Has anybody had any luck converting a truck without heated mirrors to a truck with heated mirrors? My truck has the rear window defrost so the button is on the dash, but I'd like to swap out the non-heated tow mirrors with the smaller heated tow mirrors. Does anybody know if that's even possible?

See https://5thgenrams.com/community/th...ss-swap-from-non-heated-to-heated-glass.5869/

Short answer is yes, it's possible to take the guts out of heated tow mirror and put it into your existing mirror, but you'd need the modules and code flashed too.

How simple it would have been to have both mirror types come from FCA with all the features included on all models ................... so then we could ***** about having too many options included. :)

I looked at the build site for the 2019 F150 Lariat and Platinum yesterday, IF I read it right, two choices with everything and one of the choices also has power extension.

My existing mirrors are the tow mirrors w/o heat or power fold. If I purchased new mirrors with heat and fold, the necessary controllers and door switch, would I then just need to flash the code? And if so, how would I go about that?

I'm thinking that replacing the mirrors is a better option than removing/installing the guts of a heated mirror into my mirrors.

Ordered the standard mirrors with all my functions and the OBD Genie module and bypass, $1300 for everything.

If you check the Infotainment website, it tells you your order will be delayed due to shortage of the new switch housing.

Got the same message from MOPAR Online Parts with my order.

It seems the numbers are all over the place.
They gave me
68276501AE
68276500AE

others have
68276506AE
68276507AE

e bay
68276505AC left
68266504AC Right
have chrome tops.

I hooked up the drivers and did the genie thing. It works, also hits the window. Not sure what to do about that. Loading the gears is not a good thing.
Mine hit my drivers and passenger windows when they fold up also. Thought it may have just been me. Haha. Let me know if we find a fix...otherwise I'm good.

I have a new mirror on the left the tow mirror on the right. I did the bypass and genie. The left one works I should have the right mirror tues. I thought the mirror was bopping the glass also. It is not, it has an internal stop. Check it..

Is the internal stop something that you set? If so, how? Both my mirrors definately hit the glass right now.

This is exactly what I want to do also! Maybe it's just me, but I just don't want to drop 1300-1400 to do it... Maybe if it was half the price. I was thinking that maybe I could find someone who wants my tow mirrors, trade me their regular heated mirrors and then just buy the modules for the heated option. Hoping someone out there will try doing something like that soon.

Not setabble that I know of. I thought mine were hitting but they are not . close though. I dont know if they are current limited. Try to put something 1/8" thick between them both and see if it holds the position?

Still waiting on mne to ship, the new mirror switch is the hold-up.

Those that have made the change, any problems or issues?

Are you saying the door switch or mirror module in the door panel? The switch in the door (buttons to open close windows) should be readily available.

I did mine a month ago and no issues except for their shipping and taking forever and shipping wrong parts...otherwise install was fine. Working great...much happier with new mirrors.

Hey @gpasetta if not too much trouble can you post a front facing picture of the new mirrors you installed. I would like to verify they match the standard mirrors on a limited. The picture on infotainment's website does not show collision warning or the small convex mirror in the upper outside of the mirror. I currently have the tow mirrors and I am seriously considering downgrading? upgrading? to the standard mirrors - a little smaller and I would get auto folding plus dimming on driver side. But I just to want to triple check I keep heat, auto-adjust, collision warning, puddle lamps, turn signal and the front face includes the small convex mirror in the upper outside corner. Appreciate it.

And does anyone know if there is a way to get auto-dimming on the passenger side on limited?

The door switch is on back order from FCA. Everything else is readily available but for some reason limited door switches. Probably a lot more people switching out their non-power fold for power-fold than expected so deleting current inventory.

Here you go.

Driver Mirror
Regular mirror & small convex mirror
Blind spot, dimming, puddle, defrost, turn signal and retracting

Passenger Mirror
Wide angle & small convex mirror
Blind spot, puddle, defrost, turn signal and retracting (no dimming)

Only way to go...so much better. Let me know any other questions.

That’s what they told me for other item. Then I called another dealer that checked inventory and determined it was in stock then I had to tell Infotainment. Crazy. Good luck.

Finally got the passenger mirror and installed it. Everything works. All is right with the world. Especially since I dont have to jump out to fold the mirrors when I park in my garage any more!!

BTW...every element is an option. They make a ton of variations on the mirrors, so you need to find out if your truck supports each features (i.e. defrost or blind spot) or not. Then I confirmed features with Infotainment to get the right one. They initially sent me mirrors without Blind Spot...so I had to send back. Was a PITA...but better to get it right.

thanks. I ordered the mirrors today. Will see what I get sent. I outlined all the mirror options I already have so nothing gets left off and included my VIN. Again, appreciate all the help. Now just a matter of waiting for all the parts - hopefully they ship soon and are correct when they arrive. Looking forward to power fold and dim on at least one side.
