How To Use AlfaOBD On 2025+

I am finding some information a little confusing in this thread so i would just like to clarify...

Currently, there is no known device that can open the SGW for AlfaOBD AND also perform PROXI alignment after, correct?
Correct. The Rlink devices, or other supported J2534 device, can be used with WiTech2 to unlock the SGW and perform some actions.

For AlfaOBD, you need a OBD splitter, one device to unlock the SGW and a second to use for AlfaOBD. This cannot do proxi alignment.

Has anybody successfully calibrated the tire size/speedo on a ‘25+?

I’ve been beating my head against this for a few days now without luck. There is no “program tire size” option in Alfa for the Jeep body computer, which seems to be the common way for other year trucks. I change the setting in AlfaOBD (BCM -> Car configuration change -> NOT COMPASS, Tire Circumference, mm) and set it to 2809mm for my 37” tires. From there I go into WiTech and calibrate the ABS, run a proxi alignment, power cycle 4 times, then wait for 15 minutes with ignition off. The proxi alignment always fails with this change. The message listed was "No communication" for the modules DTCM, SAM, BSCM, ITCM. After waiting for 15 minutes and clearing the codes, the odometer still blinks and error codes are still thrown.

Has anybody succeeded with calibrating for tire size?

Is it possible to do this in WiTech? I can read the value in the BCM, but see no way to change it in that tool.

lmftmf i remember you changing tire size on 25 DT. Can you help on the what is required here? Did you end up using witech or was alfa enough for the tire size change?

I believe that is correct. You can use a y cable to use a tool (like xtool a30m) to unlock the sgw and use Alfaodb to make changes. Then use witech with an rlink obd tool ( like an x3/x7/j2534) to do the proxi alignment. ( of course you will need the various subscriptions to unlock the sgw and for witech. )

I had to use both. I changed the tire size using Alfa and then performed a proxi alignment with a dealer sanctioned witech tool.

I can PM you a price for the harness needed for the LED tail lights, but you have to do the programming with alfaobd to make them work.
For the animation, it’ll work with programming, but I’m not sure if the premium headlights must be installed or not in order for the tails to do the animation.
I’ve successfully installed and programmed the premium headlights (see my post two posts above), and the animation works without the tails being installed, but I believe the smart lighting module on the headlights is the master for that feature.
I'd be interested in the price for the harness and a guide on installing the projector LED headlamps too and an opportunity to purchase same. I'd also like to install the LED taillamps (it blows my mind my Laramie doesn't have those!). To be honest, I don't really care about the animations; I just want the better (I hope) functionality of the projector lamps as I find the performance of the reflector LED headlamps to be underwhelming.

when did you last do the proxy and using what tool. I am trying again with j2534 Topdon green adapter and no splitter after making changes to BCM. it the won't proxi. doesn't begin just says aligning modules but no matter how long it's left it doesn't make progress.

I got the premium headlights and digital cluster swapped in and configured.
I pretty much have all the settings figured out for alfaobd, so I’ll work on a few posts listing all the settings associated with all the different features people might want to add.

And the animated lighting works too:
I wonder if the projector headlights are an improvement on the lighting pattern, etc., of the stock LED headlights? Could you also post the part numbers for the LED taillights? Will the projector headlights & LED taillights work without your custom harness if one doesn't care about the animation(s) or do they require the custom harness regardless? Finally, any pointers on economical places to purchase the appropriate head & tail light assemblies?

The premium led headlights are definitely better lighting pattern than the reflector LEDs.

Neither the headlights nor the tail lights will work without adding the custom harnesses for missing factory wiring, or without programming. The animation feature is just a byproduct of adding the missing wiring and programming.

I usually use bamwholesale for new mopar parts, but I was able to source the headlights on eBay that were pulled from a junk yard truck.

Just realized this will be a bit tricky. The 2025’s use combined rear lighting (one circuit for brake and turn lamps). The pre-2025 tails use separate circuits for turn and brake lamps.
I’ll have to grab the turn signal circuits from the trailer plug, and also build some type of switchback module so the brake light drops out when the turn signal is being used, all while making sure the BCM thinks brake/turn signal circuit is being used normally.
It’s possible that the trailer tow module will think a trailer is connected, and pop up the trailer blind spot selection, so I’ll have to see if that happens and what to do about it.
I got the pre-2025 LED tail lights installed and working the way they’re supposed to. So far, it seems that no alfaobd changes are needed, but I’ll give it a few drive cycles to make sure.
I had to use a 2 to 3 wire turn/brake lamp controller, and a pair of switchback modules to make the brake lights and turn signals function properly.

