Traditionally, differentials produce a significant amount of break-in debris during the first 5,000 miles of operation. For this reason, I completed my first rear differential oil change at 5,740 miles.
The fluid I drained was "yellow/orange" with a slightly milky appearance. The truck has...
2020 5.7 etorque, 3.21 LSD, 2WD. 5800 miles.
Just returned from a long road trip which involved driving thru states with 80 MPH speed limits. I noticed that at speeds above 80 MPH, there is a noticeable vibration that can be felt throughout the cab. I want to say that this vibration recently...
It's pretty rough, especially with 4wd.
Minimum 10% IMO. I average 16-17 in town with the 3.21, etorque, 2wd and 18" wheels. On the highway at 80 mph, I average 19.5-21 mpg consistently.
One of my friends has a 4wd BTS edition with the 3.92. Non etorque. He averages about 13 mpg with mixed...
Seems like a good deal to me. I would not go out of your way for eTorque, especially if your driving pattern does not allow you to take full advantage of its capabilities.
A June build should be fine. From what I have seen on this forum and from reviewing the TSB's over the last 2 years, most...
Clearly, something is wrong. I just changed the rear diff oil on my 3.21 LSD at 5740 miles and the oil was a "milky yellow/orange" and no debris was on the drain plug.
All of the water-based interior dressings or exterior protectants contain some percentage of Polydimethyl Siloxane. The concentrations are just tweaked depending on the brand.
Two questions:
1) Does your truck have the anti-spin rear diff?
2) If so, did you have to add additional friction modifier or was the RL 75W140 adequate by itself?
The manifolds and studs are still an issue, and the manifolds themselves tend to crack on the 5th gen’s. It is not a difficult repair and should not stop you from owning one.
The cam/lifter issue tends to show up at high mileage so it is too soon to say if the 5th gen’s are affected.

I traced my noise to the driver rear shock assembly. I tightened the top nut of the shock a bit more and the noise is greatly reduced. I had the dealer look at mine but of course they were unable to reproduce the noise.
That is a solid offer, especially since you are receiving the desired amount for your trade. The dealer I purchased my truck from is currently offering $6500 + rebates and they are known to be one of the most aggressive discounters in CA.
Guy who posted this was an engineer for FCA on the Pentastar team. His comments about start/stop are eye opening:
“As for the other comment yes, without a doubt turning off ESS will significantly reduce engine wear in the 3.6. I dealt directly with the data on that. I'll keep my comments to my...
My other car is a 2011 Prius. It still has the original battery at 211,000 miles. Toyota warranties their batteries for 10/150K now. I would expect any hybrid or mild-hybrid battery to last far longer than the mileage you predicted.
No issues with mine, 2700 miles. I spent 211K in a Prius with no battery or inverter issues, so any "hybrid" system does not scare me.
The eTorque models are also supposed to shift smoother due to contribution from the electric motor. Plus they have some regenerative braking benefits as well.
