Alright, so I completed an install today using 20" PowerTap & the Blendmount. The upper plastic housing is pretty easy, but the lower is an absolute pain to remove!

Here is the upper plastic housing piece removed.

Back of the upper trim piece. This is held on by plastic molded in clips.

Lower Plastic Housing Piece (Those clips are a bear! I used a plastic trim removal tool.) Notice the 4 rectangular clip receiver holes)

The mirror harness is small, and removes easily

If you flip over the harness, you can easily see the power wire (red w/stripe) in corner with black ground next to that. These are the two I tapped.

It’s done. It’s a pain. The two wires you tap are the black ground and red next to it. I used blend mount wire kit 15 inch and their mount.

Do you know if the Blendmount from a 4th Gen Ram would work on the 2019? I have one from my 2011, haven't tried it yet but figured I'd ask.

I’m using an older style blend mount off my 09’. Works fine. The newer 4th gen double pivot should be even better.

I got the mirror off, it is some sort of clip over a bolt on my long horn. Anyone know how to get it back on???

line it up about 45 degrees off center then while pushing it against the windshield twist it back to center. it feels weird and will want to pop back out but as long as you put pressure it will snap back into place.

I've had my radar detector installed for a while, and thought to share with some pics. I used the Blendmount with wire taps. I had to go with the Blendmount because the knock off would not work with my radar detector, it would keep sliding off. Luckily the Blendmount has a spring type clip which actually holds my radar detector with some light pressure giving it a good grip. It is expensive but that's the one that worked, and looks real good. Here are some pics. Enjoy:

Can anyone shed some/tips on how to remove the lower trim piece with the four metal clips? I was able to remove the upper trim but cannot get to those metal clips to set loose.

i used some non marring tools from Harbor Freight. Its a little tough but apply enough pressure and that piece will come off. Good Luck

Thanks for the quick response! U applied pressure how and where? Just from the top like the upper trim piece? I remove that one prying from the top with a plastic trim tool. Sorry to keep asking. Just do not want to break it. 19637

You need to pry that center section out from the headliner area towards you as there are two tabs at the base that will beak off if you try to pull it out from the mirror stalk. There are pics of this piece in this thread I believe to show you where the tabs are.

Thanks! Yes I ahem already removed that center section, just in the manner you describe. I am asking about the bottom/base section that is in contact with the windshield. That is the one I am now trying to remove.

In the bottom right of that larger piece is a groove. Insert a trim removal tool and twist. The piece just pops right off very easily.
