While our 2020 Limited is no slouch, our 2014 still feels faster when I drive it occasionally. They are very close in weight, have the same engine, same 3.92 rear, same transmission.
The only difference is that the 2020 has all of the stuff that was supposed to make it more fuel efficient...
This would be the one Ram to stay away from for the first model year!
Interesting concept, but overall mpg is 20? That's probably close to the new inline-6? I still don't see a rational business case for the all-electric or hybrid (sorry, range-extending) variants of (Ram) trucks.
I'm on my third Ram, a 2020 Limited. We still own our 2014 Big Horn as well.
2020 is almost at 130,000 miles now. While it hasn't been flawless, it's been pretty good. I have to say I don't understand the dislike for the E-torque and the Start-Stop. To me, they work very well and are a...
Well, in my opinion and experience (we also own a 2014 4th gen), the dirty little secret of the 5th gen Rams is that fuel economy is worse than 4th gen, even with all the fuel saving measures. Our 2020 Limited has all of the supposedly fuel saving options (E-torque, grill shutters, active air...
Lifter failed on our 2014 and ate into the camshaft. They replaced camshaft and all lifters. That was at 130,000 miles I believe. It's now at 220,000 miles and running strong. Noise of failed lifters and camshaft can be similar to Hemi tick.
I live in North GA.
Dealerships I tried and didn't like (for service):
- Palmer Dodge in Roswell
- Mall of Georgia Dodge in Buford
- Shottenkirk in Canton
- Tutton in Jasper
The better dealership was Troncalli in Cumming , GA
I now take my trucks to Christian Brothers in Alpharetta. They...
I have tried all of the dealerships around me over the years (5 or 6). The service departments all suck. I picked the best of the worst and took our vehicles there. At one point we owned three Mopars, so I used them a lot. Things were OK for a few years. We spent a boatload of money on...
We have an unlimited (mileage and time) extended warranty on our 2014 truck. Just received this promotion from Mopar.
Interesting offer, but:
- new trucks are still too expensive (after insane price increases over last 4 years)
- we like our 2014, and have just invested good money into...
One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of aftermarket accessories don't work with the multi-function tailgate and/or ramboxes (tonneau covers and racks mainly).
I own a basic 2014 Big Horn and a 2020 Limited. The one thing I'd say that surprised me is how much I like the retracting sidesteps...
I did this, but got the distinct impression they didn't look very hard, probably because warranty repairs just don't pay as much as regular ones. Next time I'll probably invest a little money and have it done at an independent shop and then take the evidence to the dealer.
2020 Limited with 120,000 miles.
I love my truck, and it has never left me stranded. However, it just doesn't feel as solid as I would have liked.
Problems so far:
- LED headlight failed (within two weeks of purchase)
- Camera in pod behind rearview mirror (for adaptive cruise I believe)...
Not a word about Ram's insane price increases?
Ram are doing everything they can to price customers out of their trucks. New strategy is apparently to become a luxury brand with luxury prices.
With today's interest rates and the inflated prices (not to mention dealer markups), many plainly...
Never change equipment just before a trip...
We went on a long road trip a few days after mounting the wheels and tires. Somehow, one of the rear wheels developed a leak during the trip. Turned out to be a hairline crack in the wheel barrel. Not being able to source a replacement at short...
Just follow the intervals specified by Ram, especially if you plan to have an extended warranty.
I usually get the extended warranty, then follow Ram's maintenance schedule:
- oil whenever the counter in dash tells me to (usually near 10,000)
- transmission never
- differentials and transfer...
Well, after buying powdercoated Rebel wheels last year, I finally got them installed with BFG K02 in 275/70 R18 (standard size for Rebel). Looks great to me, I don't really need anything bigger.
Despite me warning them about tight tolerances with wheel weights, one front wheel was catching...
