Got my 1st rock chip in the windshield from a semi…… always something!

the rain-x kit is great to have in the truck. i carried 2 on my trip north this year because i've seen so many stories of chipped and cracked windshield on Alcan, Dempster, and Dalton.
i guess i got lucky lol

but at my friend's warehouse we have a Delta Kit (what most professionals use). we've repaired countless chips already and we all think it's a worthy investment.

Man what a coincidence, I picked up my new truck and they tried to sell me a windshield warranty for $1400 but my wife said that our insurance will cover it under comp for $250 so we declined the coverage. The dealer looked up the price for my truck for a new windshield and it was $1200.

FYI I remember driving down the freeway in my old car with a chip in the lower middle of the windshield, when a truck passed me bye I could see that chip expand into a large crack all the way over to my side of the car. If insurance will cover the cost of replacement with factory windshield then you might want to go that way to avoid seeing the chip become a large crack. Dealer said new windshields have lots of built in sensors so factory replacement is only way to go if dealer is right???? I guess if you see a cable going to our windshield then dealer might be right.

I’ve got an extended warranty through where I financed the truck but it be seen other threads where people have had 0 issues with non-OE replacement just have to make sure they can recalibrate the cameras and sensors

My son has a Volvo and my wife drives an Audi. The Volvo windshield had a crack across it and cost insurance $2600. My wife's Audi has two chips in it and I got a quote for replacement and it came in at $2800.

All of the requirements and regulations mandated on cars today are why our insurance costs are so high. A $400 glass replacement from a few years ago when insurance said they would cover glass at no cost, is now $2800!

BTW, insurance companies do use windshield replacements as a claim, so when shopping for insurance, you won't get the best rates if you have a glass claim. Gotta love it.

I got a stone chip on the highway and by the time I got back to the City it ran about 8” (thankfully down in an arc). I had my glass guy order a new windshield and drill a small hole to stop it from continuing till the new one gets here.
However, with the onslaught of winter and sanded roads, I’m thinking I should wait now till spring.

I've accidentally shut my truck off in reverse a few times. Never popped a code, it shut shifted itself to park. Also, if you get out of the truck with it still in reverse and running it automatically shifts to park

LOL, the image in my head of somebody getting out of the truck while it is rolling down the driveway in reverse before park is engaged made me laugh and thinking that is something I might do while parking my travel trailer..... GOD it sucks getting old

Finally finished installing all the new components upgrades to the audio system. New silk dome tweeters, along with pillar pods for 3.5” mids. And I completed the new ported box for the new sub.

I picked up my new truck from dealer Tuesday, got to drive it home at night and during a heavy rain storm. Man what a shake down cruise for this old sailor.... Didn't find anything wrong with it so far, decided to hit the gas from a stop and threw my wife back in her seat and gave me a bit of a scare on how fast it responded and accelerated. NOTHING like my 2016 Taco with 3.5l V6. I also discovered a nice feature for side lighting.
Also learning there aren't too many choices for accessories for this 2025 truck, seems lots of 2024 goodies won't fit this model like mud guards.
Next major purchase is a Leer 122 canopy and drop in bed liner then maybe a PPF color change to Metallic Blue or this Chameleon Matte Magic Blue Vinyl Wrap

Sweet, are you going to put on a ceramic coat to protect all that work? I did what you did on my truck then added a ceramic coat from Avalon and sprayed it with Reload spray sealant which keeps water beading for about 6 months.

Yep but only the front ones. I leveraged my new purchase by having the dealer match what a Ram dealer was selling them for plus paying for shipping so I got all 4 Mopar brand for $126.

I used Avalon King ceramic coating 3 years ago and it lasted about 6 months. I need to do more on the paint correction as I noticed clay bar marring in the finish that my compound/polish didn't address. So I need new chemicals and will be doing this again. Then I "might" use Cquartz if I decide to ceramic coat again.

Could you kindly post some pics of Forged Blue Metallic while in sun? I’ve only seen one on an overcast day. It looked rather black.

Welp, sorry about that. I didn't click through all the links. I have the full set for my 2022 so assumed they made the fronts and rears for 2025

Little things. Finally "fixed" the passenger side visor with a cheapo Amazon repair kit, replaced the Lock'er Down safe battery, reformatted the dash cam card and quick washed all the gawdawful bird off from today's WalMart run (no more parking under their trees).

Interesting results, I use Reload every 6 months or so to keep up the shine and beading and it seems to work. I never tried waxing after the ceramic coating so can't respond to those results. I guess I don't know what it means to have the ceramic coat fail, I would assume it means forieng materials like road tar, bugs, paint over spray, minor scratches damaging the color coat through the ceramic coating and clear coating all sticking or failing to provide any level of protection better than just wax????

How did you folks determine it stopped working, engineering mind wanting to understand?
