep the inside, but do keep the outside nice with Zaino products.
So...
Even with my current (older/smaller) truck the surround view at times would be helpful due to many places here having small parking spots.
Figured with this larger vehicle, its would just about be a necessity. (at least for me  )
