All,

I'm experiencing clunking noises from the front end of my 2019 Ram Rebel (ORP), occurring on both the passenger and driver sides. These noises have become more noticeable this year. As an initial attempt to resolve the issue, I replaced the sway bar bushings, but unfortunately, this didn't alleviate the problem. I've also thoroughly checked and tightened all bolts and nuts, confirming that nothing is loose. The noise manifests in two ways: a hard clunk or thud over small bumps at low speeds, and a sound resembling a bucket of change at highway speeds. The only noise I've been able to locate is shown in the picture attached. It has a similar metallic clanging noise when I tap it with my fist.

I have two main questions:

First, is the noise coming from the axle indicative of a problem, or is some play in that area normal?
Second, if it turns out that I need new axles, would this be covered under warranty? It's worth noting that I installed Eibach PRO-TRUCK SPORT SHOCK (Ride Height Adjustable, 2”) in 2022.

Thank you for your input and information!

Did you replace the sway bar links as well? You could disconnect the sway bar all together to rule out anything with the sway bar.
Thanks for the reply! I didn't get those yet. They were tight and rotated pretty smoothly though.

I always completely disconnect sway bar to see if that fixes the issue. If it does then you know either links or bushings. I would look at SuspensionMaxx links since you leveled.

I'll check those out for sure. Since it was already raised an inch with the OFP, would I get the 2" or 3" leveled? The Eibachs added 2 inches.
Do you know if that part of the axle is supposed to have any play in it?

I would contact the company and ask them. Your amount of level will depend what setting you used with the OEM lift coils.

There are youtube videos showing play in that area, but how much is acceptable, I do not know. There have been issues with replacing the CV axles, because factory doesn't grease when installed and the can rust together. Check youtube.

Yeah the Eibachs added another 2" on the already 1" that was OEM. I'll check YouTube. I'm almost a YouTube certified mechanic. Thanks again!

I had similar issue. Mine was clunking over bumps. I was able to move my axles with a little bit of shake. So I took it in and was replaced by dealer but still made noise.

It ended up being tie rod ends. I replaced UCA and LCA as well since they had a lot of play in them.

If you have the tools and time, I would recommend removing those and see if it needs to be replaced.

You could also lift the car up little and stick a long, heavy duty pry bar under your tire and violently shake it up and down and listen to where it’s making noise.