Has anyone successfully done the proxi with the topdon rlink as of recently? Want to know before I drop the money on it or just pay the dealer instead they quoted me $220

I'm trying it right now have active 1 month sub plus ecu sub plus 3 day tech authority using green j2534 and it's not even connecting to Witech. just says checking on updates. did a fresh windows 11 install on laptop twice same issue.

prior to that it did connect but would not begin the proxy was able to connect to truck read and clear dtc and adjust TPMS sensor values np.

after the hundreds of dollars I've now spent on this I don't recommend doing it. very frustrating lots of wasted times and no real results. it's very finnacky software.
This is the behavior I saw when I was missing the correct VC++ redistributable. After addressing that, I was able to get fully into WiTech with the Rlink.

I have not yet successfully completed a full proxi alignment (4 modules don’t align), though that doesn’t appear to be related to which device is used. As a result, I cannot say the Rlink x7, j2534, or Cardaq work correctly to align things for my truck, but they can connect to WiTech and appear to function.

The issue was not C++ i had it installed. The issue was system time was not synched with correct time zone

c++ distribution was downloaded by vci app (FCA group) upon install.

I can try to remove it and install another version and retry but I'm not hopeful. it's very disappointing they charge so much for Witech and it's such a glitchy software that is so finnicky. tech support isn't helpful or interested. forum members have been so helpful so Greatful. really disappointed after all this effort that I can't even then off basic annoyances like triple honk on exit.

EDIT: I previously tried but tried again the newest C++ and 2015/2013 Distros, no luck same issue, tried different WIFI even. Stellantis should be embarrassed for how much they charge for such finicky garbage software.
I don’t think it’s anything to do with stellantis or witech. I believe it’s the aftermarket j2534 pass thru devices just aren’t fast enough for flashes and proxi alignments. I can use the official blue Mopar Diagnostic Pod with witech, and do everything quickly and with ease on my truck, with zero hiccups.

Both Rlinks I have (x7 and green j2534) will connect to witech fine, although a bit slow. I can clear faults and change the tire pressure thresholds with them, and I can connect to every module, but I can’t get all the way through a proxi alignment. Sometimes they’ll be stuck starting the process, and sometimes they’ll get about 5-10 modules aligned, but then get hung up. The green light is always flashing rapidly through the process, so I know it’s communicating and trying to write, I just don’t think they’re fast or powerful enough to get through it.

Same with flash updates, they actually do a little better, they’ll get to about 80-90% on the flashes, but ultimately fail and revert back to previous flash (no corruption issues though).

Is there any other tool we could try out that’s faster than the topdon but not as expensive as let’s say a cardaq or the mdp

The next cheapest one in line that I know of is the mongoose plus j2534 chrysler, but I don’t have one to try.

clock time zone and sync are required on PC.
using green j2534 Topdon got following results:

can change TPMS under misc can read and clear all dtcs

proxi alignment tried to do single modules without any changes in Alfaobd:
ORC module is first in list and it stays at aligning ECUs please wait

tried DTCM that @JDHarris had issue with during his proxi alignment and it responds same way stays at aligning ECUs please wait.
tried PCM and it aligned without issue right away.

It seems this Topdon Rlink j2534 currently is not communicating with certain modules like ORC, DTCM, and the other 3 that JDHarris posted as no communication. I dont have the SAM module on mine to test.

So logical conclusion is something changed and this device doesn't work reliability to do the proxi alignment as tested by Jimmy yesterday myself and JDHarris recently. Special thanks to @Abhi.K for helping me out.

@Jimmy07 reported yesterday that after the Topdon adapter didn't make it though the complete proxi the official micropod did. So we have at least 3 real world testing scenarios here where even the best green Topdon J2534 and same as the X3 and X7 cannot to the proxi properly at this time.

NOTE: it seems if you click in driver seatbelt it won't shut off after about 15 mins.

can anyone confirm that even cardaq 3 was unable to complete the proxi recently? so we are looking at the mongoose adapter next or paying dealer 1h labour to proxy align. Unless you find someone with a micropod that you can pay to use.

thanks everyone we got so close and almost did it.
